Good to see your car.. I have a 1965 V4 17M (1700cc) Taunus Super ( 2 door ) My dad bought it new in 1965 and I just inherited it from him after his passing. The car has 68000km on the clock and stands on blocks in the garage, it still has the original Michelin tyres on. I would have to replace the tyres before I can drive the car.
Dad bought an early 60's 17M that had been abandoned. After enough time passed and no one claimed it he applied for a title. He couldn't get parts for it in the US (1966) and was unable to get it running reliably so he eventually hauled it to the scrap yard. As a kid I played in it often and imagined it would be mine someday but that never happened. Just seeing video of the car, especially the dash and interior brings back some good memories.
The Lincoln designer Dahlberg was Directly influenced by this Little Car.. when he Designed the F R O N T end of the 1961 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL- don’t believe me? Look at the similarities of the TAUNUs 17m and the elegant LINCOLN- Small world Eh?
