People outside of the family circle's acquaintances was just Mrs's and Sir's for us... But given we were not meeting many adults in the wild that we'd need to interact with apart from teachers, yes, we've called many many older adults we did and didn't know 'Tonton X / Tata X' as a sign of respect too 😅 !
But now that I think of it, I've had one Tata Jamila that wasn't black (may she rest in peace), but that's it! The math only applied to the African adults otherwise!

Fam!!!!! My mum had some friends when I was a kid......When I tell you I STILL call them "Auntie" and "Uncle" and their kids are all my "cousins" TO THIS DAY!!!!! I tried calling them by first name when we visited them one time (I was an adult by this point), and they weren't having it!! I'm 39 years old and that's still a thing.
