    the rivalry between United and Arsenal between 1998-2004 had the following: United won 4 titles, Arsenal 3, United became the first team to do the Treble in English football, Arsenal became the Invincibles, the rivalry between the two captains that were the best midfielders in the league (by some distance) in Keane and Vieira, two of the best goalscorers the league has ever known in RvN and Henry, Pizzagate, the Battle at Old Trafford, the Highbury tunnel incident which became a classic match with United winning 4-2, The FA cup semi final with the Ryan Giggs goal, Arsenal winning the league against United at Old Trafford.
    Come on guys, you can't manufacture City vs Liverpool to be anywhere near as real as that, especially when their 'rivalry' has been so one sided.

      Liverpool won 1 league in them 6 years. City won 5. Liverpool have 2 league cups and 1 fa cup while city have 1 league cup and 2/3 fa cup. Liverpool in them 6 years went to 3 champions league finals winning 1. And city went to 1 final winning 1 and winning the treble. In them 6 years. 2 of the seasons. Liverpool lost the league by 1 point. And both Liverpool and city were getting 90+ points. It is VERY comparable.

      @@AKBOXING-13-1 but it's still 5-1 to City though. 4-3 between United and Arsenal suggests a much better and closer rivalry, especially when one team was the first to do the Treble (and without cheating/115 charges) and the other was the Invincibles. City and Liverpool have been great sides but it's no contest in terms of rivalry that United and Arsenal were better.

Chelsea won by pure fortune, Real won but it was in their destiny, then City scraped it past a lack luster Inter. Compared to let's say 2015, Barca had MSN, Real had BBC, Bayern had Pep and were probably the most dominant team and would've won the UCL wouldn't it have been for MSN magic, Juve had that amazing team with Pirlo, prime Pogba, Vidal etc, Atletico were gritty. Just seemed football was more advanced but also fun back then

    • @twiggy99
      @twiggy99 Před 2 měsíci +2

      Wouldn't say the quality has dropped but the game has changed. "Teams" back in 90s would have 1 or 3 stand out world class player/s who would obviously standout and would dictate entire games because the "team" would constantly rely on them.
      Now it's completely a team game, everyone has to play the part and no longer for a team to be successful can they simply rely on one player running every game every week.
      As most ex pros say over and over there's no way they could play in the modern game today with the levels of fitness and tactical knowledge that today's coaches have implemented in the game. It's far a higher standard now than in the 90s

    Neville is right. Between 1997-2004, Man United vs Arsenal was the biggest rivalry. That's why kids that remember watching the start of that rivalry, mainly kids born in late 80s to early 90s hated Arsenal more than Liverpool and City. Me, being an early 90s kid does hate Liverpool the most but I have Arsenal as second. I don't hate city as much because they're irrelevant. Their achievements are tainted if found guilty and also, Liverpool and Arsenal got to the top and won trophies without relying on a takeover. City would be in the third or fourth division, if they never had a takeover and I mean that. Chelsea would be in the second division for sure, if they never had their takeover. So Arsenal and Liverpool are Manchester Uniteds biggest rivals and Manchester United vs Arsenal is the biggest rivalry in Premier League history over the 7 years. Pep vs Klopp city vs Liverpool rivalry is from 2016-2024 but the first city title came in 2018, so 2017-2024 7 years, just like Man United vs Arsenal, city and Liverpool may have played better football and earned more points, but Arsenal vs Manchester United had more quality, with winning 7/7 titles within their rivalry. Whereas if city win this season, it'll also be 7/7 but 6 from city. That's too one sided to be a rivalry. Even 5/2 is not better than 4/3

    Gary is 100% correct.
    The United v Arsenal rivalry had it all. The physicality, managers hating one another, great football and they shared success.
    City have absolutely dominated Liverpool. Klopp and Pep are bum buddies. This is barely a rivalry.
    But it's a nice try by Liverpool fans to sit on the coat tails of Man City to be relevant in the Premier League era.

    Not saying that neville is wrong with the man utd and arsenal rivalry being better but to say that city have demolished liverpool is unreal, liverpool have been the only team on the planet who have consistently gone head to head with a team with super wealth, (also 115 charge) the best structure and an unlimited chequebook for signing players, klopp never had any of it, he signed VVD and Alisson with money which was acquired through selling coutinho, our best player and a risky deal. Pep can have any player he wants, no team can afford to just wave off a player like cancelo. Also klopp going against pep has won more than he has lost, so no it wasn’t a demolition neville

      One title in 34 years begs to differ. They finished outside the top four last season and United have finished second in that time as well. The dippers have been demolished. Six years Liverpool have been decent. City have been dominant for a decade.
