Joan Crawford was the whole reason This film got made. Though she and Bette truly disliked each other in real life, Joan and Bette Davis were both in a slump from a their glory days until Joan found this story, flew to New Yorks Broadway to see Bette in a play and presented it to her and then pushed to have it made with her and Bette Davis - despite big time producers not wanting them to star in it. In the end Bette got a nomination for an Oscar but Joan, who almost was nominated but slightly nudged out by a couple other actresses by a few votes didn't and was pissed. She deserved at least a nomination. But contacted the other actresses who might not attend on Oscar night and offered to accept on their behalf it they won. She also did interviews and didn't promote Bette's performance but the others. And on Academy Award night accepted Best Actress for Ann Bancroft (who did do an outstanding job in "The Miracle Worker") but couldn't attend, and took the stage and podium to accept on Ann's behalf, but it really seemed like she had got the glory in that moment and triumphantly walked off the stage, past Bette Davis with glee waiting in the wings back stage very disappointed. Bette never forgave her for that and commented upon hearing off Joan's death in 1977 - "....you should never say anything bad about the dead only good . Joan Crawford is dead - Good". Daaaaaaaang ! 😳😳

She was so very wicked and cruel when they both began the sequel "hush hush sweet Charlotte", that Joan Crawford was forced to leave the movie. 😢
Joan was just incredibly, shockingly gorgeous in her day. And her childhood is what horror movies are made of. How she made it to the top is truly astounding.
Betty probably one of the most watchable actors ever!,I would recomend seeing Al bowly 's the very thout of u ,2 the film clip of Human Bondage with B davies the male leed was brilliant 2😊

Her performance doesn't have the subtle nuances, technique, believability that is the hallmark of a seasoned veteran. Instead it borders on embarrassment and mockery. Not pathology and pathos...
