Last 2 songs of the Grace Potter and the Nocturnals House of Blues Boston set from 3/25/11......GPN returning to Boston August 20th at the BOA Pavilion.
Fantastic video, thanks for sharing. The Nocturnals were an amazing band, such a shame that they split. I was lucky enough to see them on their only(?) European gig at Bush Hall in London, an unforgettable night!
An awesome performance, but no one can compare to Ann Wilson on the original "Crazy on You". I think that acoustic guitar intro was awesome! That guy deserves an award for that!!! Great job by everyone!
This was a big show for the band in terms of PR, and she was sick as a dog that night....still sounds pretty good, despite that. I have a bunch of other videos from this show and another in Boston, before the original band was broken up.
You know, seeing Grace live down here in the Waitsfield valley of Vermont is always cool and yet challenging as she has a lot of fans out there that want some of her time and energy. Having known her since she as about 13-14 was when we first met through her dad Sparky who I've know for well over 40 years, sign and bar top maker extraordinaire! Anyways, I always enjoy saying hello out of respect and the chance just to see that awesome smile and those brilliant teeth, LOL. TIP!* She likes the farmers market on Saturdays in the valley if your around, and The Hideawy is great spot to go have a drink and some fab food as well. Big summer ahead for Grace and co, Woodstock in Bethel at the original site and on the Vineyard another on my list, hope to see you somewhere. Rock n roll.
That's not the into to Crazy on You, it's actually a separate piece called Silver Wheels. You could say he either messed up Silver Wheels or added his own piece before Crazy on You.
orlock20 I'd say Benny made it his own, as he does in a different way EVERY SINGLE TIME he plays it, and I've seen the band 6 times live - twice they've done "Crazy", and YES, Benny made it his own each time. Great band!
Great!! Just gonna mention...fans of Heart...Ann's daughter Gretchen can hit those high notes!! Does Barracuda with Alice in Chains...tears it up! Not trying to steal GP thunder at all...just passing some info on!
I agree Ann is on Mt Olympus but the Rock Honors show w/ Gretchen Wilson singing is amazing. Grace isn't bad on it (even if she can't dance, she can sing and play) but it also shows her wide and excellent taste in music. Check out her whole set on LFDH, especially Low Road.
Well I guess you just had to be there... (not that I was). The crowd loved it, he was having fun and that's infectious live. If you're a musician and perform live you should understand that and respect it. Self indulgent? Listen to Led Zepplin live version(s) of Stairway to Heaven and more... their (and many others when performing live) dalliances didn't diminish the song or the incredible artistry of the authors/players, it was the heat of the moment (and maybe some drugs LOL)!
You do realize Zeppelin were the biggest tune pirates of that era, and down right unapologetic about it too? Plus this is a jam band the whole point of which is too take a few side roads and get lost a bit before finally taking the long way back home. Zeppelin were just basically a heavy British prog band that had aspirations to be Fairport Convention and though hey sounded like they might be jamming and wandering they always took the same exact carefully choreographed roads back. I seen them a few time on both sides of the Atlantic and other than a tweak or two to the set list their show barely varied.
Grace isn't Ann Wilson.. she's Grace Potter. They are different people. Grace stands alone as an amazing, beautiful talent. I can listen to her music every day and not get tired of hearing her voice.
I like scenery-chewing self-indulgent rock performances as much as the next guy, and Ms. Potter is obviously a charismatic and sexy stage performer, but I don't enjoy screaming without a great vocal range and great tone to back up the screaming, and I don't hear that here. By contrast I'd say Lzzy Hale does the screaming thing too, but she has the vocal chops to back it up.
This is an admirable try, but the thing that Ann Wilson was telling when she said "My love the pleasure is mine," this that she knew something he didn't. This girl sounds too wasted to have same knowledge. I still enjoyed it ,though.
Sorry to hear. That like came from me. As for the other person with the language, they've been reported. People need to be civil on here. Not every performance is perfect, and I did go through the trouble to say the effort was admirable. I didn't have to do that, and it's not "hate." I should also point out that most often, while covers are a nice idea, in the end, the song is most known and loved by the person who created it. They have an intimacy with it that an admirer can't have. I check covers because I'm interested in musicians, but I should be able to critique what I hear without someone being a problem or a jerk. Really, they should grow up.
Yeesh! If she can't hit the notes she shouldn't be murdering her voice screaming them. And what's with the ultra breathy stuff? Total train wreck of a performance.
This was their first "big city" show and I saw some behind the scenes video about it, and Grace was really sick before the show.....literally drinking warm tea and honey seconds before she went on.
WHAT THE HELL!!!! That was the worst sloppy self indulgent intro to any song not to mention a classic. The poor dude looks like he needs to make potty which is where he playing obviously is. I know opinions are like A-Holes, everyone has one, but come on. What is with the headbanging. Vocally, I want to never to hear them again. I have to go listen to a real band now.
Breathe man, breathe.......she is not Ann Wilson, but she and her band put on an enjoyable, tight show (She was actually sick the night of this show at the HOB)
ssinop oooooooooooooooops, yeah that was really bitter sounding. I think perhaps I will put on oven mitts next time i feel so vile. It's hard to type with oven mitts on.
Dude, it's just a band on You tube. Whether or not you like this cover or the band in general...In the end...they're just a band on you tube. GET A FUCKIN life if you're seriously making such a big deal out of it. It's a great cover in their own way- as part of a BIGGER show (everything's better live), and evidently you didn't play it through till "Medicine"?? if you were open minded enough to listen to their original stuff, maybe you'd change your mind
Anytime you see a GPN video and Catherine is on base, that was the best of the best of GPN
😮 How long have you been waiting to show me this song? That's your great.
I told you, sarah you need to w
Clara keep watchings grace potter you can beat it like a one day
Fantastic video, thanks for sharing. The Nocturnals were an amazing band, such a shame that they split. I was lucky enough to see them on their only(?) European gig at Bush Hall in London, an unforgettable night!
Grace is bad ass she is amazing
An awesome performance, but no one can compare to Ann Wilson on the original "Crazy on You". I think that acoustic guitar intro was awesome! That guy deserves an award for that!!!

