Even more than I was when I first heard of the foo fighters who aren't that popular here in Germany. I only new Dave from drumming in nirvana and couln't believe what I saw! A 45year lead singer....crazy how time runs and people develop
It wasn't that crazy, I was a devastated teen at the time, but it was good to see Dave and Pat at the time, and glad that Pat had stayed around, cos I loved the germs.
Totally agree, anyways, this was only after 1 year Kurt passed away...Foo Fighters were so Nirvana sounding on this one, that's why this is my favorite Foo album!
Never forget when I heard this song, for me I imagine it had the same impact as teen spirit had for a whole generation, I was blown away and I still love listening to this song almost 30 years later
Although the "Back and forth" documentary reveals that Pat came on board as a legitimate member of the band, which is also why he was there at the 1994 MTV music awards when Dave and Krist took the awards in Kurt's honor. In his diary Kurt mentioned how stoked he was to eventually work with Pat in the studio, too bad that nothing ever came of that.
I remember the first time seeing them on TV back in the 90s, being so surprised-I'd only known Dave from Nirvana, & had no idea that he could sing & play guitar.
when i was watching dave playing drum in nirvana i would never thought that one day he will be a leader singer....this is one year after nirvana... he's got kurt's style here ...his hair, his closed eyes, his clothes even his vocals everything about him in this video is kurt's
true punk is not being covering in blood and having ripped up clothes and screaming, true punk is doing whatever you feel like doing and not giving a shit what others think, that includes making softer music and not caring to have that "punk" sound
dude pat's back up vocals are so good here, what a shame that you couldn't hear him for most of the song. also does anyone know of any other videos of this song where pat sings back up? all i can find so far are taylor doing it and i'm not as fond of his voice.
But according to "Back and forth" Pat joined the band as a legit member, not just as a touring guitarist, which is also why he was there at the 1994 MTV VMA's after Kurt's death. It's too bad though that we never found out what Pat could have contributed to the band if they had recorded an album with him.
You got your numbers all screwed up: Krist' first musical endeavor after Kurt Cobain's death was a band called "Sweet 75" with Mexican Singer Iva Las Vegas around the time that "The color and the shape" came out and in the early 2000's his second musical endeavor was Eyes adrift with Curt Kirkwood of the Meatpuppets. It was only in 2006 that Krist joined Flipper. Dave said that asking Krist was the first thing he did because of the musical link the two have but Krist declined.
Yes he did, it's mentioned in both Krist' book "of grunge and government" and in Dave's book "This is a call". Also prior to starting his career as a politician Krist had a band called "Sweet 75" which according to Dave sounded like "The Byrds gone hardcore"
Whatever you can still listen to the Howard Stern interviews in which Dave clearly says "I never discussed doing music with Krist. (1997 and 2011) those are audios of his actual voice not some written some publication. Sorry you can believe what you want. But the Howard audios don't lie.
Nope, according to "Back and forth" and Dave's book "This is a call" Kurt had expressed that he wanted another guitar player there because of the bigger sound that band would be getting, Nirvana had been a four piece, two guitar player band prior and he missed that full sound he got. Pat Joined as a legit forth member of the band.
I can only imagine how confused i would be if I was a nirvana fan seeing this in 95.

I was just happy to see my people carrying on and still rocking 🤘🖤
@@NikkiBWithTheAdHd I know right. You really summed it up perfect.
By 95 the grunge thing was quite mainstream. Foo was refreshing, was nice to hear a song with a melody again.
Pat Smear is 55 years old and his facial expressions haven't changed one bit
Brett Gourley lel
Why would they?
Pat was always 55 years old, he was born with this same face
truly a lovable guy
Dave has aged the exact same amount and now he looks like a wizard
Good to see they finally got Pat's mic turned on at the end of the song.
he was just foolin around doin lip sync the first part

