I think it’s really sweet that girls are trying to understand the game for their friends or boyfriend. those guys are lucky to have girls like you who care enough to take the time to learn something for someone else. RESPECT
Literally me rn I think I’ve watched this video 10 times in a row
They dont learn something for someone Else. They learn it for themselves so they dont feel left out, and dont feel like idiots because they have no idea what they’re watching. And What guy has ever given a fuck about if their girlfriend knows the rules of football or how the supercharger in their car works or why you use the fins you do on your surfboards...no one ever.
I wish I did
@@spiralmoment actually some girls do but I’ll let you have your shine 😂
@@Bubble_nuggets1 wow, thanks. that's so nice of you.
Great video, for years I pretended to know the rules.
thank you! ready for the playoffs and super bowl!

It sucks for me bc i just signed up for middle school football
Razertooth same. I really wanted to play basketball but my mom forced me to play football. I have a game this Tuesday and I barley know any rules!

My boyfriend starts football this year in his first football game is in like 3 days and I just wanted to understand what I was going to watch
Liza's Thoughts same here 🥵
same, i already kinda understood it but wanted to know all the terms so i don’t look like a noob
my boyfriend’s first game is tomorrow and i can relate
The guy I like is interested in football and I have no idea how it works
Let's make a girls only party and discuss american football?
you know what nvm. this is harder than learning a foreign language. i’ll just keep cheering whenever everyone else cheers
Haha that is literally me!!
I do the same thing!
@Rengoku lol maybe if you’re interested, it’d be easier to learn if you actually started playing on a team? idk tho.
@Rengoku ah i get you. oh and good luck with basketball!
@Rengoku bro football is the bedr
The only true way to learn football is to watch it. It's boring as hell at first, but once you understand it's great.
Thats 100% right.First i understood nothing, and now i get addicted to it, more and more.
Exactly. Plus all the stoppage which u dont normally see in other sport. This is probly why the rest of the world either doesnt get it or think its boring
BIG FACTS
Orlando Boi that goes for every game
Very true
I’m in the marching band and I got tired of going to every game without understanding it
Cassie Lipton lol me too

That’s exactly why I’m here
Cassie Lipton Saaaammee
Cassie Lipton same, it’s why I was looking for a short video. We’ve been to three football games already and I didn’t know what was going on. 😂😂
Never in my life has a game confused me this much
watch baseball
Shit I play football and still don't understand it
Matthew Layne Lmao 😂😂😂
I'm really amazed by football.
I watch it and i play madden and stuff etc.. But tbh, i still don't understand 85% of it.
Try rugby, we moved to New Zealand and I wanted to try a new sport rugby is very confusing
1. Catch the ball
2. Throw it in the air
3. Run around like a chicken with its head cut off
4. If you see a person, tackle them
It’s that simple!
That’s not even relatively close to what football is but ok
@@jacob6540 offense: 1-have ball
2- a.Pass ball b.Run ball
3-you get far you start where you left, you don't you have 4 chances to do
4-score tochdown
5-go yipee kay yay
@@lucamagnani5243 ive been playing football all my life im aware of how the sport works which is why i said thats not what football is. its actually a lot more thought out and complicated then just tackling people and running around

he'd probably prefer you didn't , id definitely not just assume he'd love that at all.
I understand it now. but one thing I struggle with is the amount of times the players stop and start again
MarvNTreyHD Blog in the NFL you have a play clock, you have 40 sec to call and execute another play.
yes, that is one of the big differences with European football. In the US there are so many commercials and the game is always stopping and starting. It is nice with soccer to be able to watch 45minutes of non-stop playing :)
Yes me too!!!
Because football is almost akin to chess, with disparate moves.
Sameee
Thank you!! My son is a football buff, and I am trying to bond with him during the games without asking too many questions, which understandably, can be annoying during the game! I think you did a great job explaining the game to us with no knowledge whatsoever! I am ready to surprise him with using some to these terms now :)
w mom
That's very sweet
Thanks, now i can watch football with my dad and understand why he yell's so much
Finally! I short, good video that actually explains football! Now I don't look like a noob whenever I watch football with my friends.

It has taken me 43 years to find this, to finally understand what in the world is happening on the football field. Thank you !

