Kota is still one of my favourite Jedi. I absolutely love his backstory, how he survived order 66 and how he spent years building his own resources to fight the empire. He's an admirable Jedi and how he wasn't chosen as a member of the Jedi Council is beyond me

    • @Frog-tg4qg
      @Frog-tg4qg Před 2 lety +11

Too free spirited and undogmatic - a challenge to the Jedi councils self image, power base and long overdue need for ideological evolution.

      @zacharyo3824 Před měsícem

His soldier mentality and armour would be inappropriate for the council. "We are keepers of the peace, not soldiers"-Mace Windu. I agree with mace but Kotas one of my favourite characters too.

I adored this, I always figured Rahm Kota was far more powerful than most gave him credit for and I loved how he was used in a battle against a warrior very different from himself. One warrior the remorseless butcher and the other the selfless military commander. What I loved were the similarities you drew between Lord Scourge and Darth Vader, and how you constantly adhered to it throughout your video. I'm sure many are wondering, just like myself, whether or not you'll do a versus match up between the two, that would be awesome.

  • @robsmith4824
    @robsmith4824 Před 7 lety +8

I think Reven some what trained Scourage, especially when it came to meditation, it was his meditation and foresight to know that the emperor would fall but Reven wasn't the person to do it. That's why he betrayed Reven so he could stay in the good grace of the emperor and buy his time. Scourage is definitely one of my favorite and most intriguing character in the EU

  • @wolfgod6443
    @wolfgod6443 Před 6 lety +7

Gotta say, I think your Vs. excel the most at determining the strengths and weaknesses of characters with little information or obscure ones. Like Kazdan Parratus vs. Maw, or this one. These are where your talents for this stuff shine.

    • @iceomistar4302
      @iceomistar4302 Před 4 lety

Exar Kun is a technical fighter, his meticulous attention to detail and need to micromanage the duel would be his undoing, not to mention, the Vong implants make Krayt nigh impervious to lightsaber strikes, also I would approximate Kun's native force potential at that of a mid to high tier council master of the clone wars era but Krayt has the native force potential to contend with the likes of Grandmaster Yoda, Vitiate and Sidious, Exar Kun could contend for a while against Krayt but wouldn't pose a serious threat to Krayt who outclasses him in most aspects, the only aspect Kun has going for him is greater skills with the lightsaber but outside of that he doesn't habe much to work with against a almost invincible character like Krayt.

*Welcome back in 2017 with a full length (non-strike-length) versus series video!*
I hope you will showcase an EXTREMELY fruitious and busy year. :P
I was hoping that you would include Scourge's pre-KotFE power, which was a force lightning infused melee slap!
I was happy for Scourge as the winner.
What are your plans for 2017? Any specific matchups on your mind? Perhaps something similar to the mountain vs viper?
Anyways, I really hope you'll consider adding the following characters to this year's Star Wars versus roster:
    Desann
    Bao-Dur jedi + remote
    Xalek
    Sariss
    Seventh Sister + probes
    Alora
    Gorc & Pic together
One peculiar request I have is please if you will seek out better voice recording equipment, and mix/master a higher volume sound in decibels. Your voice is pleasant to listen to somehow like audiobook narrators. Quality microphones are not necessarily expensive, you may need to add a pop-filter aka humidity net in front of it, might want to experiment with 2 different types of microphones, 1 dynamic and 1 capacitor/condensator to capture most of an organic sound. Softwares I recommend thar are easy to use are (Sony:)Vegas & Cubase/Nuendo. Of course there is always the Adobe stuff and ProTools.
-May the cheers be with you.-

