VIDEO INFORMATION
I gotta say… This whole movie instantly reminded me of General’s Fried Chicken from Undercover Brother. What's going on everyone, JBuck here, and we’re gonna be breaking down everything, the ending, themes, weird references, and of course our reaction and review of this latest Netflix movie, They Cloned Tyrone, which was a great surprise.
So if you are new here, welcome to JBuck Studios, please Like and Subscribe to ensure a delicious box of that wet, juicy chicken, and of course stay up to date on our latest breakdowns and other weird videos.
Otherwise thank you so much for clicking this, please pass that tabasco, because this chicken.. Has got no… flavor. I tried with the pun, there’s a writer’s strike, give me a break, as we get into They Cloned Tyrone.
Alright so this whole thing kicks off establishing this Glen area as a ghetto, where everyone depends on everyone to keep it… well a ghetto. John Boyega’s Fontaine, his name meaning fountain or water source, is one of the main drug dealers running the show, keeping his territories from being taken over by rival dealer Issac. Fontaine’s contact, Slick Charles, is a local pimp doing the same, with a group of gals on his roster including Yo-Yo.
Now Fontaine is quickly shot and killed only to wake up the next morning like it was some sort of surreal nightmare. Not thinking much of it, he continues to live the same day, same activities, same meetings with people, until Slick Charles acts like he’s seen a damn ghost, telling Fontaine he was 50 Cent’d the night before, with Yo-Yo confirming that the dude was D.E.D… DEAD. Searching for clues, Fontaine discovers a vehicle he had seen earlier that day pick up a random dude and speed off. Fun fact, well not really fun, but this was the Fontaine from the night before, as the three Scooby-Doo investigate and find a secret laboratory under a drug house, blowing open a massive conspiracy that the Glen is run by an elaborate network of white government scientists and researchers, using the citizens as human guinea pigs to test out new products, songs, substances, even clones, to essentially control and bend the Black population into behaving the way they want. Think the whole conspiracy of “The Man keeping people down” is in fact real, which perfectly ties in with Undercover Brother’s whole plot of mind control fried chicken. Almost beat for beat the same.

It was the best movie this year, so far.
The reason why it's so easy for black people to make stuff like this it's because this is sincerely how most of us feel
Really is movie best of the year
Interesting and though provoking movie.
Thanks for the explanation I didn't really understand the ending but what an amazing movie I loved the vibe the songs and everything and you're right only the three of them make the movie even better excellent trio
The scene when he broke in his mother's room and realized it was an recording was so sad😓😓, his acting was amazing ❤
Easily the most shocking reveal to me, and yeah his emotional breakdown was heartbreaking
Very good metaphor for how a lot of kids grow up parentless in hood. Parents absent for all kinds of reasons: clubbing, running the streets, whoredom. It was a very good scene.
Makes sense. Only the original had parents. And I don't recall women clones.
@@E-Nigma_or work. A lot of women had to work to provide for their families. Still do, which makes them largely absent.
Best scene ever lol 😂
This movie was actually sad asf . Having lived in the hood my whole life here in Philly , this was just fkn sad . The part where Fontaine ask his mom to talk to him broke my heart . Great movie .
Growing up in Watts, and for the movie to come full circle in LA was surreal. The hopelessness John Boyega was able to convey through his eyes while playing Fontaine was beyond real. As I recall, Boyega grew up in an inner city of London with a high crime rate as well. That combined with his performance arts education made him the perfect fit to guide us on this journey. Genuine performance.

Community is the hope
like I was finna say where the hell is his mom she dont ever come out the room ?? like dang she never hungry then to find out she's just a voice recording and damn just to find out youre a clone...is wicked
Yea I grew up in Htown sunnyside and it definitely triggered me a bit.
