The fresh corn has moisture or water in it so you end up with less corn by volume than the dent corn. If you soaked your dent corn before weighing it I bet it would be the same. Sweet corn just has more of the sugars present without conversion. Great to see people still going back to where it all started, with corn

I checked, and Tractor Supply does not carry organic corn.
Plus I have not found any sources available here in Central California.
Thus I order it from Michigan, which includes a hefty shipping cost in the price.

Surprising result to me given the amount of water weight in sweet corn. High starch to sugar (dent) vs less starch to sugar ratios would become irrelevant after conversion.

Ive used bloody butcher my last couple runs. Its definitely more flavorful. We will see how it is in a few months after it’s finished on charred oak cubes. It seem to becoming popular at the local brewers supply. They have blue hopi too. I will try it soon.

If you used 1lb of dry and 1lb of fresh, and we consider the water weight in the fresh corn. It seems to me that there would be a lot more corn in the dry pound. That would give a higher gravity reading. You should try it again and account for water weight.

  • @theghostofsw6276

You can't compare dry corn to fresh corn......fresh corn is over 80% water, you'll never get a fair and accurate comparison.

Randy when you blended the sweet corn I am thinking you should not have added any water to it? Smashed it all up put it in the pot then add the same amount of water the reading might of been higher??

Dude, you need to glue some soft materials to your ceiling to deaden the noise and and get your sound under control. Guarantee this will improve your viewership. Just glue some old comforters to that metal roofing, it will greatly improve the echo and harshness. I honestly love your videos, but I have to start drinking three hours before I watch one, so I don't get PTSD from listening to it.