      *Analyzing DESANN*
Originally using later Fast/Medium/Strong Styles, translated to one hand for greater reach
Lightsaber proficiency translated to the 7 classical forms:
      Technique Based around:
      - outstanding and highly force assisted Ataru with incorporated physical hits (with J.A. game)
      - Niman focusing on: Force Attacks-Defenses AND Melee Unpredictability
      Additional great knowledge in:
      - Shien being unorthodox grips, and near-perfect at immediate retaliations and deflections
      - Djem-So HIGH preference for decisive sudden power slashes in many ways
      Possible other training:
      - Makashi - slight moveset versatility in close proximity and capable of subtle but deadly manipulations
      - Shii-Cho - undeniable understanding and preference for force pull/push slashes
      Force Powers:
      - Force Grip in many ways
      - Force Lightning
      - Telekinesis
      - Combining together Grip, Lightning, and Telekinesis AT THE SAME TIME in either successions or bursts !!
      - Force-assisted physical augmentation
      - Mind Trick + Force Illusion
      - Fear
      - Force Speed (slight)
      - Force Rage (rpg guide)
      - Force Sense (rpg guide)
      - Force Heal (rpg guide)
      Additional skills:
Form Zero (not attacking when too far)
Sokan (quick positioning and rushing to nexus)
      Telekinetic Lightsaber Throw
      Dun-Möch
      Expert during bladelocking
      Good defense against Mind Trick
      Most notable mental tenets:
      - Although being one of the rare elusive dark jedi, thus not trained in sith tradition, during the final years of his live his outlook on the force was a LOT similar to the force philosophy in sith culture.
      - He used the esoteric power of the force fully to gain an advantage of physical power in the material world.
      - He was highly angered and insulted when getting into contact with either lightside or jedi mentalities, likely one of his psychological artifacts from his years as a padawan.
      - He was not as thickly potent in the many levels of the force as the late Jerec, who in turn could have been one of the few eventual rivals of Palpatine. However Desann's combative force abilities might have been more sustainably simple and compactly duel-ready.
      Significant Achievements:
Taking the place of Jerec (although being very different in nearly every single aspect)
Probably managing to win a duel against Luke Skywalker at Cairn !!
Almost definitely spearheading the assault on the Jedi Praxeum in the front lines
Good enough to be used by Hethrir despite being an alien
Having own twisted form of mature wisdom
Some form of battlefield experience with Remnant, even ordering an Admiral
Capable of interrogations and valuing military intelligence, even for once-home turf
Having a certain understanding of both force and technology for Remnant projects
Pioneering face of cortosis and artusian crystals
Probably slight knowledge of Sith Alchemy from Hethrir to use with Reborns
Leading and helping form the sect of the Reborn AND the division of the Shadowtroopers!
Probably training Reborns and Shadowtroopers in force and fencing
Having an apprentice! Who later was successful enough to have her own apprentice!
Managed to rediscover the Valley of the Jedi with cunning and deception
      Advantages:
Chistori Impatient Agression / Among his peers he was the least likely to pause a physical advance during a duel
Total combat versatility and fast decision making in fencing and force attacks
Biological strength advantage over most other beings
Being able to bite opponents with his large mouth
      Durable hide of thick scales
      Long arm reach
Using one of the longest single lightsabers ever used by anyone in Star Wars
His stronger slash attacks are still rather unusually fast
Formidably wide range of force abilities
Even his saberhilt is some form of last resort melee club-weapon
Almost certainly been to the Valley of the Jedi himself at some point, having access to the force power there
Draining some portion of the Praxeum-Nexus' Force
Possibly even having cortosis parts on his armor and hidden artusian crystals with excess force energy
      Disadvantages:
Chistori Impatient Agression / Among his peers he was the least likely to pause a physical advance during a duel
Large build makes for a big target to defend
Saurian cold-blooded body needs warm climate to function properly
      Significantly imperfect defensive force-wall
Not having too much armor on most of his body normally
His Force Speed cannot match some of his opponents'
Not 100% perfect blaster deflection (though still really good)
Using saber throw he often leaves himself defenseless
Can be baited into tactical suicide by enemy Sokan/Duel Planning
Once a duel has started, mostly acts out of instinct and anger instead of practicality and planning
      Short description of dueling style:
Pragmatic but simple. Many sided but straightforward. Near perfect, but still with obvious flaws. The perfect example of an exeptionally strong kinetic swordfighter, but failing to seek the guidance of more mystic sides of the force, even though right under his nose and legacy. Keen senses and reflexes, short patience, strong strikes. Cold and complex is wisdom, yet still fiery and uncompromising in combat.
Time to consider Desann as a worthy versus series combatant!
But who do you pair him up against?
For the duel not to be decided by huge differences or low tricks, he needs a similar combatant.
One with extremely strong basis in sustainable power duels and impressive spectrum of force powers.
Possibly even being physically a match too.
      But having very clear imperfections.
The ideas I could come up with:
Xalek - ranged lightning and crush, sabetstaff, tanking, muscles, ruthlessness, punches
      Lord Scourge (later non-immortal state)
      Darth Marr
      Darth Bane
      Lord Hoth
      Jun Seros
      Pong Krell
      Galen Marek Starkiller
It would also make a great matchup if you do decide to show an emphasis on some differences yet focus on some obscure similarities:
The Pau'an Grand Inquisitor - The new modern canon Inquisitor against the old successor of Jerec
Gorc and Pic - When Desann's assets are separated into two distinct individuals of power and technique
Darth Nihl - Also using a long reach saber but with different methods
Additionally every great combatant is interesting to see against EpIII Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Soresu!

