My kids are all aspiring guitar players. They live with their mom six days a week. Sundays we have visits that inevitably turn into guitar lessons. I have shoulder length dark hair and wear Lennon glasses.
My son said, “Dad, it’s like having an Asian version of you teaching me how to play when you’re not there!”
They’re all subscribed to Guitar Wisdom. Thanks, Tomo.

I'm very new to Acoustic Guitar, today is practice day #5. I'm trying to follow your step#2, but I don't follow how to produce your notes with just the video and the above notation. Am I trying to go too far too fast? I really enjoy your videos. I was searching for guitar instruction videos in Japanese, since I'm also studying the Japanese language and wanted to work on immersion at the same time. Thank you so much for everything you do for us!!

I practice on the keyboard right after this warmup and then I come back to do the guitar practice. 3 months on guitar now and I am starting to know where the notes are on the fretboard. The finger exercise has helped me move faster on the fretboard.

First time, I ever got the blues progression under my fingers. I’m trying so hard to learn rhythm when all I wanna do is riff the night away. Must have all parts to improve. I’m quite grateful.

Awesome routine! Much better for building strength and dexterity than the rote ascending and descending four finger exercises. As an added bonus, at great speed, it starts sounding like a tense and suspenseful 8 bit video game.

In a way this is very basic, as in understandable, but still opening up new ideas for someone (me) who is moderately capable with chords, positions, and scales. Thanks.

Tomo, Django’s perfect ascending chromatic run comes to mind.
    Every note was perfect.

When my father was born he went to USA and he made it and am grateful for knowing him❤️ now I realize having guitar for 2,3 years is absolutely nothing. So i started to learn through you. You are really cool person I've ever seen. Love from Nepal❤️

Ive played guitar for over a year now but i never really practiced well and never really enjoyed it. I got good at a couple songs such as black bird by the beetles. Recently I’ve decided to really learn to play and not just copy a few songs I’ve looked at. This video is actually really helpful haha. To give me something to practice. And i absolutely love your personality. And theres something about your voice and accent that just makes me happy lol. Ik this is an old video but keep it up man

I'm sorry if this is wrong English. I have been practicing the chromatic training you posted earlier every day. The basic practice is boring, but it's clearly working for me. Thank you very much.

Good stuff is boring so you have to fool yourself believing as if so great and fun! Once you feel something not motivated... that point... no good! Thank you!!

Great routine. I get up every morning at 04:00 and do what I call my Morning Mechanics. Slur studies, arpeggio studies, left hand coordination and stretching (carlevaro). Then go,to,electric for legato routine, cross string picking routine. About 90 minutes total. All very slowly with metronome for accuracy. Morning Mechanics is not about speed at that moment. Then when I get home from my job all have to practice is whatever classical or electric repertoire I’m working on.

Thanks Tomu for a great practice routine. Short and simple. Better to practice everyday for a short period of time then every once in a while. And for all you new guitar players out there I strongly recommend you use a metronome. I have a free one loaded on my cell phone. If you play loud and can't hear the metronome through your cell phone speaker use a simple bud type wired or wireless headphone set and only use one bud. This way you can hear your guitar with one ear and the metronome with the other. BTW the second shuffle exercise will teach you to count measures. After all it's a 12 bar blues shuffle.

Haha I'm a singer and songwriter but I'm getting back into guitar, it's interesting since I always internalize all the possible melodic runs in a progression and I feel the general placements of notes on the fretboard. I started guitar back in Middle School (At the academy Classical Guitar was a required class, loved it) but had a large amount of years until after graduation from High School (Family found work and so I had to move from school to school), but now I'm back on with a classical guitar! (wasn't able to get a guitar but we did have a keyboard haha!), I did sing during my highschool years though and my mother (retired ensemble singer, helped me progress vocally), I really enjoy the vocal qualities of the guitar, vibrato and whatnot -- a beautiful instrument! I think that learning how to produce (Audio engineering and creative process) as well as composition and songwriting has some effects on my playing as well!
In any event, I came across your channel some months ago through a mutual friend and Blues Rock Guitarist out of Kyoto, Masa! I've seen you spring up in the comments of Rick Beato as well haha.
I'm sure I'll have an adjustment period to using an electric, but I think I'll find the thinner neck welcoming, even with my 9-inch hands shapes can be awkward further down the fretboard