I have wanted to be a coach ever since I was little. I stopped paying attention because I am a girl and I thought girls couldnt coach or play. Here I am, going to fulfill my childhood dream when I go into college. Im going into 8th grade and was told they wouldnt select me even if I was good to be on the team. All because I’m a starter on volleyball. Thank you for helping me. This wont be the last of me and one day maybe y’all will all hear my real name.
I never grew up watching football. My girlfriend loves it. This really helped me get a basic idea of what's going on before watching more advanced videos and watching games. Thanks!

What is it opposite day? But I'm a guy and still don't know all the rules and what all players can do yet
@@snoopboop8012 why do you ask if its "opposite day"? because a female understood it and not the male?
@@hihihi_813 no because the girl loves it and the guy never watches, literally the opposite of how it typically is
I've tried many times to find something that lays out the basics like this, but I never really "got" it. Thanks to your video, I feel like I finally understand how this game works! Thank you!
Going to be a mascot this semester. When we score I actually need to know WHEN we score. 🤔 Wish me luck!

Most importantly 5 seconds of American Football and 10mins of commercials *repeat for 4 hours*

Finally a good nice start for understanding the game! I played Rugby Union during college and I could never understand how/why American Football is so different, but now I get it. Although both games have the same "ends", the "means" are so different. Great video.
Finally got into American football after many years of Football (Soccer), Boxing, Wrestling, and MMA; needed a quick breakdown of how the game is played because so many of my fiancé's family are into football. I kind of felt left out because I didn't understand the rules. Thanks for the video!
Didn't grow up watching football, but my husband is a fanatic. Finally caved to trying to understand. This was VERY helpful, thanks!
I have to do this in gym and my pe teacher was teaching this and I wasn't paying attention which led me here.
*History*
I just decided to watch this for fun, despite the fact I know the rules. Looking at the comments, I never really thought about how confusing the rules could seem to those who haven’t experienced it a lot. Great video!
He missed some things though that he should of mentioned to ppl who dont understand
I’m signing up for football and my friend sent me this video, this helped me get a better understanding on how the game actually works.
let me know if you have any questions, good luck
Thank you for making this. We have season passes for my college and I have no clue about football. You can ask me about roller derby and I could give you rules about that but I was so confused about what was happening. Again thank you for giving such concise and easy explanations on what is going on so I can stop bugging people and enjoy the game.
Now this season will make sense, thank you!
Sam, this was an excellent presentation! Very affective and if there is something a person isn’t sure of, they can always go back and follow your instructions. Here’s something that you said, which quite frankly gets overlooked when a person is explaining the mechanics of the game; but you touched on brilliantly. If the offense is 20 yards from their own end zone, and they are desperately trying to gain a first down, which is 10 yards. The offense isn’t lucky and they are on their 4 down. You explained it perfectly as to why it may be strategically much better to punt the ball to the defensive team. Because if they try to go for it on 4th and 10, and don’t make it, the other team gains possession of the ball on their 20 yard line. You’re making it easier for the other team to score with just 20 yards to your end zone. No one else went over that point and I commend you for covering that key strategic point. 🤠
Thanks for the nice comment, whether or not to go for it on fourth down is one of the most important decisions for a coach, more and more in recent years in the pros at least , teams seem to go for it more often than in the past because offenses are so good now. Perhaps I’ll make a part II, or maybe try baseball , thanks
I always understood the basics and all but this is a great refresher and really all you need to know, besides a few basic guidelines or rules. Such as holding, false start, and unnecessary roughness/ sportsmanship. Thanks for the video, really was a great refresher!
This is by far the best football lesson I've ever had. Good job and thx! :)