      *Analyzing XALEK*
Originally (in pre-4.0) his stances did not mirror his saber forms, just force forms corresponding to roles
Speculating lightsaber forms by time period and academy teachings:
      Technique Based around:
      - Niman focusing on: use of force combative abilites
      - Shii-Cho simple and instictive strong slashes
      Additional great knowledge in:
      - Soresu having good defensive abilities
      Possible other training:
      - Djem-So basic knowledge, but very well aligned with his philosophy
      - very basic Ataru for quick resolve and special situations
Originally (in pre-4.0) one of his primary and largely frequent abilities was Force Lightning, effectively making him a ranged tank.
      Force Powers:
      - Force Lightning (frequent use)
      - Force Bomb
      - Force Barrier
      Additional Skills:
      Basic unarmed combat
      Pain Tolerance
      Recovering Artifacts
Tribal training in some melee weapons
      Most notable mental tenets:
      - Combining simplified Sith Tradition with Khaleesh warrior culture, he aims to best both worlds with a combined way of life
      - Brevity and ruthlessness
      - Completely looking down upon diplomacy and sith powerplays/political machinations
      - Great respect for culture, tribe, heritage, family, and sith teachings, born by the name Xivhkalrainik.
      Significant Achievements:
Rising from a slave state and eventually becoming a really dangerous sith lord
Killing 4 of his rivals even before becoming an apprentice
Despite his simplicistic nature, he managed to develop force lightning, and to an extremely frequently ready state
Becoming the primary apprentice of Kallig, additionally with occasional mentoring from Zash
Helped Kallig through Corellia and the Kaggath, also Ilum
Remaining to be a worthy apprentice to an eventual Dark Council member, fighting alongside Khem Val
      Advantages:
Savage Khaleesh tribal agression, being culturally driven to win all battles, not just by sith doctrine
When possible, aims to conquer his opposition simply and swiftly, ending the needless long conflict to move on to the next one
Biologically able to see in the dark
Biologically not too uncomfortable to live in cold environments (father lived on Ilum)
Ruthlessness does not stay his hand from a killing blow in any situation
Muscular build, built to take and dish out damage
Natural claws on both hands and feet
Probable original tribal melee weapon training to some extent
Saberstaff use with long handles and leverage enforced by muscles become an excellent defensive barrier
Has a few rather powerful force attacks
Can constantly remain a significant threat even at long range with force powers, and in fact frequently chooses to do so despite brevity
Supernatural force-empowered hardiness/constitution (defense) and force-enhanced physical augmentation (attack)
Despite being able to use force powers as a main form of attack, he wields a saberstaff which has a threat of 2 blades instead of the usual 1 of single sabers alongside powers
For defense, he has a saber, a strong body, light armor, a defensive force wall, and Force Barrier power
Cultural Bone Mask provides a minor armor to face
      Relatively mobile combatant when needed
      Disadvantages:
Savage Khaleesh simple mindedness in combat approach
Combat simplicity greatly hinders more complex battle education and movesets
Preferring to remain lightly armored (pre-4.0 and original clothes), backside of head unprotected
Preference of robes may hinder flexibility and mobility
His force powers, however quite impressive, still really few and far between
Possible opponents for Xalek in a versus series setting:
Preferrably putting him against simple, strong opponents with not many moves but a reliable saber technique and at least some ranged force powers:
      Darth Bandon
      Bao-Dur jedi trained + remote
      Atris
      Fifth Brother
      Maw
      Gorc & Pic

