I worked for Lucas family as a nanny. He was a lovely kind man and adored his wife and children. I had no idea who he was when interviewed and took him just as another daddy .
I had been to a concert where a previous employer had been playing violin and got a ride back to the Vialli home. When the taxi driver heard the Vialli name he went nuts, so excited that he was driving to the house. My violinist was a very famous musician but the taxi driver was not impressed by that. My condolences to Catherine and family, so upset and shocked by the news. Luca was a real gentleman.

Thank you for sharing, one of my best friends as a kid played Chelsea's youth team at the time Luca Vialli was there, We used to ask him how he was a player, (As that time we were still watching Italian football on channel 4, so we knew all about him before his move to Chelsea). My friend just turned an told us he was such a nice man with zero arrogance...and he gave him his Chelsea 1st team, Umbro training jumper....and told him to shadow him and watch every move on the pitch. I just so hope my mate STILL has that jumper.

Juventus fan here. What a player Vialli was, he could score in all manners a striker should - left foot, right foot, headers, first-time shots, shots after dribbles in close ranks, long range blasts, volleys, everything. He was very talented but also very mobile, his constant running could wear out a full defence.
Always liked his celebrations, he exploded with joy when it actually made sense, otherwise he was just happy to have done his job. Nothing like the shows players put up today. He was sure of himself but not arrogant, actually he often came out as - if not humble - capable of listening.
He was quite combative but also clean and loved fair play and especially playing for the team.
And he was a clever nice bloke off the pitch too, never heard him say anything stupid.
A great guy, a true image of the football that was, the romanticized but also truly more romantic game of the 1980s and 1990s, both for us Italians and I guess for you guys in England.
So sorry he has left us

@I HATE RATS!!! It's total respect brother I know the rivalry between us and Chelsea but today My friend that is put aside I have supported Leeds United for 51years now our rivalry goes back a long way. But Gianluca was a first class Gentleman 👏 had style and skill but he wasn't a Big head a modest down to earth 🌍 man who you would love round to meet your family and have for tea and I have heard that he was just that man which football is sadly lacking today he had time for everyone opponents and rival supporter's alike which is rare now a days. He will sadly be missed but I can say I did see him play live at Elland Road 🏟️🦚🇮🇨🤝🙏🏐 total respect 👏
