Ol Blue Rescues A Couple Grand Cherokees

- We got a call later in the day for a Jeep stuck on Elephant Hill. The Park had contacted another tow company in town and their off-road wrecker was down so they called us. Mike and I jumped in OK Blue and drive from Moab to Canyonlands. We picked the customer up at the visitors center and then drove over Elephant Hill to the Jeep. He was backing up the switchback and had dropped a tire off the edge of the retaining wall. He had a winch but not enough line to get to anything substantial and he was very uncomfortable with the situation so he called for help. We got there and after checking the situation we decided on a pull forward. It came out fairly easy. The next day Shawn and I went out on Fins And Things to get another Grand Cherokee that had broken its front driveshaft. So we got to the vehicle and pulled the front shaft out then drove it back to town. We had to pull it up one hill to get it out. Then down to the mechanic shop for repairs. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

That was WAY too easy. No cables snapping, people hollering WHOA, WHOA and boulders plummeting down the cliff! Better for the customer and the safety of all concerned. Best outcome possible. Also, a good example of why Rory does all those "stunts" driving an obstacle backwards for fun. When he needs the skill, he has it. Best off road channel on youtube.
I love all the off-road channels equally; they all bring something to my daily enjoyment of CZcams. But I can't for the life of me figure out how Rory and the gang have only 221k subscribers????
Good question! Rory is one of three channels I watch for new episodes. He has become one of my favorites.
I agree, if people shared his videos on other media type places more would know about is and others channels.
It's easy to see that Mike has the utmost confidence in you and your rig by where he was standing when you were backing up that hill!
Funny! I was thinking the same thing.
Well I think Mike is aware of the old adage that the cameraman never dies!!😊😅😂
I just love how Rory takes a basically stock 4wd tow truck on trails we’re most people are driving highly modified, purpose built, off-road vehicles. He always makes it look easy so now I guess he’s doing it in reverse just to increase the difficulty. Show off!
Rory is the Ginger Roger's of off road recoveries. He does everything everyone else does, just backwards and in Dad shoes
I suspect there’s not to many people who would even take that truck where you went, mad skills. Another fine recovery
Love that color green ❤
I was totally surprised when that first vehicle came out so smoothly. Good call Rory
And yes another successful recovery by the Trail Mater Crew. And thank you Mike for AWESOME Camera Work. It makes us feel like we're right there with you guy's. Thanks for the video guy's can't wait for the next one.
You can tell when a man has mad skills when you can back a vehicle as good as you can drive forward. A little bit of a head on a swivel. Man and machine are as one. Once again great camera work and recovery.
I have no idea why this channel doesn't have a million subs or more. Compared to all the other off road recovery channels Rory and his crew are the most skilled and exciting to watch. Not to mention he really doesn't press his merch or have a billion adds in one 20 minute video. Like share and subscribe folks.
Wow pretty impressed with ole blue. Backed up that hill and didn't even turn a tire over without lockers. Great job to the pilot of the Great Machine.
Nice recoveries. Smart to stop before he made it worse. No shame in calling for help. Thanks for sharing.
Subtle flex: recover customer that can’t back-up good, then back a dually back down the whole trail 9:43 😂
Great to see ole Blue on the trail again doing recoveries. With your vast assortment of recovery vehicles you can do about any job. You usually have a vehicle for every job depending on where it's at and whether it's a trail fix or a recovery. You guys can do it all. Thanks for another video. I really enjoy watching them
Some of the best filming I’ve seen yet.
Old blue to the rescue
Man, is Old Blue a good looking wrecker. It’s almost as handsome and capable as Rory, Mike and Sean.
The driver of the red jeep got lucky, holy crap.
I've watched alot of 4x4 youtubes. Ole blue and trailmater are the only 4x4s ive seen that are able to backup a big hill. Awesome job building these trucks.
The most perilous part of that video was watching you back up that trail! Nerves of steel man! The rock formations in that place are unreal.
