- He’s one of the most influential characters in British music today. The sound that Wiley created in East London at the turn of this century - which eventually became known as Grime - has now reached global popularity. But whilst his peers achieved huge chart success, he has been known as the driving force behind the scenes.
In his autobiography ‘Eskiboy’ released 31 October, he describes a life of underground creativity, drugs, pirate radio and a feud with fellow grime star Dizzee Rascal.

Always interesting to hear Wiley speak
James Saukila truss
always funny how he's sayin "bro" to the woman :D
@@planc7on bro is another word for mate lad or dude and there is no restrictions to who it is said
Out here looking like Gabriel Jesus 2035.
His fade is on point
i'm not gonna lie, wiley trim is absolutely sick, clock that fade... he needs to promote his barber!!
I just clocked he's a barber did a good job but sadly I can't snake my barber aha
That's what I was thinking in my head
HAHA for a good 5min that what i noticed too LOL
Hahaha, also was saying in my head, he went all out for this interview with this trim

Nah Wiley doesn't get enough credit
GetEmUp OuttaHere TheTwoTime yet you came here to watch him
GetEmUp OuttaHere TheTwoTime so why dafuq you hear ya fuckboi keyboard warrior
GetEmUp OuttaHere TheTwoTime what is wrong with Wiley - if he never did what he did you wouldn't be able to listen to stormzy
For real
DURRTY GOODZ don't iver
I like how he's himself, no put on image, just a London lad.
I respect his honesty. What a legend.
I know and he grown so much to be a better person and he's very intelligent
He is such a breath of fresh air. Intellectually in his narrative about his art, life and the progression of grime. A true player of grime, the 'Godfather' of this explosive creation of expression and lyrics. Wiley is someone I can listen to with massive interest and I love his creative musical art.
For all those asking why he mentions Dizzee, this is an interview. Interviews consist of questions. Wiley was asked a question regarding Dizzee, which he answers as he should. If he were to refuse to answer it he would come across like he still has a problem. He gives him his credits and not act like the man never existed or contributed to grime, that is maturity.
Divine Joy unlike dizzee in his interviews lol
Ryan Marshall cause they stabbed man like 9 times in napa or something like that he doesn’t have to take the high road ever
Wiley talks the realist stuff all the time... its always wise to watch a wiley interview or to even read what he writes lol
westyy is that you yeahhhh
Kieran Westlake Westyy Is That Youuu Yhhhhhh 💯
@@Morleyz beat me to it 😂😂

“Grime the culture & not just grime the music”
Them words there are bang on, Wiley is the Godfather of grime 💯...
Need to cop this Book, love the growth in Wiley
Wiley kept it 💯 in this interview
ShackZone TV he always does
ShackZone TV loads of time for him being humble, he was younger than me shotting at raves, thought he'd got arrogant till I see him when he was performing and spoke as he is now. Like seeing his influence hopefully on the generation under us, spoken real truth
Would just like to say that teenagers in England in the 1990s were making music in their bedrooms on computers and releasing it on their own labels which spawned the jungle and drum n bass scene which is now known worldwide. Andy C one of the biggest names in drum n bass in the world started off as a 15 year old making music in his bedroom on a computer in the early 90s and he started his own label called Ram by himself in the 90s. Labels like Moving Shadow, Suburban Base, Production House, Brain Records, Strictly Underground were all started by teenagers in the 90s before Grime. Major labels were shunned back then. The grime lot wasn't the first to do this
Yep . why don't you just say 'hardcore' ? Led to drum n bass ? What . you trying to be generic as poss to keep the confusion at bay ? My mate from Bedford had friends who were huge in the hardcore scene - criminal mindz i think .
@@robertlund5694 his new artist is on my channel NOW
wiley is like the dr dre of grime
Lee ONeill more like tupac
I Hear That Bro... 100%
Lee ONeill dre's a multimillionaire he's got a great business head, Wiley is a legend in the grime scene but I don't think he's a great business man
So that means Wiley has ghost producers and other artists write for him?
Wiley Is Like The Dr Dre Of Grime Because Of Certain Similarity’s... They Have Both Been In Their Genre For A Long Time And Still Managed To Go With The Times...
Anyone watching in late 2018?
Wiley is like 50 Cent in the way he half answers the question and half talks shit which makes sense but never relates to the point.
Jynxstarr 💯💯💯💯
Maybe it's just you 50 cent interviews to me are gold I fully get what his saying
50cent is very articulate and smart
Wiley and 50 cent in the same sentence just stop..50 articulates perfectly
Tyson Banks exactly lol, 50 is very intelligent and articulate. Not trying to shit on wiley but they are not the same at all
I like to hear him talk it's a certain level of authenticity and genuineness when he speaks.
"It was a race to get to the Ras money..."/ "JME has got a mortgage..." LOL
American speaking here, but damn, from where I sit, this man is a national treasure. I wish American rappers had a fraction of this man's charisma; intelligent, funny, honest, self deprecating, confident, and equal parts respectful and provocateur.
Big respect to man called Wiley.
Always inspired by how selfless hes lived for a long time, many levels of respect for the dude. Thanks for everything over the years.
Kudos to Wiley for his perseverance and determination - I remember growing up listening to Pay As You Go Crew (Wiley, Major Ace etc) and going to Garage Fever over 15 years ago so well done to them. Just bought Wiley's autobiography.
He was looking for an answer, searching.. And the don says ‘The reason it’s here is because of Pirate Radio.. It stands for pirate radio, basically my.
As a DJ who played on various pirates from 99-2010, I know how real that statement is. New listeners and artists wouldn’t even deep the significance of that. The fact is, back then, pirate radio was everything! Is was our main outlet to broadcast what we were doing cheaply but effectively. A station would get shut down today and be back on for the 10-12pm set and it had to be the main platform to spread the sound of Grime 100%. Especially in London to begin with. The scene blew up through videos and CZcams but when we were in a tiny rented back room bringing maximum energy and vibes that had never been witnessed like that before before.. There was was hardly fast internet let alone CZcams live streaming so we definitely created something grass root organically.
Wiley a true legend
You hit the nail on the head my G , sometimes we do stuff and don't want to take responsibility for it. You show your growth with your words. My Donnie
Big up wiley honest talk too
Wiley is the fucking guy. Literally the fucking guy. He keeps pushing up how much I love him. He is like the maker of grime who stands almost outside of it. He made the crew he is the head of the crew he does not have to answer to the crew.
A larger than life personality. Uber talented young man with fire in his belly. Definition of an extrovert
4:18 she said "our scene" 😂
Screwface maybe she bops her head to grime bro
Yeh, I thort that....liccle dwarf
She must be a culture vulture. Or maybe she used to reach the dances back in the day.

