- I don't know what the deal is with the guy and the whip.....seems like he has issues? I do know that this Camaro when on to be a gigantic success and sell 45,000 units in it's first year.
What a badass commercial! I was only 5 when this aired but now I want to get a whip and wear a cowboy hat and whip everything that gets in my way, and drive a Camaro of course, that would be cool.

What a beautiful car I always wanted one the closed I got was a 73 Chevy nova that my dad bought me! I still loved it tho but never stop wanting a Camaro!!♡
Our dad had a 1968 Camaro he bought brand new. Our parents took it on their honeymoon in ‘69, and dad kept the thing until his death in 2016, at which point my brother took possession of it, and has been in process of restoring it. I remember all through the 1980’s, periodically, we’d be followed home from the grocery store, and someone would want to offer to buy it. Mom would take down their number and forward it to dad who would respond with a hearty,
*”Hell no.”* 😂

My guess is that since Chevrolet was one of the main sponsors for Bonaza they thought the Cowboy Whip thingie would go over real well with that audience......45 years later....it's a laugh!!!! lol!!!!!
BTW!!! Chevrolet sold more than 45,000 units of the Camaro...more like 225,000 give or take!! ;-)
Just checked the Standard Catalog of American Cars from 1946 -1975 and they say 45,000 and then they go on to say that of that, 64,942 were Rally Coupes. (which makes no sense).....so clearly, it's a misprint in the catalog. That's where I got the 45,000 figure......so you're I'm sure correct on the number

I would guess he wasn't an Actor but a expert Whipster guy......someone who knows how to handle a whip.....and thus hired to do the commercialIt's like when you see people playing sports in a TV Commercial, they usually aren't actors but Sports folks.
@@OsbornTramain That's what I would have guessed, but a buddy of mine claims that it was a well known Canadian actor/singer, which I found hard to believe. And unlikely!