Grace is as Top Notch as it gets Brother ❤
I miss the nocturnals.
Big time
First time hearing this group, FREAKING AMAZING!!!
Great live performance! Great Energy! Very enjoyable live! Everyone does not need to be so critical. Just enjoy the music.
This was a big show for the band in terms of PR, and she was sick as a dog that night....still sounds pretty good, despite that. I have a bunch of other videos from this show and another in Boston, before the original band was broken up.
Best current rock act, but they are amazing at covers and originals! I love her and the guys!
This was 3 months before the Bonnaroo show? The best Medicine performance ever, IMHO!!
That nocturnals is most definitely a ❤️ heart fan.
I don't care if someone posts a negative comment - this is just so good to see and so well done!
This is a fantastic band, singer and all round performance!
The guitar player has great tone!,anyone who thinks different is to young to know better.

Grace not behind a Hammond is hell. Grace behind a Hammond is Heaven.
Dead good! That is a show!
A great version!
Music is not a competition. Enjoy it all.
Awesome vocals, Grace !!
nice to see old songs re-done
+Lori Haggerty Yes. Good observation. It is good.
So groovy! I LOVE this rock chick!
all amazing
Just a real quality cover, and Benny's early solo is just plain dirty!
GPN ROCKS!!!!!!
Nugs never been and dis this. Oopsie frig daisies. So powerful.
The girl playing the Fender Precision Bass and the Ampeg SVT is a pretty good bass player... Good on her
+Ronald Cairns
Cat Popper - gorgeous and talented.
Ronald Cairns
Catherine Popper - awesome bass player - and easy on the eyes - too bad the Nocturnals couldn't keep Cat on the team
Too bad Grace couldnt keep the Nocturnals together you mean.
She been in band long time. Shy bass. She can hard hit it
You want to see the intro done right... Heart - Crazy on You (Live 1977) from The Midnight Special
That's not the into to Crazy on You, it's actually a separate piece called Silver Wheels. You could say he either messed up Silver Wheels or added his own piece before Crazy on You.
orlock20
I'd say Benny made it his own, as he does in a different way EVERY SINGLE TIME he plays it, and I've seen the band 6 times live - twice they've done "Crazy", and YES, Benny made it his own each time. Great band!
14:10-15:20 = freakin' awesome! (As if the rest isn't, right?) Must have been an incredible show. So glad she kicked off her shoes at the end!
A ripper concert !!! ❤❤😊😊
Frikin' Grace. Wow.
Love Grace Potter. But wow, this tells you all you needed to know about Ann Wilson.
Amezing performance
Y'all need to give Grace a break this is probably recorded off somebody's freaking cell phone, Grace go crazy on me anytime she wants
first time I saw her was on Daryl's House ck it out.And she could go crazy on me anytime while we listen to Heart .
Disgusting
omg I am so glad Grace is singing Crazy on You....her voice reminds me of Ann Wilson's voice so much
Agreed
Loved it!~
@okiturtles She always kicks her shoes off at the end of their shows. Then she really rocks out. :)
I'm afraid that I'd do crazy things to take some of Grace's "Medicine"
She bleeds 4 things I never neeeeededddd
GRACE ROCKSTAR
you know they have been around for a few years now.
Good job, but I'm still captivated by Nancy Wilson's intro to COY!! ;)
Heart ❤️ crazy on you.
Kick ass.
