- Many people often ask me if it's worth buying and playing an Xbox 360 in 2023, and I wanted to take the proper time to revisit the console and a plethora of games so I could give a definitive answer.

Isn't the Wii from the 6th generation? I thought Wii U was 7th.
6th gen and 7th gen were pretty great across the board no matter what system you had. All of the exclusives between were pretty dang good. 360 definitely set the bar on how we play online on console, awesome era for games.
Just subbed. Get these physical discs before store closes and prices skyrocket. 360 is already getting the retro status.
The prices are going up and will continue to do so. Luckily for me, the 360 is the console I own the most physical discs for. Over 450 so far!
I noticed that too in the past year, console prices and games are starting to creep up a little bit for the 360.
Xbox 360 digital store is closing next year. I advise everyone to buy what they can. Physical discs of games you can't buy digitally will skyrocket. @@markh351
I bought an Xbox 360 S about 3 weeks ago and already have over a dozen titles for it. Absolutely loved Tomb Raider and will be starting Rise of the Tomb Raider soon. It’s a shame that a lot of the multi-player servers are gone (e.g. Halo 3) but I’m not really into on-line multi-player so it won’t matter that much.
It's such a fun console to collect for! And now is definitely the time to collect. The Bioshock trilogy is awesome. Gears Of War trilogy, there's some great Assassins Creed games on the platform. Mass Effect and Dead Space Trilogies, the Dragon Age trilogy! SO MANY GAMES!

I bought a pre owned an Xbox 360 s today. So nice to load up a game and be able to play straight away without having to download or install anything. Hooked it up to my 24 inch monitor and the games ran very well. Tested gears of war 1,2,3, Alan Wake and Dead Rising 2.
growing up i always had the plain xbox (nothing wrong with that) but finally becoming a grown up i got the mw3 and star wars xbox 360 i wanted so badly as a child. My childhood is complete😂🙏🏻
They made some incredible Xbox 360 special edition consoles!
The installing and updating is part of the reason I ditched the new generation of Xbox and went back to the 360. With limited time to p!ay I want to be able to play when I want and also not feel rushed because I have to get the latest game

I still play minecraft online on the Xbox 360 and buy games to this day : )

I bought a factory sealed 360 Elite from 2007 last year (yes I paid a pretty penny for it) and love it. My wife an I play the OG Black Ops Zombies probably once a week on it. I love it, so many great titles. I was born in 95 so I got to experience the golden age of gaming bewteen 2006 and 2011 on the 360 with friends from school. Oblivion, Halo 3, Bioshock, Modern Warfare 1 and 2, DeadSpace, Farcry 3, GTA 4...man what a time that was.

The xbox 360 era was the golden years of gaming for me at least. So many classics that play well even today. They need to bring back the removed arcade games.
I'm lucky because I own a lot of those arcade games! But that's why the 360 era was so awesome!
Personally, the ps2 STILL beats the 360. 360 is eight behind it though. The ps2 makes the 360's gane library look small in comparison which is nuts to think about.
Great video! Another thing I want to add is the multiplayer of games of that era didn't give you FOMO of limited time items and battle passes which forces us to spend more time with specific games than we want to
UNDERRATED COMMENT! You literally just played, leveled up and had fun. If you wanted a golden gun in COD you earned it, you didn't pay for it. Simpler times for sure! I'm always buying battle passes for my son so he can get all the skins he wants...ol
Also the 7th generation was home to Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Due to licensing issues they will never be ported to current gen consoles.
I own a ton of the Guitar Hero and Rockband games, but obviously can't use their audio on CZcams lol
Im glad i kept my copy of DJ Hero, as that will never get any kind to remake

You are going to have a BLAST! The first 3 Gears games are AMAZING! Alan Wake is such a great game as well. Dead Rising 2 is fun! I'd suggest Bioshock 1, 2 and 3, Hao 3, Halo Reach and Halo 4, Dead Space 1-3, Dragon Age 1-3, Mass Effect 1-3 and there's a lot of awesome Assassins Creed games as well.
I love my 360. I still play it frequently and recently just completed my (own personal) 360 collection

What really sucks is that all of the Legacy Halo 360 games servers are shut down, really limiting your online experience with xbox 360. You can still play old cods online, and gears 3 multiplayer, but other than that the 360's servers feel like a ghost town.
But offline gaming is really where this console shines. Remember the games you bought? Yeah, you actually own them and you're in control. No drm checks. You play what you want, when you want, and they can't do shit about it.
I love my pc for high end gaming. But I absolutely HATE that I have to have a connection to even launch a game from steam. Yes, I know steam has an offline mode. But have you tried it? I launch a game while offline, and it either says a connection is required to play this title or it'll get to the game menu and tell you the same thing when you get there. I shouldn't have to crack my own games to play them. And that's where pc epically fails.
It depends on the game honestly, Left 4 Dead 2 is very active and you can find a game very quickly!
Offline it is still the beast it has always been!

I just formatted the hard drive on my Xbox 360E to refresh it and start over and I was surprised at how fast it was to download updates for my games when I launched them. Most updates took only a few seconds, and probably the longest update was GTA V which maybe took around one whole minute. It was great. Also you are right to say that people didn't obsess over resolutions and frame rates like they do now, we just played and enjoyed our systems. Also, as you mention, there were a lot of great games for the 360 and I quite enjoyed Borderlands as well!
It's day and night compared to now days. We get huge day 1 patches, sometimes a disc won't even include the game, just a prompt to download data. Xbox 360 era was definitely my favorite! Really appreciate you watching!

