    My nephews 2013 Corolla had the same code. Talked to my neighbor, who is a Toyota tech, and he said he has tried replacing the shift solenoid and doing a flush in the past, but the problem came back. I told him I would try a flush. I just dropped the pan and noticed about 7 small pieces of metal stuck on the magnet. They look like small pieces of a gear. I'm sure it needs a transmission. Toyota built crappy torque converters as well, so it might be from it. I'm putting everything back together so he can at least drive it back home.
    Update. My nephew had a shop order a used transmission, and it's been working solid. It's been about 10 months now.

      Never power flush. Drain, fill, replace the filter, then drain and fill every 30 k thereafter, these transmissions are excellent though they like fluid that has not been contaminated.

    Go OEM parts, filter, O ring and gasket for a few more $'s, a dab of silicone gasket maker just to hold the gasket. That silicone on the inside of the pan perimeter will fall into the pan and system.

    Nice lecture but my question is what is the relationship between shift solenoid 'A' with 3rd & 4th gear not engaging. What if it was the solenoid 'B' that had issue; which of the gears wud ve have been affected.

      With that particular vehicle we ended up replacing the transmission, It may or may not be your Transmission sednoid being the bad part. • @autorepairchamps
      @autorepairchamps  Před 3 lety +1

      @@graveyardrumblers With no reverse I am thinking you could very well be possible right , your transmission is out . The code description is telling you that the gear required by the ECM does not match the actual gear when driving (2-trip detection logic) to confirm that . the trouble area are 4 possibilities.
      1- Shift solenoid valve S1 remains open or closed
      2- Valve body is blocked
      3- Shift solenoid valve S1
      4- Automatic transaxle (clutch, brake or gear etc.) . This one is most likely your problem. Sorry :(

      @@graveyardrumblers One more thing I just thought about , would be nice if you could try it and report back
      Disconnect the transmission connector and check to see if the vehicle will now go into reverse. The computer should not be able to prevent reverse. If the transmission does not go into reverse with the solenoids disconnected, there is a transmission problem.

      @defi9er Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@edwarddizon7871I dropped the transmission pan in an attempt to change the SLU or lock up solenoid, and I couldn’t get to it. You have to drop the valve body to change it on a 2013 at least. I ended up changing my filter and fluid three times and the light went off and everything’s fine now so try getting your fluid really clean.

    • @edwarddizon7871
      @edwarddizon7871 Před 10 měsíci

      @@defi9er that's great to hear. Did you flush it three times or was it changed from the pan three times? How was the fluid when you first changed it out and how did it change after the second and third flush? My transmission got rebuilt a year ago and threw this code. The fluid was still a nice red color when I drained the transmission fluid. I changed it with new ATF and am still getting this code. I'll drive with it again and change it once more.

    • @defi9er
      @defi9er Před 10 měsíci

      My fluid was black. All from the pan with new filter. Sounds like you may have a bad solenoid or torque converter. Check your levels and make sure you don’t have too much fluid. I’m 50/50 that mine was overfilled. Also make sure to use the Toyota fluid. My fluid is still kind of dirty. I think the Toyota fluid just appears dirty because it’s so thin.