      *Analyzing SARISS*
      (version 1.4)
      Technique based around:
      - Shien : unorthodox grip/stance and elegance, quite capable saber defense
      - Djem-So : relying on strong slashes
      Additional great knowledge in:
      - Niman : employing force attacks both as dark jedi and as a prophetess
      - Makashi : trained by sparring a lot with Jerec, elegant approach to dueling, but over-confident
      Possible other training:
      - Ataru : few employments of jump-drop assault moves
      - Soresu : a few minor defensive exercises as dark jedi
      Force Powers:
      - Force Deadly Sight !!
      - Force assisted physical augmentation
      - Force Speed (rpg guide)
      - Force Rage (rpg guide)
      - Mind Trick (rpg guide)
      - Telepathy (rpg guide)
      - Force Farsight (rpg guide)
      - Force Grip (rpg guide)
      - Illusion (rpg guide)
      - Force Sense (rpg guide)
      Additional skills:
      Basic Sokan teachings
      Ambidexterous
      Familiar with blasters
      Most notable mental tenets:
      - Raised on and survived Dromund Kaas. Spent most of his Prophetess career as a spy on Tatooine.
      - Although being classified as a dark jedi herself, she was probably the closest a darksider could be to a sith beside others as Palpatine and Vader. Jerec was also similar.
      - Raised as a Prophet(ess) of the Darkside, and order that served the Emperor.
      - After the death of Palpatine, she followed the next most powerful individual, Jerec.
      - Survived a brief duel against Qu Rahn unscathed.
      - Lived out her whole life as a devoted representative of the dark side.
      - Even when giving a foe a dueling chance, does not refrain from attacking an unarmed opponent
      Significant achievements:
The only known practitioner of Force Deadly Sight!
Fabled to be the most skilled lightsaber duelist among Jerec's cadre!
Although biologically the daughter of Lord Cronal a.k.a. Shadowspawn, she made her own career as a prophetess, operative, dark jedi, and an expert duelist.
Having some knowledge of Sith Alchemy
Seduced a wealthy family on Panatha, resulting in gaining Yun as a direct quasi-apprentice in the religion of the dark side.
Became the most important follower of Jerec. Diplomatic and threatening.
      Advantages:
Force Deadly Sight! Not a devastating ability, but extremely rare, surprising, shocking, and can only be stopped when the caster was interrupted. Can damage multiple targets at once for a long time.
Force Deadly Sight also works on invisible foes (single player)
Light armor does not hinder movement
Primary saber stance horizontal by her side offers little saber awareness for the opponent and baits the bold
Using a highly personalized lightsaber, it is most in tune with her mindset
      Has quite good melee defense
Rather level-headed calm stance towards dueling
Has a good mindset to understand complex dueling strategies
She is smart enough to protectively remain on the move even when his opponent suddenly disappears with force powered invisibility
      Disadvantages:
Strangely unlike Force Absorb, Force Protection defends against Force Deadly Sight
Force Blinding disables Force Deadly Sight
Small thin and skinny female human in her late twenties to early thirties, physically weak when not augmented by the force
Being an unmuscular female, Djem-So as one of her primary forms is a complete misspecialization
      Light armor offers little protection
Choosing to rely purely on fencing skills during a duel, unfortunately her fencing skills were not really perfect
Her arrogance and over confidence makes her dueling slow, her stiff dueling lacks mobility, vulnerable to flanking
Can be baited with Sokan to dangerous areas (where Force Throw was used for example)
During a duel, only likely to use Deadly Sight
Fails to work around foe's Force Protection and Force Absorb, wastes her energy.
Cannot really deal with an invisible foe, has difficulty initiating Force Sense during the heat of a duel
Vulnerable to Force Blinding, Force Throw (telekinesis), Force Grip, Force Lightning, Force Destruction
Vulnerable to the Flowing Water Cut
Her saber style is best described as replacing the muscle in Form V with brains, yet still falling victim to over-confidence.
The best opponent she can have would be a similarly pragmatic, rather complex duelist, with a well rounded and grounded style.
One who is not using many force abilities during battle, is not too strong nor is too fast.
      The (Pau'an) Grand Inquisitor
      Atris
      Darth Bandon