You totally missed the reason they didn't clone Yoyo was because she was a dime a dozen, meaning no one really cares when black women go missing( this was before that hoax). I love this movie, but I am scared, too. My mom used to say every movie and story got a little truth to it. It's all a matter of how far they stretch it. Think about Black mirror metalhead( robotic attack dogs) police are using that tech right now, Arkangel( parents tracking kids use tablets, air tags etc), and Joan is awful why did actor's join writers strike? Getting paid one day salary and AI having unlimited usage of their likeness. Netflix(Streamberry) stay throwing out clues.
And also the black mirror ep with Daniel Kaluya, which is essentially Tiktok influencers.
Facts
There was a black female clone. I think the agent may have meant because YoYo is a prostitute, or a loose woman.
OMG! You are absolutely right
@@lynnellscott9079Several serial killers have been known to focus on prostitutes especially black ones because they are the least likely to be reported missing or cared about.
What about the old drunk! He knew the whole time what was going on
He definitely knew what was going on but he did like the man said forget about it and move on with your life. He’s clone was shown too.
@@johnicquaferguson I thought he was the old man in sitting in front of the liquor store that was once the young man who hung out/sat in front of the liquor store, which is why he noticed what was going on. I'll have to go back and watch it again.
That’s how it normally is 💀
I felt he was the archetype of the spook who sat by the door
Oracle -ish.
He said what he said. And no one was listening. Smh
The culture of ratchet behavior, poor eating habits, self hate, poor vocabulary, garbage music and poor financial acumen needs to be eradicated in our communities. The mix of eras throughout the movie is symbolic to the "same ole same ole, nothings changed" spell that many of our people are under.
Thank you nothing has changed with democrats or republicans we are the underclass of this nation made to make everyone rich
It's call programming. Every group has different programming established by the CIA and other covert operations.
We need to wake up!!

The best compliment I could give to this Netflix original movie is that I would have paid to see this in the theater. Yes, They Cloned Tyrone is that good. Watch it ASAP.
seeing this movie in a theater full of black people would have been a vibe.
I saw references to Fringe, They live, Grounds Hog Day, Blaxploitation, 70's, 80's and 2020s. It was a retro vibe, with VHS quality. They took the 3 main archetypes that you can find in any hood. Using them was perfect. This was one of the best Movies on Netflix this year.
Seen you commenting on a few channels about this movie lol. Great movie
This is one of the best movies, I've ever seen on Netflix !!!
Funny, entertaining, mysterious, dramatic, thrilling, and action filled. Along with a hidden message, that causes you to think about and question things in life.
Which part reminds of fringe, I absolutely love that show!!?
Don't forget Pootie Tang
@@KnewYawkPapi I want to know what part reminds you of fringe too?
I definitely wouldn’t mind a “we cloned Tyrone” part 2 and 3
Hell milk that shit like fast and furious I’m watching every one😂😂
Seeing how they set the stage to free other cities that are “sleep”, I wouldn’t mind watching them go around the country liberating people while watching them evolve themselves in the process (:
Same fam same...
Same!
I watched that shi like 3 times , hope they add a second movie , or at least a movie that related to it.
This movie will go down as a classic. The acting and the cinematography alone were spectacular. I hope we get a part two.
I got a theory... What if "the glen" wasn't necessarily a real place but instead a test place to experiment 🧪🥼 people and then if the experiment went well they then move out to bigger real cities such as LA and Detroit. 👀 What if almost everybody there at the glen was all clones and the girl yoyo was a metaphor name (she keeps coming back) (simulation was the theme for the movie) to see how the clones reacts to real people??... 👀 Reasons why if y'all noticed the beepers, the 70s 80s early 00s styles & music in the glen? They are all clones from the past
Yooooooo, straight up this has gotta be somewhat true. I didn’t even think about it, but WOW
Great Theory! The ending of the film points to the 90's version of the "Glen". I don't think the experimenters care about the uprising. I think its apart of the experiment.
That was obvious!
@@calm1047 shut up
This is an excellent theory. I couldn’t figure out the representation of the various eras. That has to be it
This movie is especially important to Black people and those who are or have lived in the hood. There are so many references which can be overlooked by those outside the culture. The film is genius and full of Easter eggs. It needs to be viewed several times to insure nothing is missed. It reminds me of the genius behind Childish Gambino’s “This is America.” Great film!
