Which player are you the most surprised didn't pan out?
Julian Fleming
Film a "Steal of the Draft" video. My choice is FSU's Jordan Travis going in the fifth round.
Can you do an episode on 2 star recruits and lower that got drafted?
@@tarico4436yes đ€Šââïž he should have been 2nd round at worst
@@juniorbeastyt I know. He was in the conversation top 5 (or at least top 10) almost all of his senior year, wins 11 games, looses zero games, throws for 20 TDs and only 2 picks, then gets hurt......... and then falls to the fifth round?? I still see him being the 4th best QB of this draft.
Kendall Milton not getting drafted honestly attests more to fact that RBs arenât desirable in the modern game anymore.
He was an objectively good player but suffered through injuries, isnât much of a pass catcher, and had a lackluster combine performance. The NFL needs players with more versatility, and the bar is especially high for RBs in this category nowadays. You canât just be a *good* RB anymore.
I think the traditional running backs are going to be removed as did the traditional quarterback. Statue QB's are pretty much dead with the exception of Cousins, Carr and Aaron Rogers. Modernism and rule changes are soon to do away with the play of running backs, Safeties, line backers and edge rusher as their becoming more of a hybrid role. With the tackling rule change what's the need for a hard hitting enforcer in the middle of your defense? And with the rule change advantage for the receivers why run it when you can line your RB up and throw it to him. RB's better know how to run routes and catch, edge rusher better be fast and able to cover those receiving backs and chase those mobile QB's and poor safeies better know how to play all phases of the defense. If they don't those 5 stars mean nothing when you get around guys that's better than you.
20 running backs got drafted.
@@OSSM_trauma both carr and cousins arent completely statues, they can scramble when needed
@@dzs. That's true my guy but they are not a threat to run. The point is having to scheme and adjust your defense to defend it, the past rush is different against mobile QB. Ask yourself why the saints pass rush looked different against running QB's than they do against a none threatening one? Any QB can scramble but when they are not a threat that's different. Trust me a running QB is like a 12th man on offense.

Transferring from school to school kills there development
If you are a 5 Stars recruit, donât go to the U of Miami.
Cristobal is a great recruiter, but awful coach.
Imagine joining the ACC and NEVER winning itâŠ. 20 fking years ago.
Theyâre irrelevant and everyone knows. None of their fans even went to the school.
Yeah itâs a death sentence
Those days are over so get your popcorn ready and your Haterade on ice.
@@Battlegnome112still got 5 Chips. Get your Haterade ready.
Leonard Taylor. Wow I thought for sure he'd be a 1st rounder if not 2nd. It's a shame he should have returned for sr season. Would have made more money in NIL and probably boost stock for next draft.
Same story different year.
Milton stayed injured at uGA, it took him a while to adjust to the inured knee. He looked to be getting back to form his last few games.
Thereâs still the UFL. He goes there for a couple of years, proves his knee is back to normal, grab some tape, maybe the NFL scoops him up. At the very least he gets paid to play football.
Edwards and Milton disserved to get drafted
@@miketemple7686heâs in the nfl bro heâs on the eagles
Some of these young men head become so large, their ego hurt their game, their chances, and achievements to advance to the next level.
This is the prime example why I always say results on the field is what matters getting the best out of the talent is whatâs most important.
Why you had to use the word "prime," huh đ€ You're a Deion fan like that, smh đđđ
J/k now đ đżââïž lol
Exactly because letâs be real a lot of high school districts be trash so getting ranked wonât be hard if youâre better than the average
This just proves how these recruiting sites are mostly BS, and not an exact science.
That makes Michigan number 1 in that field
I believe overtime weâre really going to see a negative impact on player development from the transfer portal. It essentially enables a quitter attitude. Previously if you lost playing time, got suspended, etc. it put you in a position to compete/grow. Whereas now most players just say screw it and leave. Really no loyalty to your teammates or personal accountability. Iâm not saying transferring shouldnât be allowed, but itâs getting kind of ridiculous.
Really depends on the situation. Jayden Daniels transferred and it really helped him. I doubt it really affects player development over all.
@@AAblade7 Yes, of course it heavily depends on the situation. Thereâs always going to be exceptions. In that one though I feel that Daniels already had good character and drive so he didnât necessarily need the âdevelopmentâ the way a lot of players do. When thereâs no longterm commitment required and you start to play a team sport with an individualistic mindset itâs going to cause issues. I mean just look at the Cormani McClain situation. Thatâs a character issue, and one thatâs not going to be fixed if heâs just allow to bounce around every time he gets push back from a coach. Just my opinion though!