      *Analyzing BAO-DUR* (and his remote)
      (v 1.0)
Bao-Dur's legends-"canon" lightsaber color was unspecified, but being a guardian he most probably got a blue unused crystal from his companions.
However green fits his calculating personality better, and more logic-based approach, while remaining a physical combatant like Qui-Gon Jinn.
Furthermore he just as easily could have used a Silver/White crystal in his blade since one was almost certainly in the possession of the Exile's group at some point during their travels.
      Lightsaber forms:
Actually learnt swordfighting in army as an alternative to dealing with opponents with shield generators.
      Technique Based around:
      - Soresu (but against single opponents)
      - Shii-Cho
      - Makashi (though slow yet still calculating)
      Additional great knowledge in:
      - Ataru (preference for some accrobatic attacks)
      - Shien (unorthodox handling and power-based retaliation, learnt from Surik)
      Possible other training:
      - basic principles and grips of Juyo (seen from Surik, at the very least applied to coupling arm combos)
      - passing knowledge of Niman (seen from Surik, Mical, and Kreia)
      Pattern:
Almost always in versus videos, all characters are taken from their physical, skill, and power prime (unless in the case of special plans).
Turning Bao-Dur into a jedi IS (legends) "canon", for he is one of the jedi who helps rebuild the order after the Dark Wars.
Through deep studies into how to optimize him as a jedi guardian, but also keeping a roleplaying logic into account...
As franchise tradition and versus matchups require. his specialization must consider the implications of him being a melee saber wielder.
For storytelling purposes, this guide selected a single standard saber for him to wield, as since he probably wouldn't hold a saber with his prosthetic arm.
(Even though his only saber-holding fan art online portrays him as doing so.)
He cannot wear robes in the game, but this is obvious that the developers were just lazy to model robes with the power-couping arm.
With high strength, high constitution, and low dexterity, the logical conclusion would be wearing heavy (in game: medium) armor to emphasize survivability.
With heavy armor comes the further conclusion of adding implants that boost survivability, melee strength, melee precision, and regeneration.
This analytic pattern cares to keep in account, that armors restricted force powers in the game, so would probably define his choice of powers.
Although he has AT LEAST an observers familiarity with all other available powers of his time and crew.
Listed below are the powers which he definitely knows under Force Powers, and other familiar powers:
      Force Powers:
      - Telekinesis, Force Push, Force Whirlwind, Force Wave, Lightsaber Throw
      - Force Jump (Force-assisted phsyical augmentation)
      - Force Deflection
      - Force Barrier
      - Energy Resistance
      - Force Heal
      - Force Body
      - Stun (highest third level probably restricted by armor)
      - Stun Droid
      - Mind Trick and Force Confusion
      - Probably has minor knowledge in: Battle Precognition, Control Breath, Force Sight, Beast Trick
(rarely used but known darkside powers below)
      - Slow/Affliction/Plague (Plague might be restricted by armor)
      - Wound/ ForceChoke /Kill
      - Fear/Horror/Insanity
      - Force Scream!
      Additional probability:
      - Affect Mind / Dominate Mind - extent unknown, but probably knows this since he knows Insanity
      Other Force Power familiarity:
(thus is not tactically surprised when encountering but probably cannot replicate)
      - Force Enlightenment
      - Battle Meditation
      - (Burst of) Force Speed
      - Force Aura
      - Force Valor
      - Revitalize
      - Force Camouflage
      - Force Resistance
      - Force Suppression
      - Drain Force
      - Drain Life/Death Field
      - Shock + Force Lightning + Storm
      Additional skills:
(Probably) learnt meditation techniques from Mical/Disciple to regain force in a brief pause
Has a Force Channel battle meditative stance if needed to deal more damage with powers and regain force
      Zabrak combat tradition training
Military & 'Military unarmed' combat training
Jedi unarmed combat training (from the Exile)
Echani combat training (from Telos Academy and Handmaiden there)
Mandalorian combat training (from Dxun circles and Canderous)
Knowledge with most known kind of blasters and swords, even with wrist mounted dart/grenade launchers
Using cybernetic power-coupling arm in battle even beside a saber, managing to deal significant damage with it even compared to a saber
With his cybernetic arm, he was the most powerful unarmed combatant in his party during the Ebon Hawk times, thus probably in his lifetime
Can unavoidably disrupt shields with his power-coupling arm, and additionally cause electricity damage!
His mind was too difficult to read for even extremely strong force users such as Kreia (although unsure if this would chronologically be consistent after his jedi calming awakening)
Atton additionally has probably tought him somewhat about masking his toughts with Pazaak against force-based mental domination and spying
REMOTE! He always has a remote following him around which can shoot blaster fire and repair minor damage to his cybernetic arm
REMOTE: Bao-Dur had always been together with a remote he built really early as a kid.
Although that particular remote has been destroyed on Malachor V at the second confrontation.
Nevertheless either taken from before the destruction of the original remote, or after he has probably built a new one...
...it is easy to imagine Bao-Dur always having a floating ball companion with him at any given time.
      Most notable mental tenets:
      - Born into a life of war against the mandalorians, yet still managed to remain calm and compassionate to even some unfortunate enemies
      - Carried guilt over the years because of the Mass Shadow Generator, later dissolved by the Exile
      - First became a soldier then a Jedi Guardian under Meetra Surik, thus indirectly learning war according to the tactical leadership of Revan through the Exile
      - Always wanted to help the less fortunate, wandered the world after the war to try to help whereever he could
      - Was at home with repairing machinery and computers, found calmness in viewing the galaxy as a large circuit board
      - His cybernetic arm didn't bother him and made the best use out of it
      - Was always kind and calm, peaceful and righteous, helped rebuild the jedi order
(Note: Due to his force field disabling ability, being the most logical candidate to accompany Exile and Kreia to the Onderon siege, he was probably present.)
      Significant achievements:
Accomplished war veteran in the 12th Engineering Division during the Mandalorian wars
Extremely skilled pioneering engineer who designed a unique weapon of mass destruction that destroys a planet from the inside.
In fact his technical skill was so high he was even accepted by the grumpy likes of Handmaiden (at Telos Academy), HK-47, and G0-T0!
Bao-Dur was one of the few people who actually survived Malachor V (twice), though sometimes arguably filling more utilitarian roles
Was familiar around jedi technology way back during the mandalorian wars, also with mandalorian technology.
Helped Meetra Surik on her travels on Telos, Dantooine, Nar Shaddaa, Dxun, Onderon, and even Korriban.
Actually visiting Onderon twice, participating in the siege of Iziz.
Beaten countless foes of wide varieties, including armies of dark jedi and sith assassins, and even hordes of beasts on Telos, Dantooine, Dxun, and Korriban!
      Advantages:
With his remote he remains a threat at long range even without using his force powers, but does have offensive force powers.
Remote can do minor repairs on cybernetic arm and equipment if needed.
Zabrak toughness - can take a lot of beating, and head horns as last resort headbutting tool.
Cybernetic arm is hard to damage and hard to dismember, and still does not cause pain, power stream cannot be cut by a saber.
Touching the power stream with an organic limb shocks it and makes it numb for hours.
Power coupling arm disables any shields and causes electrical shocks to an opponent, probably momentarily disrupting electronic devices.
Opponents cannot retreat behind any potential force fields or defend themselves with shields, since Bao-Dur can smash them down with his hand.
Uses extreme implants and heavy armor that boost his survivability, melee strength, melee precision, and even grant regeneration.
Came into contact with and understands stealth technology as it was a battlefield standard during the mandalorian wars and dark wars
Because of innate war-trauma and Atton's training hints, he has an extremely difficult mind to read with really cloudy thought patterns and mental defenses, effectively cannot be anticipated neither in dueling nor in an ambush.
Probably unlikely to ever fall victim to Dun-Möch
      Disadvantages:
Remote is extremely fragile - once discovered - against blaster fire, grenades, force lightning, and telekinesis (like crush or saberthrow).
Slightly slow combatant (though still more flexible than mandalorians since Mandalore's +0 dex bonus armor was an average model by the descrition and still Bao-Dur had more defense)
Even with his many tricks in survivability, he probably cannot overcome his shortcomings in his lack of speed
He himself is quite an inaccurate shot of a blaster user if needed be
Force attacks tend to be weaker than of those who are more dedicated to force combat - "guardian" class-nature force resistance & force damage is expectedly low
Being effectively a cyborg, he is probably vulnerable to different forms of Force Lightning, and unlike most organics, is also vulnerable to anti-droid powers
Not shying away from darkside powers, he may be particularly vulnerable to Vaapad.