I got the same feeling when I saw 👀 the movie 🍿
I was pausing for nearly every minute trying to get the gems. The scene where pimp picked up the book about the hidden stairs..I was like hmm..I watched videos of victims of Satanic S. Abuse, they always mention hidden stairs in mansions, celeb houses, leading to the underground world hidden from the rest of society. Plus elevators too. That just reminded me of that. I guess the Jewish synagogue that police raided to find hidden rooms and tunnels could be a good example of hidden stairs.
I haven’t heard anybody mention the old man outside the gas station when he said “you smell like a new car”after he died and went through his regular routine 😭
That shit was so funny😂 I also remember the “it’s in the water young blood”
No wat he meant when he said that was implying that it was a fresh new body .. new clone .. which is why he said u smell like a new car

Exactly
The crazy part is this is the absolute truth if you really sit back and think about it
But it's the human race
Man I have watched this at least 7 times already 8.5 /10 is not enough and the message of the movie is what's really happening, science fiction is based on science facts
💯
My first thought was how years back some black folks lost their minds when Popeye's ran out of their chicken sandwiches, and people started fighting the employees, each other, and destroying property over a sandwich. It was unreal.
FACT.....
the scene with Slick Charles singing "I'm Goin Down...." had me DYIN.....i will prolly watch it again tonight
@@lynnellscott9079Exactly
I love how it showed the Way that the MUSIC DOES PEOPLE! Everything in this Movie was TRUE! THE MOVIE WAS SHOWING US WHATS GOING ON!!! The PURPLE LIGHTS ARE FOR THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN JUICED. THERE IS A MESSAGE IN THIS WHOLE MOVIE! This Movie is the Reason, that Jamie ended up in The Hospital….. Wake Up America and Pay Attention!
Yep I understood the music scenario
Omg, I was literally about to type everything you just said! These people are so lost. They're literally telling/showing us what they're doing and it's STILL going over everyone's head smh. This is Exactly why Jamie Foxx ended up in the hospital. These folks in the comments talking cinematography and acting...... what about the damn Message in the movie!🤦🏽♀️ Wake tf Up Y'all!!
The sad thing many of us African Americans will think this is just a movie and not truth in plain sight.
The movie is exaggerated but the population is definitely being controlled through music and the food we consume amongst other things.
Not true for all
@@ttlove92 The "catholic chicken" in the movie is Chick-fil-a/Popeyes and they put a white powder-like substance in the food. This alludes to how the government puts chemcials in the food to make it more addicting by releasing dopamine in your brain. This is why people go crazy over it like a drug. One of the many truths portrayed in the movie
It's based off all facts it should have said based on a true story
Only 85er will not see the truth smacking them in the face. 🐑 🧏♂️ 🙊 🙈
I absolutely loved the nostalgia of the cinematography...in the beginning I couldn't make out what decade they were in because it gave 70s, 80s, and 90s vibes to me....the whole movie just worked!!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I believe it was the 90s
@@horusthegod1731 they mentioned Obama though
@Rioagoat oh well shot idk lol. From the phones they had to the tvs I thought It was late mid to late 90s.

@@horusthegod1731there are many hoods around the US that just stopped in time. This movie did a great job of showing how poverty leads to a stagnant community of people. Recreating cycles over and over.
I would love to see a prequel of Tyrone’s story being one of the first clones I presume and how the doctor got started cloning himself. I would also like to see a sequel of Tyrone now finding out he’s a clone.
This not just a movie its been documented they have always done expirements on Black people. Its mind blowing everybody acts like this is just a fictitious movie or am missing something????

Facts! I've never seen so many ignorant comments in my life. These folks are so brainwashed it's sad
This was one of my favorite movies of this year! Such a great watch!
Surprisingly good. I hope more people watch this weekend
Any 80's babies remember "I'm gonna get you sucka?"😂😂😂 They cloned Tyrone was pretty thought provoking and entertaining. The acting was pretty good, especially the lead, Fountaine.