@@bankst.productions8572 honestly i donât know enough about Cormani McClainâs situation. Though giving how ugly it looks from the headlines Iâm not sure either side looks that great right now. One thing Iâll agree is that Iâm not sold on building primarily through the transfer portal. And Itâs also just my opinion which if it mattered all that much would mean Iâd be earning a lot more money working for sports media.
Nick saban? Is that you ?
@@Metaintelligencia Hahahaha! Wow dude, that was really good. You made a great point. I appreciate you pointing out the flaws in my narrative, never saw those before man.

How is a kid a bust if he medically retired?
JT Daniels played for my USC Trojans. He was the number 1 QB in high school. He played for 4 different teams in college and continuously lost his starting QB position
He was a bust. I am a GA fan, and he lost his job to walk on stetson bennett. I watched him play though, he was less than mid against actual competition. Had he entered the draft he would not have gotten drafted.
A-State had Jayden Danielâs take that comment back đđ
When A State and Arizona first joined the Pac 8 Pac 10, the rest of the Pac feared both. And they did great in many sports. Yes, they aren't 'Bama, USC and The Ohio State, but
UGA fan here...JT Daniels was an elite QB he just was injury prone and in weird situations first at USC then UGA and West VA, calling him a bust is wrong.
Now Kendal Milton..stayed the course at UGA behind Nick Chub, Sony Michel, Deandre Swift, Elijah Holyfield, Zamar White, James Cook and Kenny McIntosh, yes he was injury prone but here is an interesting fact with UGA RBs in the Kirby Smart Era...Only 1 RB has been hurt in an actual game, the rest are injuries sustained in Practice (kinda makes me wonder what the hell they are doing)
As a Michigan fan Iâve seen so many over the years. Soooooo many. So many in fact I stopped being excited over the elusive 5-star ranking. In fact, itâs usually their lower ranked drafts classes that wound up doing the best.
Being a five star puts a lot of expectations and pressure on a 17/18 year old kid to live up to.
"5 Star Recruit" is so overrated...ALOT of these guys get hit with reality in college and are just not that good. The ridiculous thing is that people still cling to "He was a 5 star recruit" when it becomes obvious after a few seasons in college that he is just a guy but nowhere near a dominating player.
it really be the 3 stars that be making the biggest difference or jump in skill.
@@Vashaun11 no doubt! Some dudes are as big as they EVER gonna get in High school...they matured faster and were men vs boys...then when they get to College they stay where they are while others mature and surpass them...and all of a sudden they aren't 'that guy" anymore.
@@leevancleef358 facts
63% of 5* recruits are drafted. 5.5% of 3* end up being drafted. I will take a team of 5* recruits over a team of 3* recruits any day.
No, it matters a lot. There are typically only a few dozen players who get a 5-star ranking and many do get drafted.
No team in the last 25 years has won the national championship without having a top 10 recruiting class in the previous 4 yearsâŠdevelopment matters but stars are also there for a reason
As long as you are recruiting top 15-20 classes you have the talent to win it all. Michigan just won without recruiting 1 five star the last 4 years!
@@SurferRC jj maccarthy was a five star and they had 8 class in 2019 the number 10 in 2020 and number 9 in 2022 and they brought in some top transfers
â@@thuzezaJJ was a consensus 4 star. What Michigan did was extremely impressive and has NEVER been done before, they take good / great talent and develope the players into elite talent. Unlike most other schools that buy highschool players at an elite level and do little with it.

@@mikeworkman1759 jj mccarthy was a composite 5 star recruit and michigan had 3 top 10 classes since 2019.
Cormani is next....
Surprised Leonard Taylor wasnât drafted. Must be some off field stuff because he was definitely a draftable player imo. The other guys arenât surprises
Me too... I'm surprised because he was a DOG in High School and was a beast in College. Had to be off the field
Injuries
As someone who worked with Eyabi last season I love that kid his mentality knowing it was his last year was very mature but he also was just a great friend to have and will stand up for any of his younger teammates. He should think about coaching because he is good at explaining pass rush concepts.
Theres a myriad of reasons why a high school five star might not get drafted after years in college.
Hope this didnât happen for Julian Fleming. Really was excited about him going into college
I think he transferred to Penn State, so 1 more year to get his stats up
AKEEM DENT is going to shock people ! He can play but gets overlooked because his size.
The problem is you have people rating these players who never played a down in college better yet high school. But somehow they have a eye for talent. đ
Agreed đđŸ đŻ
most 5* guys DO end up in the NFL though. Itâs actually impressive how well they are identified at an early age.
