      I have watched that several times (Great video ) but I don’t think I will be packing up a lot of stuff when I go out camping.
      Being a visual leaner, I think watching both videos will allow me to make a well informed choice.

    I've always liked this bag seems like a good design! I don't think I could justify the price however. What would be the benefit of this over a normal large waterproof duffle? The way you have it packed it looks like you have maybe 5 or 10 pounds of the weight low under the seat height.

    • @martyn_g
      @martyn_g Před rokem +1

      Duffle puts all the weight high. I’d pack differently myself, I’d use the legs to put tube repair setup, mattress, spares etc., and strap water bottles to the outer parts of the legs, then put light stuff in the top part. Using a bivy, tarp plus leaner sleeping bag saves a heap of room too. No poles required. The bike handles way better then stuffing it all in a duffle. Mass centralisation.

  • @alexmacdonald258
    @alexmacdonald258 Před 2 lety

    so, you've ridden the Himalayan, but I don't recall if it had pannier racks. Would you use a great Basin even though the bike had pannier racks installed? I really like the configuration of these bags, but will switch between hard boxes for pavement touring, and soft luggage for offroad adventures like the BDR's. We saw a pair of Moto Trek soft panniers at the Touratech, and if the horseshoe bags wouldn't work with pannier racks, that would be my next choice.

  • @Raven.flight
    @Raven.flight Před 2 měsíci

    So, if the bags are 'mostly empty' (i.e. only the legs have stuff in them) would you be able to easily fit a bag across the back like you can with standard panniers?

    • @GiantLoopMoto
      @GiantLoopMoto  Před měsícem

      Absolutely! with or without the dry pod. Just keep in mind that the saddlebag is not watertight, but only showerproof without the dry pods.

    I consider this a bad design because everything is in one big space. In this setup you have to take eeverything put to setup the ten, lay it all on the ground. You need to just stop and make a coffee mid-day? Take everything out 🤣 stuff also gets dirty, tents get wet, it is not a practical way of packing for real* adventures. My 2 cents