      ...Bao-Dur continued
Bao-Dur is a calm, precise, multi-ranged, tempered yet highly powerful, and many many sided combatant who is grounded in reliable basics, and is tought dueling and battle by the top minds in the galaxy.
Unfortunately he lacks any form of speed and missing a clear decisive amount of saber dueling experience.
He is most effective against opponents who are either not too fast, not highly technical, crumble under pressure from multiple fronts, and preferrably have a mechanical edge that can be disrupted.
Contrastingly, he is least effective against opponents who utilize strong ranged forced attacks, fast or precise dueling, extremely calculating approaches, or slightly those who can feed off dark side energy.
Naturally an ideal opponent is a chaotic varied mix from both advantages and disadvantages.

I created a Jedi character and for his saber forms its a hybridization of Makashi,Soresu and Ataru with some training in Niman for incorporating force attacks. Now in ur opinion at face value what would b the weaknessess of such a combination?

    • @brenntantor1634
      @brenntantor1634 Před 7 lety +1

I'm not Jens, but I'd say that mix would lack the stamina to continuously perform offensive blows that are focused on physical strength or similar ones that actually hit. (unless special Ataru is practiced where force gets transformed into physical strength like how Qui-Gon did it)
Having a strong and reliable source of skill in offense is the meat, while defense is the potatoes of a good duelist.
If you don't want to increase the number of forms for any reason, I'd suggest dumping either Makashi or Ataru and replacing it with either Djem-So or Juyo.

I can't speak for Jensaarai but I'd say at a guess it's probably because the Djem So variant of form 5 wouldn't have been particularly necessary during the era Kota grew up in.
Kota lived during a time where engagements with trained force wielders would have been a relative rarity so the practical Jedi would have likely geared himself towards engagements with shooters and mass groups of opponents particularly when the clone wars broke out. Shien would have been the practical choice and it can be used as an effective dueling style as well.

Sariss vs Jolee Bindo. Theory on Bindo: Form I easy to practice given his exile in the woods of kashyyyk fighting off katarns and the grey jedi concept. Not to mention Jolee has no specialized attacks when you meet him. Form V a style that was in vogue during the Exar Kun war if Ulic Qel Droma is any indication, plus its in line with his intermediate dueling feat. Form VI being a Jedi consular, who has more powers to incorporate including lighting which he can use with his unique perspective on life and the force. Whether or not Jolee studied some or all these forms, I think his technique would reflect these styles. Form I grey jedi, Form V intermediate duelist, Form VI consular.

      1. Starkiller by abusing Force powers, but Ahsoka would put up a good defense, especially given she used Tutaminis to absorb Palpatine's Sith alchemy.
      2. Very cool choice, I'm prone to say Cade.
      3. Anakin.
      4. Talon by using the Force, but Aayla's lightsaber skills would drag the fight for a bit.

