Having the 'paper' schedule really isn't that long ago. My wife hates everything being on the app..and really many want to get AWAY from the internet on these trips
Took the inaugural cruise a few weeks ago. Definitely wasn't ready for passengers. I was reassigned a different suite, much smaller but a larger balcony (barely used it). WiFi was trash. Sail cards weren't functioning properly. Staff was amazing! Entertainment was fun with line dancing lessons and activities throughout the day

The "supposed to look like Margarita" in the pool is ridiculous. But that was probably copper. We had an inground pool at our house in Arkansas, and we had a really hot summer where the water was evaporating fast. We ended up with a high concentration of copper in our pool water, which turned the pool water green. There was a special chemical we had to put in the water that dropped the copper to the bottom of the pool, where we could vacuum it up. I'm guessing pool staff did that overnight.

My wife and I were taking about this while watching the video, and I think we know where the issues lie, the Operations Department! It’s one thing to be a “new” cruiseline that now only has two ships, but that’s where the importance of having experienced and knowledgeable people come in to play.
For starters, hire a tech team to deal with creating the app and installing the Wi-Fi onboard. Then hire an awesome chef to create the buffet items and all menus. I could go on and on but I think you get the drift.
I have only been in the restaurant industry for 32 years but what do I know.
We sailed the Margaritaville at Sea in 2022 for their inaugural one day sailing and met some content creators onboard who agreed with our opinions of the ship at the time and we had referred to it as the “Winn Dixie of the Seas” due to the transformation.
I do think the Islander is a beautiful ship and does represent what the brand is trying to do, I only wish they could get a ship from scratch to fully implement everything they want to do.

I don’t know about the pool, but the green was the first thing I noticed. I bet they got a lot of questions and complaints. I was shocked about the ship though. It looks awesome! I wasn’t expecting that. 😂😂

I was thinking the inside of the pool was painted green instead of blue to assure that people walking in the very shallow blue pool area would see when they are close to the deep section - and not accidentally step into it thinking it’s shallow. Having two different colors for that safety reason makes sense.
Thank you for the SUITE review - If we were to book this cruise, we would ONLY do a suite, so I truly appreciate you guys reviewing this. I think that there is a suite that is one level higher and includes an in room bar - I’m sure that one comes at a hefty price😊.

I really appreciate your review, thanks so much! We are booked for 11/9. Celebrating hubby's 60th BD. We booked a balcony. I only placed $100 deposit as I saw all the reviews for the Paradise. This ship looks so much better. The things you mentioned that were bad, I don't think will bother us too much. Besides the may quite possibly work out many of those by November. We are looking forward to it!

I was on the June 18 cruise and I think your review was spot on. The one thing I would add, since you didn’t actually taste the buffet food, is that it most of the food was cold. And the Fins complementary dining room was just okay. For breakfast, the Fins only had a buffet that was also cold. And it wasn’t open for lunch even on sea days. So if you don’t upgrade to the Islander restaurant, the food is an issue.
Good Job guys. Everything is totally fixable and I am sure will be. BTW Royal has some older ships still in the fleet. We have done Margaritaville from Palm Beach and also the buffet was not great. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for another informative video. I have looked at Margaritaville and your video helped a lot. I was on the Princess 32 day cruise in April 2024 and they did not have a lifeguard at any of the 4 pools, not a single time. There were only a couple of kiddos on the ship but the seniors might have a medical issue and need help. Thanks again for all you do to keep us informed.
Have to agree as on my last 3 cruises on Celebrity, I saw zero lifeguards. If they were there, they weren’t very obvious to me or my friends.
Hey JJ. Great review. Thanks so much. I expected a reasonable experience as this is a Costa ship to refurbish to give a Margaritaville flow. You are not the 1st I’ve heard say the burgers better than Carnivals Guys. Balcony and hard mattresses seems to be common. As well as accessibility and not enough poolside loungers. You’re the 1st to mention no lifeguards. Same of the buffet and the bartenders seemed new. I was wondering about the green pool. Omg. Days later clear ? That’s disturbing. This seems like a could try. Again thanks so much 🤗

