Warren Buffet sold $80 BILLION worth of Apple stock recently.
He will be investing most of that money into MTG and Weiss sealed booster boxes.
🤣🤣🤣 Fair point. Card investing is fun and often profitable but in reality you're usually better off just investing in the S&P 500.
Don’t forget about Secret Lairs
I dont trust it. One day they can just turn off the internet. Ill still have pokemon cards then fake digets wont be here.@monkey39128

This is the best comment I've ever seen on this website
You know, people make fun of Rudy, and sometimes it's memes, sometimes it's real anger, but I have been watching these videos for a while now and they helped me tremendously because of the little final messages: to focus on what's good in life, that life is amazing, and at the end of the day we are all playing this game and it's not as much about the outcome as it is about the infinite choices you have along the way. Thanks Rudy, and your step-sister says hi 👋🏻
Beautifully said. ❤
How did getting swindled by this pompous con artist who tells you to stay positive help you. He wants you to stay positive so you keep giving him money for his horrible investment advice.
But he gives me a nice smack on the ass on my way out, that means he loves me, no? 🥹

"All we can do is make choices based on information we have at the moment to help increase the odds of success in the future." That's such a great quote.
People in the 60s, 70s, 80's, and 90s thought television and video games would ruin attention spans and make us stupid. They had no idea what was coming.
They were right. We are heading toward the idiocracy movie scenario.

I keep buying thousands and thousands of dollars worth of sealed MTG POKÉMON and FAB. Every month when I do inventory the price stays the same. Case after case, Nothjng is going up. What do I do? BUY MORE!

Yeah... I'm not touching anything in S&P right now...
Though I've said this since the COVID lows, the daily chart looks very precarious... Kinda confirmed a rising wedge break, and the 200 SMA is a long way below.. PMI numbers don't help either.
As a person who has upon occasion been precognitive, even with those moments of precognition, the future is not 100% predictable.

Hi Rudy! You and I have very different definitions of success but that doesn't make me think you're a bad person or anything. I like watching your videos despite that and even though I find the investment lifestyle to be spiritually vapid I share your love for life and enjoy the genuine human pathos you exhibit. Hate the game not the player and all that (not that I think my perspective is the objective truth or anything). Thanks for being a good soul and putting that energy out there
Thank you for this and all the other efforts you put on the videos, I am grateful for the advice.
Dude threw weiss into the convo of established card games like no one would notice lol
Listening to Rudy say the same economical advice over and over again is literal therapy for my cardboard addiction....or he's an enabler. Lol. Either way sets me straight. Love it bro!
Here's my tip. DON'T follow this man's advice! He didn't get rich from collectibles. This is just his hobby and you are part of his hobby
You won't get rich from them, but a little side investment or allocation that couldn't fit in your US 401k or CA TFSA put into a Pokemon set will most likely beat the S&P and shouldn't be to hard to sell off in 5 years, I for one am glad I got into "TCG investing" since it really boosted what my savings is worth in a rather short amount of time, also my tip, don't buy singles or vintage lol.
Love these videos Rudy, you are a classic contrarian.
I'm so happy that you mentioned cyclical markets....but how do I figure out where the money is moving to?
Prices not going back to previous lows....resistance, price memory.

This week was a fountain of video and wisdom from Rudy, thanks Taco King much appreciated
I believe it is hard to beat dividend investing. (not the highest dividends, but stocks that pay dividends.) The stock goes up, the stock goes down, you get paid either way. They are physical holding in real companies so they appreciate as the dollar depreciates (no need for gold); the perform better in down markets, allowing you to buy growth stocks with dividends at discounted valuations. I see collectibles as an enjoyable form of consumptions that may be worth more, but likely won't be.
Not much sealed MTG and Pokémon hasn’t gone up over time….
Tech stock beat dividends every time. Dividends benefit the elderly not the young. In the next 5 years the s&p 500 outpaces your dividends by a ton. Growth is most important which dividends are not
Rudy, I applaud you. You are providing great advice to a group of people, many of whom are not well exposed to the fundamentals of investing and long term thinking. I have followed thinking on financial independence for over a decade now and what you say here is on point for mine.
As always diamond paws for the win ... Hold and invest more, stay tight on expenses, the buying opportunities of those with fiat and without leveraged debt will make the biggest gains, wealth is transferred most at the lows and buying for the right price... Thx as always Ruby.
You have to realize that you can never PREDICT the future.... You can only PREPARE for it.
my 401k is the buffet allocation. 10% bonds 90% s&p 500. I just yolo the money in there and don't even follow the fluctuations. it's working out well.
Back in the gfc the fed funds rate was raised "quickly" (~1.5 years) to a high of 5.25% and remained flat for 1 year, before being rapidly lowered to nearly zero.
in august of 2023 the fed funds was raised to a high of just over 5.3% (after ~1 year of raises) and in the current month of august 2024 we have been at this high here for almost exactly 1 year.
I don't actually know that they won't keep the rates higher for longer like they keep saying. But I do know that whenever they choose to lower the rate again, it will either be the sign that we have been in a recession, or a self fulfilling prophecy that creates of one.
everyone smarter than me feel free reply with your correct predictions below.
I think to many physical/ digital dollars have already been printed that there is no going back for US currency. Our founding fathers said money should only be issued in silver and gold. They must of been onto something. You can’t print elements yet. I think we are screwed. The only thing I want more of is land.
Thanks!
I stop by this channel every month to see how bad Rudys balding gets and keep suggesting Finesteride everytime lol
I love these. Please keep them coming.
I think Raoul Pal nails it in regards to predicting the future. He asserts "is the future likely to be more digital or less digital? Far more likely to be more digital". So based on that I make a few educated assumptions, I make peace with potentially being wrong, and I invest accordingly.
Back to square one.. this is the first video that brought me into the mind of rudurygatory.