Jerry Rawlings was she there when most of the madness was happening as well?
Good Interview to watch Wiley kept 100% positive

why she got michael jacksons jacket on???
No.1player I'd have said more my chemical romance but still close enough
She's a MJ fan she also is a very good friend of Mariah Carey
MJ got that style off what the Beatles wore on the Sgt Pepper album, and the Beatles got that style off Alister Crowley (well known satanist)
It’s what free masons wear go check n u will c
@@sahulianhooligan7046 this has nothing to do w The Beattles or MJ this is just some inspired by jackets aristocrats used to wear around the 18th century, yall never went to school or what ? How many paintings, statues w famous nobles, generals, wearing these kind of jackets...
I understood every single thing he said. Intelligent human being right there
Ok. cool story bro.

Really fantastic interveiwer
wiley interviews are legendary
Another great interview from Wiley.
KING WILEY
This was a good interview
Wiley knows his music that's what I love about him hes very clued up with other genres that's what makes him a bad man! He just dont listen or surround himself with his own culture he researches and even sees that other styles have that connection with him!!
2:50 Ha ha imagine Wiley covering 'Banned from the Roxy' by Crass.
If its about angry kids then what happens when the kids grow up?
they still angry just a little fatter and balder
great interview bro
The world loves you 💐🌸💝♥️💓🌷🌺
MOsKOn We’ll see who cancels who with Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein and Dershowitz you’re being represented very well. Get lost.
Wonderful interview Wiley
Fascinating person. Such a fascinating person that he doesn't even comprehend the political and social change that he has been a catalyst of. It is almost like an enormous mistake, that happened on purpose because of his passion and love for Grime music. I found this frustrating to watch because there are some discussion points that the brings up in this interview that are so incredibly important to speak about, yet they weren't spoken about with clarity or articulated effectively. Regardless of everything, I respect him as a social and musical legend and I feel privileged to have been alive to witness his journey.
Great interview. Very real 💯
i can listen to wiley all day long
Great interview 🐐
Love Wiley man! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾✨🙏🏾
Love Wiley's philosophy on the game!! Bigup!
Great interview Wiley!
I rate Wiley for this if dizzy keeps up the beef from when they was teenagers he a fool for living in the past he needs to grow up he is no longer the boy in the corner
jermaine tobin there's 5 year difference between there ages I took the time to look it up just now next time you should research before commenting but Richard Cowie Jnr (born 19 January 1979), better known by his stage name Wiley and Dylan Kwabena Mills (born 18 September 1984) , better known by his stage name ... Around the age of 14, Dizzee Rascal
(Facts only)
+Ye I said that wiley was not a teenager when they was beefing and that's what you said so don't try be funny and wiley was technically a teenager when they met but he was an adult dizzee wasn't duh smh
my erotique correct your self were am I trying to be funny which part ???? Is it an argument your looking for or a debate either way I'm down to be honest is wasn't trying to be funny because I told someone to be correct when trying to correct someone is not being funny
Being funny is like me saying you say Wiley was a teenager and dizzee was not but Wiley is older then dizzee so you need to get your fact right before making your self look like a fool I bet your the type of guy to tic all the questions on a test then complain to the tutor about the results now that's me being funny you cunt lool 😂😂🤣🤣 why don't you try not be funny
my erotique they started beefing in 2002 when dizzy got stabbed because of Wiley's hot temper back then Wiley would of been 23 and dizzy would of been 18 Wiley considered as a adult and dizzee still a teen you ain't officially an adult in the U.K. Till you are the age of 21
@@kodakwhite9392 shut up you troll.