Ol’ Blue is one good looking truck! I really like the fact that he isn’t afraid of using his trucks. ❤
That is the best lookin' GREEN Ol' Blue I've seen yet!! That's one fine looking truck. 😂🤣
Ol’ Blue sure is a beautimus color! 🙏❤️😎🤙🛻💨
Great to see your vision of Ol' Blue come to fruition and it's awesome!
Man that paint is well done
Another great rescue by Trail Mater, always impressed with the back up 4 X 4 driving, thanks for bringing us along
The Blue Green show is always entertaining.
I feel like Rory doesn't gear NEAR enough credit for his driving skills! That madman wheels everything in these wreckers and usually hauls another vehicle out with him!
Shawn and Rory always put a grin on my face. Good days work fellas 🇺🇲
I love that old blue isn't blue.
Dammit Rory, I love to see the work you guys do (and act like it's nothing). The trust and confidence that you have in your rig/s and equipment is second to none. The hired help aint bad either.
One big old bruised thumb up!!!
my lord what a great look'n truck
You made saving that jeep over the edge look easy. 👍
I am glad you got the first recovery done so easily. That went so well. Just glad I wasn't the one having to back up old Blue up that trail. especially sense I can't back up worth spit even on flat ground.
Ol' Blue is now too pretty to scratch! That truck is my new favorite!
Good video of Rory, Shawn and Mike doing what they do and recovering vehicles and doing trail repairs and driving them out! Ole Blue to the rescue and she's very cable now with the new upgrades. Beautiful truck!
Those tall narrow tires on Ole Blue look frickin AWESOME!!!!!
I had the same issue with my sockets and rachet set… I sprayed everything with light oil, put expendable foam over one side and closed the lid. The foam cured and filled the gaps around the sockets. Trimmed the excess foam that seeped out, and voilà! No more loose sockets and no more rattling on the trail.
Looks like all the suspension upgrades are working great. ORD and Alcan springs are surely the way to go.
Definitely!
Love watching your amazing driving Rory! That line in with Ol Blue was magic, so smooth.
Crapped myself watching Rory drive down to the jeep so nearly fainted with the back-up drive.
Nomination for the prettiest off road wrecker!
Dam that truck looks fine. But she's built to work and work she does.😊😊😊😊😊
Old Blue looks great in green!
Luck of the Irish ❤
I don’t remember seeing Hector paint them sweet half doors Mike made.
Love how the largest part of the recovery is getting to the recovery. Great scenery!!
Again, making the difficult look easy 🤘😁🤘
You make that recovery look way easier than it is!
Gotta laugh. Most people can't back a little car into a parking space at the mall. You're backing a 108" wide truck between rocks 109" apart and then on cliffs with a sheer drop. Very cool.
That shade of blue looks amazing in the sunlight
Rory in my opinion you seem to do better backing up a trail in old Blue then driving because you made that look easy and effort less. I think old Blue could easily handle Pritchard trail
Great recoveries! I can't get over how Bad A$$ Ole Blue looks not to mention how well it does on the trail! Thank you so much for sharing
Dam he was close to turning over
Old Blue is flexing great.
Study your geometry in school kids. Rory is a master at it.
This just proves that leaf springs and a manual are the way to go.
Nice to have those big old side mirrors.
Clean rescue.
For the longest time I used the OEM tool chest as my go-to. I got rid of the foam pad and used thick cardboard "cut to match" as the holder which stopped reorganizing the sockets.
Thank you Rory, for another Master Class in rock-crawling. Your videos are always inspiring.
I think I do pretty well with mirrors, but that was impressive.
As good as anybody can do forward
Does he know how to rescue vehicles when they slid off of the side of a mountain? Does Jesus understand the intricacies of rigging?
Old blue looking good, but I sure do miss the Trail Mater content. I just love that old truck!
Ol' Blue looks good in green. 😎👍
Fitting for his name
Rory is a better wheeler in reverse than most are going forward. He never fails to impress me on his driving abilities.
Blue is super cool!
Ole Blue seems to be more of "Mean Green" these days. Great working truck no matter the name or the color. Nice to see it work and do the job for you and your customers.
He was smart to stop and call for help instead of maybe tipping it oner and down the hill! The second one just pull the drive shaft and tow it back. Lod Blue getting used!
