    Rodman comes from very humble beginnings. He’s an anomaly, and very sensitive, and complex man. One of the most polarizing players in league history. Tough and emotionally vulnerable at the same time. You all should watch his documentary about his trip to North Korea. He’s Kim Jong’s favorite player which already lets you know how interesting he is. Hall of famer and basketball savant. Great video! One of the most polarizing personalities in the history of sports, but Rodman on the court was a defensive wizard and a tremendous rebounder. Rodman was 5 inches shorter and 80ish pounds lighter than young, in his prime Shaq, but Rodman was one of the few guys that could guard Shaq 1 on 1

    Dennis Rodman was one of the all time great rebounders, he was undersized at 6'7" 210 lbs, Barkley was too, but he was 260lbs. His defense was mostly based on him getting inside guys heads, but he was a pest as well, relentless. He was a 7x Rebound champ and an 8x All defense. This vid showed him scoring but he only shot the ball when he had to, he would usually stand around on offense or position himself for the offensive rebound.

Ben Wallace is probably the last NBA player to do that at an elite level. I can't even think of any stars in the league today like that. Guys like PJ Tucker and Pat Bev are role players. • @derred723
    @derred723 Před 2 lety

    Rodman was epic. I lived in Chicago when he was there. Every game he gave his shirt to the crowd. Did it from day one in Chicago and every game for three years. He dyed his hair a lot and when he came to Chicago he died it team colors red. People weren't sure what they were getting in Chicago, bad boy problem kid. But game one he dives horizontal into the crowd for a ball and immediatly the fans loved his effort. Chicago did NOT care what he did, that he had tatoos, they love that their guy gave everything. Also he really was 90% defense. They show a few offensive highlights but that was rare. But the crowd loved it when the defender would score so they'd egg him on to shoot threes. He was known to not be a great shooter so defenders would back off of him when he was way out by the three point line but his home Chicago crowd didn't care and was scream "SHOOOOOOOT!!!" Denis would often obligue and many times he'd make it to the roar of the delight from the crowd. all part of the D-Rod show. And yeah marries Carmen Electra. I forgot what the wedding dress was for but he dressed up in one and rod a chariot down the street once. Dude was one of a kind out there. And again. chicago didn't care cause he was beast mode when it came to delivering on the court. One time he was in Wrestlemania with Hulk Hogan too. Definitely a character.

    To defend in basketball, watch your opponents belly button. No matter what his head or hands are doing, he's going nowhere without his belly button. I've always wondered if that works in football (I'm an American so I mean your football), but I think a footballer being able to pass it to himself might cause a difference. Enjoy your points of view.

    • @derred723
      @derred723 Před 2 lety

      to a degree it works in every sport. It's old school. And they do tell you when playiing american football and sometimes football of which i played both, to watch their midsection. In American football, it' show they used to teach tackling. Now lots of guys just try to hit and not tackle so they can't do it. With football, I've found it worked very well for me because i was quick, and had great footwork so i didn't get put off balance. I could react and recover very well. I played a lot of basketball and defensively it made me a really really good defender. Couldn't shoot for shite but i being a young defensive back in American football and a year spent in defense for my club youth team gave me great footwork that helped a ton in playing basketball. With regular football i will say an issue is footwork is exceptionally important so you don't constantly get nutmegged, plus you have to close down potential passing lanes so you can be unbalance simply by feigning a pass to make you lift a foot in reaction. And then there is the simple fact that some players are simply quick going either direction, even with the ball, and it's a struggle to stay with them simply because they can go from standing still to full speed faster than even even the best defenders and when you over commit they will cut back with the same acceleration in the opposite direction.