Id have to disagree on Anakin and Cade. Physical they r on bar, while Cade has a gun and... Anakin doesn't. The martial abilities r rather close, either equal or Anakin takes a slight edge. However, with how long Cade can hold off Krayt, Anakin ain't gonna take him down fast. Then Case's force abilities r superior to Anakin, and I think that is the deciding factor. Anakin has tk, dark rage, and physical augmentation, while Cade has all those plus force lightning, shatterpoint, and dark transfer, so if Anakin isn't careful, which he often isnt, he could get shocked, plus with shatterpoint Cade may target Anakin's mechanical hand. And if Cade as much as touches Anakin for a very short period of time, Anakin will be fried by dark transfer. In terms of raw power, theyre pretty even I think. if Anakin's martial might balances with Cade's force abilities and it becomes a war of attrition, Cade can heal himself with dark transfer while Anakin is running on a fuse. Ultimately, close, they will trade blows, but I think Cade takes it a majority of the time, maybe 6-7/10 fights.

Before anything, I want to say that I'm a big fan and have been a subscriber for many years. With that being said, I have here a few vs series ideas that I would like you to cover:
    1. Darth Sidious vs Darth Krayt
    2. Darth Bane vs Exar Kun
    3. Legends Sidious vs Darth Vader, Maul, and Darth Tyranus: The Master vs The Apprentices.
    4. Darth Vader (canon or otherwise) vs ROTS Obi Wan Kenobi
    What do you think?

    • @furioussherman7265
      @furioussherman7265 Před 7 lety

1: Sidious. Sidious is simply the most powerful Sith Lord of all time. Krayt's definitely up there, but Sidious is at the top of the mountain.
2: Exar Kun. He's one of the top five greatest duelists in galactic history (the others being Windu, Yoda, Dooku, and Sidious) and he has his Force-enhancing gauntlet to keep him on even ground with Banes Force abilities.
3: Sidious for the same reasons why he'd beat Krayt.
4: I think it'd be a draw. Vader's capable of keeping up with speedy opponents and wouldn't be vulnerable to the same mistakes that Anakin made. Obi-Wan, meanwhile, would be able to tank all of Vader's attacks and would be even in terms of Force power, but he wouldn't be able to get past Vader's defenses.

    • @maxkogan3785
      @maxkogan3785 Před 7 lety

      1. I know, but it would still be a cool battle.
      2. I think it could go either way, leaning more towards Kun.
      3. I can't agree with that. Sidious is powerful, the most powerful sith in history, but I don't think he can overcome a challenge like this. Darth Vader was 8/10 as powerful as Sidious. Dooku said that when Savage's powers rival Darth Maul's (TPM Maul, who was not as powerful as TCW and Rebels Maul) they would be more powerful than Sidious (this was of course during the Clone Wars though, but you get the idea). All three of them are among the best duelists of their era and arguably Star Wars (Legends and Canon) and their collective skills are well above Sidious's. They are beyond powerful and could collectively overpower Sidious. Also, they know that the only way they're going to win is for all of them to survive from start to finish, so they won't let Sidious kill one of them off. The three of them together would likely prevail against Sidious. Now, I'm not saying that they're going to destroy Sidious, he will give them a hell of a fight and they'll all probably be exhausted by the end of the battle, but ultimately I see them overcoming Sidious.
      4. I know right? I think it would be an awesome fight.

You are overestimating Exar Kun. His success was like 50% because his saber type and fighting form were extremely unique applied to a lightsaber at that time. He was basically a quick cheap trickster.
If you pit Exar Kun against a much later adversary who trained against dual blades and that particular trickster strain of Niman, Exar would be humiliated.
The invention of Niman was around 4000 BBY.
Choose a good combatant 100 years later who has a decend backbone in either Soresu, Djem-So, or Juyo, mostly trained to deal with duels not battlefields, and has experience against staves, he instantly wins.
EpIII Obi-Wan, Darth Malgus, Darth Bane, Atris...

While Kota may be a military genius, Scourge had over _300 years of experience_. That's what gives the former Emperor's Wrath the edge as a fighter. Regardless, I do love very close fights.
Interestingly, since you've mentioned Maul, I must point out that there are many similarities between him and Scourge, such as Force stealth, planning, fighting forms, and overwhelming power. Main difference is that Maul has more variety, precision, and subtlety.

Montana Steele Savage wins easily. He has been shown as a valid threat to council masters, outright defeating Adi Gallia, and contending well with Anakin and Obi-Wan. By contrast 5th brother got wrecked by Ahsoka, who at the point was nothing more than high level knight combatively, and was comparable to Kanan and Ezra , making him high Padawan level at best. And seeing as 5th brother doesn’t have any specific skills that would give him an advantage over Savage, I’d say Savage Wins 9-10/10

Rahm Kota vs Lord Hoth would be over pretty quickly, Hoth is the better / much more experienced lightsaber duelist and at least the more powerful force user though I would say he is also more skilled. Mara Jade vs Shaak Ti would be very interesting, I second that match up. I don`t know enough about Zayne or Ferus so I think that would be interesting aswell just to learn a bit about them. Quinlan Vos vs Cade, I don`t really enjoy Quinlan as a character but I think that matchup would also be interesting. Quinlan vs Kyp, poor Quinlan is gonna get brutalized by one of the most powerful force users of the NJO era, this is basically Quinlan vs Dooku all over again. Same goes for Kyp vs Qui-Gon. Saba Sebatyne vs Oppo Rancisis, difficult to call, Saba is very likely the superior Duelist, though Oppo is probably the more powerful force user. I think there are better matches for Saba to have though, I would enjoy seeing her matched up against Shaak Ti or Depa Belaba.