And that kind of is an issue or the issue?Lolol there is a small chunk of people that go cruising that want to remove Tech from cruising. They want it the way you described and you negative is the main reason why someone would go on the ship. The pool reminds me of what use to be at Animal Kingdom Lodge. They had it look green to look like a natural water feature in the Serengeti, but people were so turned off by this they drained and repainted it to be a more normal pool. Although if the water truly is gross, well, that’s something else entirely lol
Oo, surprise, a new intro! I think I like it. :) I hope the embarkation in particular is improved. For those who paid extra to have priority boarding would be pretty mad if your experience is the norm. I appreciate your points are fair and that you give them the benefit of the doubt as this was the maiden voyage and they'll be working the kinks out. I'd definitely try this ship out; not my first choice but there are enough "pros" to outweigh the "cons".

I asked about the color of the pool. I was told by the CEO that they chose green for the color of paint on the bottom to make it look like a margarita. Several of us told him we thought that was a mistake because it made the water look dirty.

Hello Jared and Jordan, hope all is well. Loved the review and seems like there is much updating and improvement still needed. I think that the cruise line should ask guest who have sailed on the paradise and the islander what there suggestions would be to move forward on improvements. As always great review , I'm not ready for this ship and green pool water just yet,
They have definitely done this with Paradise and improved greatly with Islander. We are excited for the future as we believe they are trying to be competitive in the mainstream market!

I tried to contact customer service numerous times to get information about the Islander cruise... nobody even knew who Jimmy Buffett was.. I was very disappointed that they couldn't give me any information about what goes on on the cruise ship... like Ping Pong and karaoke two things that I love to do being a musician myself, customer service on the phone is very very lacking and disappointing I learned more in the last 30 minutes listening to you guys and I have after numerous phone calls to Margaritaville customer service thank you so much for that do you happen to remember if they had ping pong and of course I'm sure they had karaoke.... I am looking forward to booking a cruise now with Islander of the sea totally based on your review add Mr Dilly will continue to follow you guys in the future... thank you so much again for that Awesome review !! 👍 🎸 🙏😎❤️

I'm pretty excited to go on this ship, I know they're not super high end but they partnered with a 3rd party company to offer insane deals to first responders which is allowing me to take my mom on a 5 night cruise for around $500 total. Sure we "just" have an interior cabin but still.

We just got off the June 18th-23rd sailing and loved it as well. The JWB Steakhouse was excellent, and we ate there twice!
I was told many of the room stewards came from Viking, a higher end cruise line so that may be why they were so great.
Only issue we had was being charged for things that fell within the offer they gave us such as Spa credits and a Steakhouse credit.
They also double dipped on gratuity as we bought the drink package but still got hit with the 18% service charge per drink.
Looking forward to sail again!

We had a green pool on Symphony of the Seas for a couple of days. Pools are difficult to maintain. Margaretaville ownership is sound, and the company will continue to grow.

A Disney resort had a pool that color once, was supposed to look like a natural pool. Same situation … guests were grossed out and complained and Disney re-tiled the pool to be blue instead of green.
I do live in Tampa but haven’t cruised out of here because of the level of ships. I’m only on cruise #25 You might have changed my mind! Better than Guys burgers is a BIG statement. YUM!