The presentation is authentic. Just like my college professor's power point.
Forgot about interceptions. :/ 😐
And fumbles and fouls..
Fouls? What country are you from?
jordan herring Er, no. You can't.
There are fouls in football, such as pass interference and illegal holding.
Those are called penalties, not fouls.
After literally years of watching football and not understanding it I finally get why people love it. It’s just very complicated at first
First, this sounds really similar to my principal, and two, this helped ALOT!!! Because my new friends are mostly boys that play football at recess, and even my best friend which is a girl wants to play it,and usually i dont want to. When I go back to school im gonna be ready to play!
I am interested in American football since few monts :) and i am really getting into it. It seems to me the rules are way more complicated, compared to football(soccer), maybe because i grew up with it. Lots of strategy and brute force. I really like it!
Thank you for simple explanation. I used to be a low self confidence Eurocuck who would scream our football is better than yours. But I've worked on myself and start watching some American football and thoroughly enjoy it.
glad to help, it's not better or worse than soccer, just different.
you're still a low self confidence Eurocock who now enjoys American football
I watched this video 8 months ago to understand before I went to tryouts. A lot has happened but I appreciate this vid. I played jv the whole season as a receiver (mostly) and am gonna play varsity next year. Hopefully there'll be more girls though bc last season it was just me and two others on vars - running back and receiver.
you are a legend! this is so to the point and clear, thanks for taking the time.
glad to help!
Thank you for this very helpful video. This video helped me understand the rules of football quite well. Great job
Thanks for this! Im gonna play football next year for my school and this helps a lot since I have no family members who play football and can help me
Salem Witch I couldn’t relate more, my family isn’t really into sports and I’ll getting to that time where if you don’t play sports than you are wierd so :/
Salem Witch so u finna join a sport in which u know nothing about????
isaacTGOD44 that’s how everyone starts football
Starting football my freshman year wish me luck
I LOVE Football and have been watching it for years. However, this video explained stuff I never realized.
This honestly helped a lot. Now when i watch football, or movies with football, I wont look like an idiot. Short but very informative.
Football confuses me so much, I’ll just stick to soccer 👍🏽
European Football is actually almost as complex, in ''soccer'' is all about Space and Formations, not just kicking a ball, offsides and 90 minutes of running no breaks for Gatorade.
@@eddiemperor yea i know soccer has a lot of formations in tactics but just playing it alone with friends you don’t really need all that in American football you do
@@Yehoyoshi Depends on what you do, if you are a winger is basically a tight end if you stretch your players far wide, a forward is almost a receiver, a playmaker can be the QB a great 10 like Messi or a 7 finisher like Ronaldo, these guys run, jump and tackle like hell and Soccer is also a fast brutal sport with no protection. I love both, American Football is def an Art of its own even on their league.
@@Yehoyoshi It's more of a culture thing i agree American is Unique as far as culturally, as Soccer is worldwide, I love all Sports.
@@Yehoyoshi A lot of the Art of all Sports is that it can be very unpredictable, in Soccer a team can score a tie or win even in the very last minute of the game so does football, a lot of outcomes are based on simple accidents, in Soccer is all about playmaking where the art comes in.
This was very helpful! Thank You
Learning this so that when my boyfriend wants to watch football or when he tells me about it I can understand him and ACTUALLY contribute to the conversation!
My crush plays football and is really good but when I talk to him about it I’m always like what does that mean so I’ve been researching all night and a 5 minute video had taken me over 45 minutes because of all the notes I’m taking I’ve only watched 2:26 minutes 😂 Im really trying for him 😂 this is the most dedicated I’ve ever been to anything in my entire life! This is a great video thank you so much idk what I would do without you!!!!! :))))
Thank you. It helped me in understanding the game today. Explicit and Simple.