German Survivalist what makes Lord Hoth superior to Rahm?

    • @ArikGST
      @ArikGST Před 7 lety

Well, first off all Hoth has fought in the Sith over a period of decades during the New Sith Wars, meaning he far outstrips Rahm Kota in terms of experience in actual lightsaber on lightsaber combat. He was also a Battlemaster , a Titel only given to those who had mastered all Forms of Lightsaber Combat. Considering this there is likely a quite significant difference in terms of knowledge if not actual skill in lightsaber combat, as Rahm Kota does not boast such a high Titel. Considering Hoth`s other accolades, he was the leader of the entire Republic Army aswell as the leader of many Jedi and he was a very successful leader, driving the Sith back constantly until they hit a stalemate on Ruusan. In combat he was noted for his quick tactical thinking and there are several examples for this in the Books, he was a tactical genius on and off the battlefield. Hoth`s use of the force was more noted for it`s power rather then the breath of his skill but he did have some unique talents like force stun which he freely employed against other force users, an impressive feat. He was also able to use Tutaminis or Force Shield, another advanced technique. I do think Rahm Kota probably used his talents with the force better, however I do not think he was as powerful as Hoth was, though this perception might be because we havn`t seen a lot from Kota. If you want to hear more about Lord Hoth`s accolades, I would suggest you watch EvanNova95`s Lord Hoth vs Darth Bane video since that is the best analysis we got for Hoth so far.

@@ArikGST what exactly does being a good battlefield commander have to do with personal 1v1 combat against a well trained force user? He also never applied force stun against another force user. It was a force less mercenary allied with the brotherhood of darkness. Mastering all 7 forms of lightsaber combat also sounds impressive but it doesn't guarantee victory in a duel. Cin Drallig was a master of all 7 forms of lightsaber combat and was a battle master too but that didn't matter at all against Anakin's focused djem so offensive. I've also personally always disagreed with the idea that Hoth is a tactical genius. Extremely clever, inventive and astute yes but a genius? No. People tend to overlook his failures in the war and the victories that we're achieved over him.

    • @ArikGST
      @ArikGST Před 5 lety

@@tiredjediknight3110Hoth being a very succesful battlefield leader implies a level of tactical skill that could be applied to a 1 on 1 fight, though this ofcourse is only implied and we simply lack actual showings. Kota is also implied to be a capable general but he also lacks showings.
If Hoth were a academy scholar Battlemaster like Cin Drallig your argument would stand, but Hoth is the exact opposite, having fought the Sith for decades in leathal live combat. On the other hand it's very unlikely Kota ever faced another force user in actual combat prior to fighting Starkiller, and he (argueably) lost that fight.
I don't feel like searching for the passage so I'll give you the point about the Sith soldier.
However, Hoth was described from his earliest days as a gifted and highly talented force user, while Kota was noted for being avarage. Since we lack showings on both sides outside of a video game which (again argueably) exaggareted Kota's abilities, I would say this battle comes down to implied sword and tactical skill, and Hoth wins both according to accolades.

Notron is the original Homeworld of the human race-Coruscant. Before it was overtaken by entirely cityscape; it was called Notron. Coruscant is actually original the name of the CITY. But once it grew to overtake the entire planet, Notron just eventually came to be called Coruscant as a whole. And the name Notron was forgotten to time. That’s why it’s said the human homeworld is lost to time. They’re still living on it and don’t even realize it.. Coruscant/Notron was ALSO the Homeworld of the original Mandalorian race. The Taungs. That’s WHY the Mandalorians subconsciously hated the Republic so much. They were defeated in a war with the human race and driven off Notron circa 100,000BBY; and eventually found their way to what would become known as Mandalore. Becoming their new Homeworld. Birthing the Mandalorian warrior culture and civilization. While the human race originally stayed on Notron building a city that would become Coruscant and eventually founding the Galactic Republic. Which by that time they started leaving and branching out into the galaxy due to the emergence of hyperspace travel being a major factor of the founding of the Republic in the first place... And I don’t think the Taungs, by the time they had evolved into the Mandalorian civilization, had ever forgot about that war and being driven from Coruscant/Notron. And that’s why they attacked the Republic, and allied with the Sith multiple times to attack them more so.