After being a PC Gamer for almost a decade, I forgot how relaxing it was to sit on the couch and play single player games until I bought Mass Effect Legendary Edition on my Series S. Now I want to get a 360 and play all the games I did as a kid.
This is awesome! I am a console gamer and have been my entire life, it's just something I do to relax. There's just something fun about booting up a game and chilling out.

Though I have a Series X and will get a PS5 soon, I recently bought the Xbox Live Arcade Compilation disk for $4 as it has the blades aesthetic in the game menu and an awesome 360 promo vid from 2005. Even with backwards compatibility on the series x, I love firing up the 360.
Prices are going to go up on 360 physical games as well very soon. I implore people to buy now!

I still play my 360, never got rid of it. Also 360 games can be picked up quite easily, as the video game stores where I live, sell xbox 360 games buy one get one free.

I WAS THERE! I remember over 1 million people playing Halo 3 concurrently! Going to midnight releases for Halo, Call Of Duty and other games and then staying up all night playing! Such a great time!

Does dlc still work on Xbox for bo1 & bo2 and if I install it will it be harder to find games
DLC still works but it would likely be harder to find a match for sure.

I used to have a huge 360 collection. Sold most of it for other stuff I wanted. But I will rebuy it again.
Right now is the best time to collect 360 games and things. However, that could change when they close the digital store in July of 2024.

The Star Wars R2D2 Xbox 360 Slim is such a good looking console. Sadly, I couldn't find one in good condition for a decent price when I was replacing my dead 360, so, instead, I bought the standard black 360 S.
I recently got the Star Wars console for a great price, but I also have a few other variants that I love! The Halo Reach and Gears Of War consoles are awesome!
Thanks for sharing my grandson won't play the Xbox 360 because the graphics aren't the quality of a PS5 i tried to explain enjoying the games but he's about the way things look.
If you have an Xbox Series X, some of the 360 games are enhanced to 4K and look great with auto HDR as well. I love current gen gaming, but the 360 era had far more variety and better games overall! Thanks for watching!

I have two limited edition S series that still work but it won’t let me connect to the internet anymore and Microsoft already announced that next July they are closing the Microsoft store for those consoles.
The 360 servers were down for 4 days. They are closing the stores next year, but the servers were just getting maintained. You'll still be able to buy backwards compatible 360 and original Xbox games on the Series X/S stores as well.

@@thegamethrifter yeh. Half the time they dont work properly on release, have missing features or are littered with micro-transactions. The multiplayer / social aspect isnt the same either. Meeting new people, trash talking, strategy etc, its just changed so much. And not for the better. Anyway, im old lol
They ship these new games that need huge updates on day 1. It's crazy to me. Back in the day I'd hit Gamestop for a Call Of Duty midnight release, go home, pop the disc in my 360 and I was playing COD right then and there. Now, even if I buy a disc game, it's got a long install and update....@@Jimii89
I play Call of Duty 3 (backwards compatible) on my Xbox One, if anyone wants to play.

@@thegamethrifter I play it occasionally. The multiplayer is the most unique Call of Duty multiplayer on the market. It's class-based, including a medic feature for downed teammates who didn't choose to respawn. Not to mention, they introduced useable vehicles for the series' first time.
That game holds a special place in me.

Yea, you need to be online to get them. Which isn't a problem for me, but can be for some. On 360 at least you can unlock them offline and then if you go online they'll add them. On newer Xbox consoles they don't really pop offline.

So very recently, the Xbox 360 service has had issues. Even I got an error saying I couldn't connect, but then a couple of days later it was fixed. I believe they're working on the back-end of the service at Microsoft. @@califaern3sto

Yes the ps3 was a NIGHTMARE for 3rd party developers to develop games and most didnt want to even havw to poet their games to ps3 but had no choice. This is especially apprent in the early days of bs3 before they really figured out how to work with the architecture of the console. Call of duty 3 from is is a great example. It is miserable on ps3 compared to xbox 360.

I didn't think about that? Oddly I'm not sure. I have Game Pass Ultimate which includes online on Xbox games.

I tried connecting through Ethernet and Wi-Fi but i couldn't find a solution. Sometimes it connects to Xbox live but after a few minutes it disconnects.

I miss taking 5 minutes to get that damn plastic off popping the game into the disc drive and immediately playing for hours.
Simpler times! When going to a midnight release meant you were playing at 12:25 when you got home! Now, it's crazy because games have like 60 gig day 1 patches lol

Untrue, you can go online on Xbox 360 and even some PS3 games. Wii U also for Mario Kart or Splatoon and certain others .

I had no idea Gears of War removed "War" from its title. PC culture is killing gaming.
I mean everyone calls it Gears, but absolutely shouldn't have removed Of War. The first 3 Gears Of War games are INCREDBLE and one of the reasons is because it wasn't concerned with being politically correct. It's a male skewing game and it didn't pull punches.

Yea, this is my second channel. Haven't mentioned it or anything because I'm trying to build up a good amount of content first. And this channel is so vastly different.
I appreciate it crapgamer, your channel had been my favorite back when I had an XB1. But now... I've grown tired on emphasis for high framerates & resolution. They just don't make systems & games like they used to. A decent PC today won't even do it for me. I've resurrected my Xbox 360 & hoping it all works out for me. @@thegamethrifter