I loved your review but was really puzzled by why you'd choose to book a suite on a new cruise ship that also included exclusive dining and cabin attendants. While it was fun to see, I think the vast majority of your viewers won't be booking suites and would have liked to hear and see your experience in a regular Oceanview or balcony cabin, with the normal steward and MDR experience. That just seems way more realistic. It would have been lovely if you wanted to cover a suite experience on the ship in the future, but a regular overall cruiser experience would have been much more informative. 😊
Besides the in room experience (which we hear was very similar with just less space) we did experience the same things as everyone else. We ate in the same buffet, MDR (and upstairs), went to same shows, same activities, same casino, same pools, same bars and restaurants… this was not a suite experience like that of MSC or NCL where you are in a ship within a ship. This was more of you have a bigger cabin with access to the upstairs of the MDR and have a few additional perks when it comes to Embarkation and Disembarkation.
We also had the same one stateroom attendant that everyone else had, no butler if that was misunderstood. ☺️
If anything, we were able to understand more than usual about the options onboard and if a Suite is really worth it. 😉
@@JJCruise Fair enough. ☺️ I will say, I don't think a steward whose assigned to a regular room is necessarily going to be at the same service level as someone who's assigned to suites. I think from a cruise lines perspective, they are going to assign the cream of the crop, have less rooms to manage and expect customers to be given top shelf service, very attentive service. That's only natural. I mean the customer's paying a significantly higher price. That's not a slight towards any other hard working cabin stewards taking care of non-suite class rooms, but they're only human and if you have to juggle a lot more rooms and guests, there's no way you can provide the same level of service. It does look like a great value for the cost (standard cabin), except the very underwhelming buffet. But hey, something has to give for that price! ✌️😂
Seems like most of the vloggers had suites when most don't normally, so maybe it was a perk Margaritaville gave to vloggers?

I want to go next year when they open Belize and the Cayman Islands. I have head horror stories about this line; but that was from the older smaller east coast ship. This “new” ship is supposed to be much better and I’m hoping for a good experience then. Would love to hear how your trip goes.

I think it was a maiden voyage. They were all on their game. Who knows if they’ll stay like that and as a budget cruise.😮😮😮😮
In our experience, Maidens are typically more rocky because crew don’t know the ropes yet including where things are or new menus.
We believe they will only improve from here ☺️
It would be super interesting to know if you think this is a good ship for solo cruisers! I love the look of the ship and itineraries but would be solo and wouldn't want to feel like i shouldn't be there. Do you think it's suitable? 😊
How did you feel about the almost non-existent gym? Do you think that will be expanded, particularly when they start the 6 and 7 day sailings?
We didn’t mind it as most smaller, older ships have smaller gyms as well. It could be improved in the future, but for their brand it shouldn’t be their focal point. ☺️

For a Budget Cruise Line, it was average to good. Everything was edible so no concerns on if it was bad, some things were just okay and other things tasted great! ☺️

My first notice was the green water in the pool, AND you swimming in it. How was debarkation?? Was it organized?
We had an easy debarkation, but heard others had a long wait. This will get better with more practice as it was their first sailing, but definitely a perk to have priority debarkation if you can get it. ☺️
I like the idea of not having loungers around the pool. Keeps that area cleaner. Let face it, those chairs are just towel holders when around the pool anyways.
I noticed the pool seemed green on cloudy days only.
The GOOD for us would be a smoke-free casino. The BAD for us -- it's an old ship and how stable is the ship in rough seas? Newer ships have stabilizers that drastically reduce the ship from rocking back and forth. Sounds like this would be a deal breaker for us. Still want to try Virgin Voyages, but not so keen on Margaritaville at this time. Of course, if we really wanted to splurge, we'd go on a Celebrity Edge-class ship!
I was thinking that as well....why green? ummmm margarita???? it was nasty water...... I looked into the price on sailings and this is not cheaper than the mainline cruise lines. I love the look of the ship, and it offers way more than the Carnival Paradise.....I would try it if I was a first time cruiser but the perks and status level I'm at holds me prisoner to Carnival LOL GREAT< HONEST

Expectations are everything! We believe this is a great starter cruise ship for friends as there is a smaller investment for friends with any budget. That said, it is a budget cruise line so don’t expect a premium experience 😉

I told my husband that I think it would be fun to do the Paradise, take a train to Tampa, and then go on the Islander. :) Do they have a deal for going on both ships?

I would think Margaritaville at Sea Islander would not renovate a whole ship and not clean the algae and other impediments from the pool before inaugural sailing.

Going to Cozumel - not bad. The tropical storm on the way back was felt but that is true on most ships. ☺️