@@acct5910 actually it's not impressive. Stars by your name don't mean anything. Because if it did there wouldn't be people in the NFL who had less than 5 stars
Thats not true, I guarantee you cant name a single person working for Rivals or any other recruiting serviceđđđđyou have no idea what youre talking about
@@davidsimmons3391fude stop pretending yo know about college football recruiting and development, this is a lazy illinformed simplistic take
Notice a trend? All of these kids transferred all over the place. Says to me they had no fight or drive to actually put the work in to get better.
Akeem dent was CATUALL GOOD đąđąđą
Eagle's: georgia?
Recruiter: yeah but he went undrafted even though he won national mvp
Eagle's: dont care. I want it.
Eyabi Okie played at Michigan. He was actually coming on toward the end of the year. Had an incredible spin move sack of CJ Stroud vs 2023 top 10 pick, T, Paris Johnson Jr. fumble, that would've been a scoop n score but they wrongfully called Stroud down.
Michigan was pounding OSU so bad they didn't challenge which was fine as they picked Stroud off the very next play.
Okie/Anoma should've stayed at Michigan they definitely would've used him although they clearly didn't need him. He transferred to play with Biff Poggi (Poggi was reason he went to Michigan) who had just left Michigan for HC at Charlotte.
Eyabi I was so excited for! Especially considering I graduated with his brother in high school. I hope he gets a chance in the league!
To make matters worse, being a 5 stsr recruit means nothing nowadays. While it does mean you can pick almost any school a recruit could possibly desire, it doesn't guarantee job security, it doesn't mean you'll be drafted and it doesn't mean you'll get any meaningful opportunity to prove yourself.
Actually most of them made the League, so I donât think anyone was a disappointment.
Being undrafted doesnât really mean that much because any of the drafted are still making the League minimum.
The draft only assures teams recruit the positions they need with limited picks, but it doesnât mean they donât need more positions.
How the hell is JT Daniels holding that football
That's what I was thinking
As an Asu alumn truth hurts!!!!đđ
JT was solid just got hurt too much
Transferring to 4 schools is insane
My question is why tf do people go to Miami when Florida Has FSU and The Gators đ€Šââïž what do they think Miami can do that their better rivals canât
Iâm sure itâs difficult to go from being an absolute dominant high school player to going to D1 where everyone was dominant. I played high school ball with some guys who got D1 scholarships. These guys were absolute freaks of nature and very good players. None of them got significant playing time in college đ€Ż
Iâm a uga fan , Milton didnât just pop off enough plus he battled injuries
Itd be cool if you added why they werent drafted or what went wrong
You can't call guys bust if they have to stop playing due to injuries
The star rating system doesn't mean anything.
Some of these kids take bad advice and transfer when they shouldn't.
Stars really donât matter, when it comes to actually having results on the field
Jt Danialâs ant drafted cuz he donât even have his fingers on the laces.
Laces out đźđźđ
You made it seem like jt kept losing his job because of performance, he was not a bust at all. He never lost a game at uga. All of his seasons were shortened solely for injury. Do better
A lot of these guys run at the first sign of adversity and keep running. That will never build a great player.
Another thing is even with 5+ years, these 5 star players still couldn't get drafted. If that doesn't tell you, you need to chsnge your career path, i don't know what will.
Where the time stamp for the names đ€
Akeem should have never cut his dreads.
Milton
I knew he was iffy when He first came to Georgia as a freshman #22 at the time.
Nice kid from California. He had some good runs here
and there.
Me personally. I did not like his style. He was always running looking for somewhere to fall down. Instead of keeping his head and his knees up and running the ball.
He did get a little better towards the end of his college career.
The running backs, That's there now. Coming behind him will be better than he was a lot better.
Remember the name Branson Robinson #0
And Trevov Etienne from Florida đ€ If he can stop getting d u i's in Athens.
I guarantee that Milton makes the Eagles final roster. Hard worker and can play RB & Special Teams.
Look at how many times some of these guys transferred. Stunts their development and makes NFL GMs doubt their commitment. Bad combination.
Wonder if any of them will end up playing in the UFL
As an ASU fan, you should be able to recall Vontaze Burfict. Best impact player of that defense and almost single handedly upset Georgia.
Milton just couldn't stay healthy. He was injured pretty much every single year.
Heads That Got To BIG For Helmets !
I donât think Hakeem dent was I just think that the only reason he was drafted up is because this draft class has a lot good players
***Akeem Dent was a 4 star recuit out of high school
Nah Akeem Dent has the most successful career outta all these 5 stars but didnât get drafted đ€Šââïž