I have those same tool sets and just cut out a piece of cardboard to replace foam and everything stays in place. Awesome videos! Just got my Trailmater hoodie the other day. You guys rock!
Hot damn is Blue ever quiet! I don't recall it sounding so smooth. Goes with the paint job I suppose!
So nice to see old blue performing like champ and look like movie star congrats
Thanks for sharing Happy holidays 😀👍🎄
Looks like the suspension is working pretty nice. Good shots driving off into the sunset.
First to comment 🙂 although 4th view... Rory drives backwards better than most people do forwards 🙂 So.. if you didn't drive down all those bumpy rocky roads the tool kit would not need the double foam buffer to keep everything in its place 😂🤣😂 Thanks for sharing 🙂
BFD!!🙄
Ol blue looking real good
That's not rust, that's factory installed time released weight reduction.
Happy New Year Team Mater. Thanks for another great year's worth of videos.
Dang Blue looks good. 😊
When I first "met" Rory it was watching the Off Road Wrecker Games. When he ran Trail Mater backwards up The Chute, I originally thought - wow, what a show off. As I've been following the channel ever since, I've quickly come to realize those type of driving skills came from experience and necessity while performing amazing off road recoveries. Elephant Hill looked crazy on video, so you know running it backwards in real life must have been insane! The skills, knowledge, experience, honesty, genuineness, and humor on this channel is beyond refreshing. Love watching what you guys do! Keep up the great work!
What a good-looking rig old blue is....
Classic paint job, great old school look.
gotta love those classic mirrors. 😎
I just want to extend a special level of appreciating for Rory and Mike to bring a heavy as tank big wide hips bertha to one of the most difficult trails in entire USA and then do it backwards.
Cool campsite, but I’ll bet dude shat his shorts when that tire dropped off the edge
Awesome Job Fellas!!! Ol Blue is putting in the work!!! Awesome!!!
At least it’s not Pritchard yet, love it.
Ol’ Blue’s exhaust is very fitting!
Ol Blue looks great out on the trails but I think it's only a matter of time until those mirrors get bashed and smashed.
.... It's the frame. That has to be the quote of the year . Looking forward to the calls Rory, Lilly, Shawn and Mike will take us on in 2024 !
I have been watching your videos for quite a while now and enjoyed every one of them. When you cut the back of ole blue and cut the bed on your dodge, I was having mini heart attacks!!! 😅😅the one thing that I have learned from those videos is, if it's yours and it don't work, just fix it so that it will. Nobody is going to be happy about 100% of what you do, but ya know what? It's mine, I can fix it however I see fit and if someone don't like it then they can try and buy it from me and fix it however they want.
Ole Mean Green 💚
It's great watching Ol' Blue in action. I can understand the value of a closed cab in the winter. Especially when blasting down the highway. Stay safe and have a great New Year.
Ole blue turns green when it means business.😊
Love how professional you guys operate!!!
Old blue❤
Ole Blue is not green with envy for underneath that beautiful shade of green paint is the heart of Old Blue. By the way Rory, my favorite color is green.
Always amazed how easy you make things look!
That's a great looking truck,
WOW!!!! What an amazing sunset as you guys were driving out. Keep it up you guys 😊
Just watching this and seeing what you've done to Ol Blue.... what a magnificent and capable truck.
How old is Ol’ Blue ? I very much doubt that when it was sold from brand new that anyone would have thought that in 2024 it would be such a world famous, prized, capable, working off road tow truck !
1978
I love that old truck
Nice recovery... more impressive was the backing job!! NICE, Rory!!!
I don’t know how you wear pants with as big a set of jewels as you must have. Well done my friend!! God Bless
I love the green paint on ole blue, Rory it’s a really beautiful truck now! I love Trail Mater because it’s just a B/A, and it’s been to hell and back a few times! It’s proven itself many times! Now ole Blue is doing great and I like it more and more every time yall go on a rescue! Plus you handle Trail Mater better than anyone else Rory, it’ll always be THE BOSS! Good rescue guys and thanks for sharing! Kirk from Louisiana always sending prayers and positive vibes to you and your families! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Sure like the stance of Ole Blue now.
