    If oil pressure switch leak can it be the sensor is bad? I got mitsubishi triton 2011 4D56 engine, when start engine the indicator off and lit up after a few sec. When give a rev the indicator is off, let off accelerator pedal the indicator lit back. Can it due to the oil sensor leak? Engine got no knocking noise when idle and oil level at full level

    Hi, My van is doing something strange, wondering if you could help... when I start the vehicle while its cold I can drive it fine, fast or slow. But as soon as it it reaches 90 degrees the oil light starts flashing. Everything sounds okay no noisy oil pump. Thanks

    09 Subaru Forester oil pressure switches were both leaking. When being replaced, head cracked (common issue). I plugged the crack/threaded hole with jb weld. My question is, with the switch still plugged in (but not threaded into the hole), is there a way to trick the switch to send the signal to the computer so it thinks the oil pressure is okay? If that's possible, I can clear the code and just keep an eye on oil levels. It's driving fine with the code (trifecta lights) on. 194k miles, so this is not a pristine vehicle, but it would be nice to have the dash lights off and cruise control working, etc. Any help is appreciated!

      Remove the switch from its connector. Trick the connector/wiring: by either grounding the signal wire (normally open switch) with a jumper wire grounded to engine block, or jumpering the connector terminals with a short piece of wire (2 wire switch). Or keeping the circuit open (normally closed switch) by just unplugging the connector = breaking the path to ground. Tape up the connector to keep dirt out of the end. Make note, if you have an actual oil pressure reading in Computer, a scan tool will show Max pressure/volts when scanned. Or dash oil pressure gauge will show Max.
      Stay gold.

    Is it possible for the oil pressure switch to fail during activated operation?

    I know this thread is old but giving it a shot anyway ok here it goes I have a 04 silverado 1500 4.8 2wd with 260.000 miles I've noticed when I turned the key switch on but not cranking it up my oil pressure gauge goes to max 80 pounds so I turned the key switch off and then started up the engine itself it went straight back to 80 pounds. so I immediately turned it off I checked the oil on the dip stick it showed normal reading could this be a faulty stepper moter or a oil sending unit or a clogged filter for the oil sending unit if equipped with one on this 04 4.8.

      Does the oil pressure go down to 0 when key is off?

    • @johngray7597
      @johngray7597 Před rokem

      @@bstceltics4 no it stays pegged out on 80 until I turn off. It's sending unit and i just wish they'll stop letting them designers mechanics put chit where it hard to get too or nearly have to tear down the whole engine for little dam sensor

    OL is not offline. It's OverLoad. Meaning it's an open circuit.