Thank you! For years I wanted to understand football but everyone who explained it made it complicated for me. Then my ex loved the game so i would watch without understanding. But now I want to genuinely watch for my own enjoyment. I'm honestly going to have to watch this video a lot to get it. Lol

Thank you very much I've been watching football for 35 years I love it but I always get the name of the positions on the field far as the players goes but this time I decided I wanted to learn them since we are is the Floridians in the Super Bowl also hosting it as you know and your video was tremendous help thanks
I think its adorable so many girls are here making an effort just to bond with their boyfriends or even sons. It's touching.
Now I'll be able to understand the smack I'ma talk tomorrow to the Navy!

Q: What does PETA have in common with the Army?
A: They both don't like to get their hands on pigskin.
I’m just trying to prepare for the superbowl
Thanks for this! This really helped me understand the game - just in time for the much anticipated Super Bowl!
Thank You, glad to help
Thanks I’m a freshman a little bit on the smaller side I’m like 5’3-5’4 but I’m trying to be a running back and this helped me out cause it’s gonna be my first year playing football
I kinda am proud I knew more than I thought I did....I just needed to know the words besides "the dude..that one"
Any mom's here to learn this sport? It's more exciting knowing the rules or at least have midlevel knowledge. My son's are wide receivers. Yrs ago I couldn't figure out why they weren't tackling, I kept telling them they should be more aggressive & go in for a tackle so I could get better pictures. They would roll their eyes at me, prob thinking "I'm not even going to try explaining it to my dumb mom". 🤔🏈
Great video! I learned more in 5 minutes than in the many years of my husband trying to explain it to me.
Had to learn this for gym class. Thanks :)
Great video as I'm going to start playing football, so now I have an idea what to do
at what age do people start playing football in the states?
Luca Magnani whenever really. There are different leagues for different ages. Some leagues use flags that you are supposed to pull off instead of tackling, better for younger ones. But there is also tackle football for little kids
It’s a little hard to understand with all the awkward pauses but this really helped 😁👍
There were awkward pauses? You must have used your barista superpowers or something.
I'm a girl in highschool class of 2022, and I wanna play football. I managed football and my love for it grew from there. I had loved watching the sport beforehand but becoming a manager and watching the practices and process made me more immersed than ever I fell in love with the game and team. I'm determined to ready myself not just physically but mentally understanding the game by book.
i hope that you reach your goals, good luck and remember to enjoy!
Thank you so much for the video. I’m in South Africa and their showing the Superbowl tonight. Atleast I won’t be totally confused 😃

Who in here knows how to play and just watching just for fun
Diego Lara I just ended up on this on my recommended section
It’s 3:14 AM and I know how to play, but yet I’m still watching...
Yeah I'm a big football fan and know most of what there is to know, so I've been trying to teach my 7yo grandson. So I ended up watching this video to show him next time I see him. But honestly, if I didn't already know how to play, I think this video would be confusing! Some things he said were alright but I definitely would've explained other things differently!
I'm usually in the front in the stands since I'm part of the marching band color guard, and I really wanna know what's going on instead of just getting hype after seeing a touchdown since its the only thing I know, this helped a lot! Thank you!
I needed this bc all my friends are interested and know about football while i knew nothing
When does the other team switch to defense or offense?
They switch possession of the ball if the offense is unable to get a first down in 4 attempts. if the offense decides to punt the ball, the other team will receive it. if the offense throws an interception or fumbles the ball, the other team gets it
Also when one team scores a field goal or gets a touchdown and tries the extra point or the conversion, next the team that scored kicks off to the opposing team. The direction of the first kickoff is decided by the winner of a coin toss. At halftime the direction of the two teams goals reverses. The fumble only results in a turnover if the defending team picks it up. The former defender can now try to gain as much yardage as he can on the play, up to and including a touchdown. If the fumbling team recovers it, they maintain possession.
Hey Samuel! I just did a reaction to your explanation of AF (basically didn't know anything about that sport before): czcams.com/video/_Uzo11Hy-l8/video.html
I'm still a bit confused about all the different points one can score and all, but I definitely got a better / first understanding of this sport because of your vid. Thanks for clarifying and explaining those things! Cheers from Germany! :)
cheers! hopefully the world will get back to normal next year
Thanks. I know nothing about 🏈, but now I know a little more than before this video.
See you at the game!
I've been learning a lot about football for the past year and now I'm looking back at the very first video I've looked at. Time to keep going further, we got a lot of more years before draft day for me. I really want to be starting QB for the packers.

that is a very important position, especially in todays passing dominant offenses...really important for that position is smarts and being really aware of the other team's receivers, and stretches and lots of sprints, running forward, sideways, backwards, criss cross feet stuff, almost like a soccer player u know...good luck and remember to drink water
Just don't let anyone get past ya

I just found out that my guy friend is on his High Schools football team and he's having a game soon and he also said I could come to his game so I wanted understand the game before I go so thanks for the video it rly helped
This is great!! My son is about to start playing football and I LOVE football but I realized I haven’t taught him anything! He didn’t even know what defense or offense was or what a quarterback is. I felt like I failed him haha. We showed up for his first day of football camp and while waiting for everyone to gather, the coach was quizzing these other little 6 year olds on professional players and the kids had to say what team they were from, what their position was, and what their jersey number was haha. And most of them could answer!!! So we are learning how to play the game at home now while he is doing skills camp haha
great story, sounds like a fun activity to share, enjoy!
