    Verowak, don't underestimate Stallone as a great, serious actor beyond his action-heavy roles. Sure, it's always hard to imagine different actors in a movie you know (with great performances of the actors that actually played). But I'm quite sure, Stallone could have done a great performance. Recommendation: "Copland" is a great movie with an outstanding performance by Stallone in a very different type of roll than what he's known for.

      @@VerowakReacts You definitely have to see Training Day. Denzel plays an entirely different character than what you've seen him play before. I'm not sure anyone else could have done the role because it requires you to loathe his character but not so much that you lose interest in watching the movie. Denzel's charisma and screen presence are absolutely crucial for the film to work.
      Also, I'm going to second Zodiac as another Fincher film that you have to see as soon as possible. It's so good, particularly if you like true crime. The cast is fantastic and everyone is at the top of their game. It's probably my favorite Fincher film.

    Stallone would've been too old to play Mills in '95, but he played an intense cop in the Mills mold in "Nighthawks (1981)," a great overlooked thriller (came out the same weekend as several other movies, including "Excalibur" and "The Howling" and got lost in the shuffle). Yeah, several late '80s and '90s film directors began in music videos, which is one reason why music videos became less creative and more about pimping movies through soundtracks and merely showing hair bands playing their instruments during concerts, starting around late '86 as I recall (Yeah, I'm old.)

    This one is on par with Silence of the Lambs, in the sense that the killer is always in control, you just see significantly less of him in this. Like when he’s “fleeing” after shooting at them in the apartment building. He’s not running away. Every opportunity he has to take up a position and shoot as he’s being chased, he takes. Not something one does if they’re running in total fear.

    • @sparrowprince3432
      @sparrowprince3432 Před 5 měsíci

      He was running away, but ONLY to complete his mission. Not out of self preservation or fear....but strictly so that his work on earth was fully completed. He would allow nothing to foil his plans, even the unexpected.

    Stallone turning down this role was the main reason he chose to do Copland which was released 2 years later. and Denzel did the movie Fallen in 1998 which was like a supernatural version of Se7en. So you can really see how turning Se7en down made them rethink their choices for accepting roles.

  • @johnnyrivas2619

    It's such a daring film, unafraid to be dark and just perfect for David Fincher to direct. To me it's actually more depressing on rewatch, from Mills continuously mentioning how he isn't spending time with his wife to the car conversation at the end. Jon Doe spared Mills just so he could utterly destroy him later, it's so cold.
    BTW if you want to see Sylvester Stallone act well, check out Rocky and/or Copland.
