    I’m playing this for my December concert. Being a bass clarinet and playing a part with the flute blows my mind. Like, I have never really had to play the high register and now I suddenly have to? It’s so cool and I’m so excited for it.

      As a Clarinet that used to be in marching band and that played second. I shall clarify yes. It was hard and for all the clarinets out there I wish ya luck in whatever grade your in!

    Playing this for our assessment concert (preparing extra hard for it, hence why we got it in winter) I'm so glad that I'm a percussionist

      Same! I am actually a middle schooler playing with high school for the second time, and I’m super excited to play this with them.

    Played this, as a violin, in the orchestra quite loud. My ears RIP

    We played this for our UIL music last school year (somewhere in last of of school year, or known as the first half of 2023)

    Semi-sight reading this as a high school to play with a nearby middle school, as they’re doing this piece. I’m the bass clarinet (part 4) and I can say this piece is, pretty fun. Sad I only will be playing it one day to help out a nearby band (it’s something or high school top band is doing lol). There’s really only one challenging fingering that happens twice, but other than that pretty straightforward ^^

    I don’t understand why they played the music so fast. It seemed like they were going well beyond the 160 bbm in the last section of the song. Not to mention the duet was almost crushed by the sound of the percussion

    • @davejames901
      @davejames901 Před rokem +6

      It seems like the percussion section picked the tempo up in their soli section... not sure if that was intentional.

      The goofy tempos kinda ruined the song

    • @sarafurino6782
      @sarafurino6782 Před rokem +3

      @@makiing_thiings7212it’s the point of music. You’ll have different tempo changes throughout songs sometimes. One measure you’ll be slow and joyful, next you’ll be fast and energetic. It’s the love about music that makes it 10x better

    • @syxph3r
      @syxph3r Před 4 měsíci +2

      @@sarafurino6782 but it wasn't how Balmages intended

    • @joysplanetofficial
      @joysplanetofficial Před 3 měsíci +3

      @@syxph3ri agree. it should’ve started off a little bit more slower. although it was really good, the end picked up so much that it didn’t really feel like the gist of the song. it ended up feeling more like a suspenseful composition or something. the song was meant to have energy and emphasis, not only speed. it sped though so fast that the clarinet eighth notes near the end were barely heard.