Great!! Just gonna mention...fans of Heart...Ann's daughter Gretchen can hit those high notes!! Does Barracuda with Alice in Chains...tears it up! Not trying to steal GP thunder at all...just passing some info on!
Gretchen Wilson is not related to Ann Wilson. Anns daughter Marie is much younger than Gretchen.
She's is a badass rock n roll chick, frigging gorgeous too
So freakin' awesome!
I have other vids from this and another boston show also on youTube
When you play the intro to this song, on acoustic guitar you have to follow the tradition, and do a high kick.
Agreed!
BEST ROCK WAS OUT OF THE 70'S.....GOOD TO SEE NEW BANDS BRING IT BACK AROUND.....BUT NO ONE DOES ANN WILSON BUT ANN WILSON!
I agree Ann is on Mt Olympus but the Rock Honors show w/ Gretchen Wilson singing is amazing. Grace isn't bad on it (even if she can't dance, she can sing and play) but it also shows her wide and excellent taste in music. Check out her whole set on LFDH, especially Low Road.
he's got nothing on Nancy, but they do rock!
I thought she was just another pop lip syncher so I never listened to her until about 7 or 8 years ago. She is incredible!
Great perfomance thow
Pretty good cover band lol.. Intro was the best part haha
I just effing marvel at Benny Yurco's guitar intro on this one. LIke HOLY SHIITE>
Come on sarah seeing this for me
Buncha lunatics - brilliant! :-)
Why did they get rid of Kat?
Gp-great Preformance

It's a shame that Grace dropped the Medicine drum solo from her current show. :(
Sound quality is awful, but she is KILLING it here!!!!
Did she take her shoes off
Which one???
Achei muita informação sem
Necessidade, não achei legal ,
Me desculpe é a minha opinião
#instantfan
I love Grace Potter, but she can't hit Ann Wilson's highs. No comparison.
Dude Ann Wilson can not hit Robert Plants high's when Heart does Zep covers get real and stop comparing!!!!
Grace isn't Ann Wilson.. she's Grace Potter. They are different people. Grace stands alone as an amazing, beautiful talent. I can listen to her music every day and not get tired of hearing her voice.

Why are you all head banging when this is not a head bagging song
Stripper rock.
good but overplayed no Nancy wilson
Grace ain't really Grace till she gets barefoot......
This is an admirable try, but the thing that Ann Wilson was telling when she said "My love the pleasure is mine," this that she knew something he didn't. This girl sounds too wasted to have same knowledge. I still enjoyed it ,though.
I saw an interview with her after this show, and she was actually pretty sick that night, and you can hear it in her voice.

reported?...fascist!
Meh....I like this band...but this was less than impressive.
Yeesh! If she can't hit the notes she shouldn't be murdering her voice screaming them. And what's with the ultra breathy stuff? Total train wreck of a performance.
Not a big fan of yelling and screaming to cover the high notes you cannot hit. Sloppy performance.
This was their first "big city" show and I saw some behind the scenes video about it, and Grace was really sick before the show.....literally drinking warm tea and honey seconds before she went on.

oooooooooooooooops, yeah that was really bitter sounding. I think perhaps I will put on oven mitts next time i feel so vile. It's hard to type with oven mitts on.
Calm down fella, it's a tough lick. He did fine.
Dude, it's just a band on You tube. Whether or not you like this cover or the band in general...In the end...they're just a band on you tube. +William B Damn tough lick!
A great version!