just be careful and wise on investing in physical items for long term. I doubt we will ever see a market boom of physical vintage or modern collectibles as we did during covid. mainly because what happened really shouldn't of ever happened but I believe with how fast we are advancing compared to our life spans I think in 10/15 years most physical possessions will be a thing of the past. so either evolve along or be stuck in the past. its scary cause I was born 1989 and nothing will ever compare to how truly awesome it was to be kid growing up in the 90s
Theres no way physical objects/collectibles will dissappear in our lifetime
@@MehtaCritic I didn't necessarily mean disappear like what's out there will be tossed away but just as a value standpoint. Things are gonna get super sketchy next 10/15 years especially when AI pretty much takes 80% percent of jobs from humans and those are forced into a universal basic income just to survive...just things are going to be much different in 20 years just like its completely different now then it was beginning of the millennium. Collectibles will still be around sure, but less an less people will appreciate or want to invest to own them when they can have anything these please digitally..it's a weird thing to think about but I look at it as moving forward to the collecting and flexing of none existing( digital ) things heading towards the future. For instance i strongly believe trading cards In cardboard form will be done by 2035 an there will be some form of digital purchasing/collecting going on around then. I don't wish for it but I mean hey all the big box stores already committed to removing all physical media by end of 2024...sad just sad
@@MehtaCritic hense though why I said most, I will never let my collection go unless the higher up's take all our shit away and toss us into high-rise skyscraper studio apartments with issued i.d. numbers and issued jobs, thats the stage of life I hope never happens in my lifetime. just eventually things are going to get crazy. all this AI, automatized and digital future is not good for us. its a great achievement sure, but theres just to many people on this earth for us to not having anything to do anymore..no more needing to drive to your local game store to purchase that awesome new release video game, no more needing to drive period when that drone flys in your groceries etc, no need to have a job when the robots we invented do it 10x better, its going to get wild and not a good wild unfortunately.
You might be right but in 20 years I’m going to be glad I have my possessions and remember what it’s like to have possessions. Even if the world economic forum gets their way.
@@chrisfloto3599 well hopefully your line of work can not be taken away by a robot that will be able to do it 10x better then you so you're not forced to go on a government issued universal basic income where they take all your shit away an force you into a studio apartment in high rise skyscrapers with a issued id number an peasant ish job just to survive. Dont get me wrong I also have a wild collection of collectibles that are from my childhood era of the 90s early 2000s that I will never let go. All I'm saying is as time moves forward and we get into this fully digital/automatized/AI world (which is sooner then you'd wish) there will be less an less people appreciate physical things. This whole conversation is around investing for long term. It has worked out great for people who have the last handful of decades but eventually little timmy who is being born now or relatively within the last decade isnt going to want to buy your box of Pokemon cards when everything has moved digital an the world shifts into collecting, flexing, showing off what they own not physically but digitally. It's scary to think about but things are going to get wild an not the good kind of wild. We haven't even began to come close to even touching the surface of what humans are capable of achieving. All I'm saying is be careful an wise what you're investing in. I personally would rather invest in 500/1000 huge ticket rare low pop items that I more then likely could find buyers for in the future then 500,000 sealed boxes that may have only a couple 10,000 people if that interested in 15 years down the road...

35 years old and still invested in intel. Feels bad man.
At least it’s better than Lulu and Crwd.
@larryjang5580 it's actually not depending on how long it's been held. At least with LULU and CRWD if you bought 2+ years ago you're still up. If you have Intel you're just down period.
I paused the video at 1:48 and predicted that you would say that people generally fail in predicting the market because the market is made of people all following each other, and the trend is your friend until the end round the bend when Chuck Norris punches you in the face... Let's see how close I got...

I fail because I traded INTC single shares.
It's not a fail if you did it for legitimately good reasons (assuming it was just a small part of your portfolio). Intel is coming off of a decade of basically sitting back and doing nothing - and just this past year they've started changing things that IMO are for the better. Those 10 years of laziness are finally catching up though, and any improvements won't be felt for awhile (if they can stay afloat). No shame in moving the money somewhere else or sitting and waiting, just do whatever you do for a reason other than just because it's down.
I think the biggest takeaway I got is that magic the gatherings just isn't a fun game. I'll take my 500 bucks and go out with friends or spend time doing meaning family activities instead 😊

Not sure how this video ended up in my feed but really enjoyed it. A lot of good level headed thoughts.
I think people just compare the now to a recent point in time and get brain fog. Like oh no, Nvidia dropped 30%! Meanwhile it's up ~100% from a year ago. Or in my field, game development, people freak out about mass firings when they're only even happening because of the major industry boom during covid - and it's still significantly bigger today than pre-covid. All those spikes in life are just a smooth ride when you zoom out.
