  • This video is a brief summary of Czech Easter traditions. From the intricate and colorful decorations of Easter eggs (kraslice) to the age-old practice of whipping with pomlázka. I also showcase some traditional Czech Easter food and pastry.

People still bake lamb-shaped cakes in the US. My Czech grandmother used to dye Easter eggs using onion skins, since that was all her family could afford. They turned a sort of brownish-reddish color.

I'm a big fan of this channel and I have to say that the quality of the materials is very good. Well above the number of subscribers, which means that the channel has development potential, because the materials are of good quality.
I believe that the channel can get a big boost in popularity when The Witcher 1 Remake and The Witcher 4 are released. Because you say things from the Slavic cultural universe.
PS In Polish, "Baranek" is also said "Baranek". We use the same word for it. 😀

Thank you, I'm glad to hear that 🙂 Comments like these are such a helpful motivation to keep going. It's easier to push through all the tedious editing when I know that there are people who really appreciate the result.

Making noise in the week before easter is also a Tradition in the Eifel Mountains in Germany.
The saying is that the Village bell flys to Rome and noise has to be made as replacement for the bell and protection against bad luck.

I saw your comment on a Jazza video so I thought I'd come take a look. The Easter traditions are very interesting! You have a lot more traditions than what we have in Australia.

Thank you for checking out the video and commenting 🙂 Hope you've enjoyed it 😉 Yeah, we have a lot of traditions like these throughout the year and a lot of them come from our Slavic roots. Nobody is covering stuff like this on CZcams so I decided that I'll try to fill this gap in the market and share our culture with the rest of the world and hopefully people will find it interesting 😁

Some of these traditions also can be found in Bavaria and Austria. And why not... we're all central Europeans with a long history after all.

you dont have to address "controversy". those offended are ridiculous. i love visitng CZ for easter. been many years. and ive seen youngsters go door to door collecting treats with their twigs. its more cute these days. like halloween.