love pat as a backing vocalist
+Jake Fink Too bad he doesn't have a mic anymore.
he sounds soo good
fuck yes, he is wonderful, even when playing and singing with Nirvana, he totally killed In Bloom. But why doesn't he sing anymore?
This had to be freaky for Dave & Pat. Just a little over a year and they're right back there. Poor guys.
Exactly what I was thinking
+Mance Broome II No please don't talk about it... It's almost heartbreaking. Kurt should be here...
+12truk I'm sorry. He really should have. :"(
lol Dave already said it in many interviews that the only thing he could do after Kurt is to move on, that is, through a new band.
Foo's should have a song where Pat sings lead vocals. Anyone agree?
Me
"I know that it's true" and also "I could stand to prove" About pat
Totally agree, anyways, this was only after 1 year Kurt passed away...Foo Fighters were so Nirvana sounding on this one, that's why this is my favorite Foo album!
definitely! his voice is awesome. much different than his speaking tone also
I dont think so
i’m obsessed with pat he’s the MAN
My dad was the single guitarist for the Detroit band Slaughterhouse, who opened a solo show for Pat once.
Cool too bad they sucked
I actually loved a song they had lol
It is so strange to see Dave Grohl so young not playing the drums...with Kurt
Yes
1 year later kurt's death, Dave already was in the stage! That guy loves the musician career
Dave did the right thing and kept going - he moved on to leading foo fighters. I’m glad he didn’t quit music after Kurt passed away.
Oh yes, he really wanted to continue with his music career.
Really? He's actually a part OF the stage?!
Dave's smile at the end 😅 Just like the Footos ad! Priceless.
Another legendary band started in 1995, directly from the best band ever.
It s quiet a perfect pop song ! It s got that verse is the chorus vibe that the first Beatles hits have too ❤
It fits in really well with '64-65 era Beatles
Omg that smile at the end 😩
Love how everything unfolded for David with the Foo Fighters ❤️
A happy accident as he re recorded the Foo's debut album for fun.
Never forget when I heard this song, for me I imagine it had the same impact as teen spirit had for a whole generation, I was blown away and I still love listening to this song almost 30 years later
They finally turned on Pat’s mic at the end
I love Pat...
It was so funny when I see Pat expression.
Saw them 2 days ago, every song triggers me now I can't stop cryin
Pure rock music, I love it! :D :D Foo Fighters rocks! :D :D
Pat always looks so happy I love it

Such babies!!! Love this!!❤❤❤
I still find it so funny that he used to drum for nirvana. Curt would be so proud of dave
Nice comment but its written kurt
Kurt would have probably loved to trade positions in a band so he probably be the drummer of Foo fighters if he was alive 😂
@Dog bad dog!
And so would Kurt
@vic cap
Relíquia, show!
nirvana played a show here in rebury 1994
Damn soooooo freaking good live
Best drummer
I remember the first time seeing them on TV back in the 90s, being so surprised-I'd only known Dave from Nirvana, & had no idea that he could sing & play guitar.
singing ability has improved a lot in 25 years
I thought the same. He shows all the potential here but you can tell he lacked polish. He damn sure only got better though.
They must have searched people for mentos on the way in.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
being a huge nirvana fan and then seeing dave like this back then just was weird at first but dude is great.
I love the CD with a space gun on the front cover
when i was watching dave playing drum in nirvana i would never thought that one day he will be a leader singer....this is one year after nirvana... he's got kurt's style here ...his hair, his closed eyes, his clothes even his vocals everything about him in this video is kurt's
Pat smear FACES !!!
Pat became a true member. He played on In Utero's tour until the end.
It’s amazing to see the way they’ve come sience then. Neither Chris nor Taylor were in the band
This song reminds me of I'll follow the sun by the beatles
good call.
@@KipCount thx
pat liked that camera a lot

caivs You’ve probably found some since... but there are a few Everlong performances from 1997 having Pat ok backing vocals
Heart shaped Box - Live and Loud
Pennyroyal tea - Live and Loud
thanks fella
hmm either or was thinking live but if he sound ike this in studio that's cool too
just a year before, dave was playing his drums with kurt, pat, and krist
Pat was the live guitarist and is now one of the foo guitarists
HA!!! The ONLY video of Foo's that I have ever seen Pat singing into a mike.
I never knew Pat sang! Pat's awesome
kurt must be proud to see this
LE live dans NPA...mythique cette version....
Pat's voice is so fucking awesome.
a year before this, nirvana played on this same show.
Remind me of this drummer again?.......

I had no idea Pat was such a good singer.
I guess so! Did he sing in nirvana much?
I like it!

Pause at 0:20 and cover half of Dave's face with you hand. I turns young Dave into old Dave.
Wow, Pretty sure this is the same studio that Nirvana had their last TV appearance a little more than a year earlier.
Pat Smear was a true member of Nirvana, was much more than just a rythem guitarist, Nirvana with Pat was the best version of Nirvana.
Hold on. I know that guy!
cool
He already heard it in Dave's demo tapes......
la musica no te deja misio ser
sad to think about
pat....who knew in 1993 that two years later him and dave would have their own band?
Wow. His accent is waaay better now.
i was curious about the author David Grahl he was born January 14, 1969 ( since i thought he was a goood looking guy!(
Yes he did, it's mentioned in both Krist' book "of grunge and government" and in Dave's book "This is a call".
Also prior to starting his career as a politician Krist had a band called "Sweet 75" which according to Dave sounded like "The Byrds gone hardcore"

love how dave's playing a gibson explorer to play "big me" haha
friggin Pat
0:17 he looks a lot like kurt

Oh, Taylor wasn't in the band yet.
Nate and Dave kid mode. Pat can buy food today. kkkkkkkkkkkkkk.
