  • This game stuck in my head for quiet some time...lets play a short series that dives a little deeper into the gameplay and other aspects of the game and automation. Goal is to make a fully autonomous setup, with shunting yards and lots of trains.
Rail Route is a puzzle train tycoon builder with a lot of opportunities for automation and high complexity. You are responsible for train dispatching, scheduling, contract work and rail network construction.
The game will be 25% off for a bit store.steampow...
Rail Route is a management/tycoon/puzzle game based on railroad dispatching. Control the traffic, build out your own network, then optimize and expand. Unlock new technologies, upgrade the infrastructure, and automate operations! Design and share your own maps with the in-game editor.

Have played this all through early access - and loved it - but haven’t figured out shunting. Hanging on for the next episode!! Thanks @bballjo

The tooltip for the regional trains was not working, I think they fixed it now. So those red-orange warning triangles mean "Warning: Shifts also previous legs". It just tells you, that this is the earliest possible time for the second leg, and if you shift it earlier - because the train has to wait at least 20min - it will also mess up your first leg. So it just tells you that if you click it, you will have to check the first leg again if there are any collisions.
At 2:46 you get the wrong tooltip, and at 3:02 you get the right tooltip.

there is a function to copy the settings of a departure sensor to all the other sensors in the same station :)

the most confusing thing about the stabling sensor (when you eventually unlock it) is that you have to configure both sides, so on end of the line station like frankfurt hbf, I had to add signals at the other end to make them work, I don't know if it's intended, but it's mighty annoying to configure absolutely everything

You gotta tell the computer what to do, it has no brain...so either automate it or manually do it...I see nothing annoying about that, the opposite actually: being able to configure absolutely everything is a lot better that not having full control.