Bruh brought it back😂
If only they knew
Grew up in Watts, this movie hit home on so many levels!
I definitely would have been a clone to my environment if I didn’t wake up, really look around, and want better for myself. Thank God for my moms prayers, persevering and getting us out of the hood. Lost so many child hood friends to gun violence and prison.
I loved it! There’s no coincidence that Jamie Fox is being spotted, and people don’t believe it’s him, right before this dropped
🤣🤣🤣
Man i totallly didn't expect to love this movie as much as i did. I immediately watched it again after the first time through. And the Eryka Badu remix of "Call Tyrone" at the end to "Somebody Cloned Tyrone" had me dying. That was the cherry on top. 10/10 for me.
Wow this reminded me of undercover brother and the Popeyes chicken sandwiches when people were really fighting people over these sandwiches. True❤
Ahhh man, I completely forgot about how eager everyone was for those sandwiches!
That Bikini Bottom reference and history of the real life location is mind blowing 😮 This is the first I’ve ever of it. Wow, now I have another rabbit hole to go down.
Great review awesome breakdown. I just watched this movie and all I could think about was undercover brother. I think they did a pretty good job of taking the comedic version and making it into a drama.
I literally said the same thing
They really unsettling me on this one. 😂
Not gonna lie I flipped this on Friday night wit my girl & the first 15 mins I was trippin cuz the quality wasn’t sharp…it then hit me that it was by intention & I was on board cinematography was excellent , the use of colors , the grainy effect truly captured the essence..great movie an great casting , we were pleasantly impressed with the movie 👍🏽👍🏽
Ratio
Enjoyed it as much as Get Out.
Real thought provoking 😊
We gotta wake up, it’s easy for our enemies when just in the 1960s they was scared to death.
What has happened to us in 60 years?🤷🏾♂️
This pretty much takes all the parts of 'Get out, US, and undercover brother' and mixes them together.
Temporary COMFORT...
That's what has happened to us... We don't realize urs temporary but... It is
I loved the way they set it up, isn't some crazy shit that would never happens and makes no sense, the way they get dragged into it makes sense and it's on the correct pace...
If yall also notice, when tyrone sees his clone on tv, before they could say what city it was in, the other guy coughed and covered it. They’re never really too specific on the locations. Even The Glen doesnt have a specific location. That makes you think that these experiments could be happening everywhere
I have a theory that Tyrone is in LA. As a LA resident, I recognized the setting and came to the conclusion that Tyrone may even be a crip, not sure from what set though 🤔 but the face tats, blue flannel and palm trees gave it away to me.
And idk I think the Glen may be set in Mississippi, maybe? Seeing as how Yo-Yo wanted to go to Memphis, I’d assume they are somewhere close to Memphis to take a Grey Hound or something. I’m probably also only thinking this because the actor that plays Isaac (J. Alphonse Nicholson) was also in the show P-Valley which is set in Mississippi and the setting of the Glen reminds me of that a bit 😭😭💀
Accoridng to info on the movie they say it takes place in the south but the palm trees in the movie almost seems as if it is in California, and some parts of the neighborhood in the movie remind of compton California.
@@nunugirlswag109 Tyrone is definitely in LA, the whole aura of his setting feels just like LA
@@AM-fb4pb right and if you listen closely, when Tyron wakes up you hear Big Boy on the radio (92.3) who happens to be in LA. That was my main conformation that he’s in LA
@@nunugirlswag109 exactly! The real ones know where Big Boy resides
This was not a 70s to early 80s period piece. This was current day. They mentioned Blockchain, Bitcoin & Bitcoin being a scam, making it present day. Visiting some of those neighborhoods is like going back in time. I personally grew up in the Philly version of one of those places. I left at 18 & went back 20 years later to visit & it was a damn time warp. As I drove around, I noticed everyone who was still there was still doing the same shit they were doing 20 years ago & nothing changed. All of the stores & shops looked exactly the same & nothing new was built over those 20 years. The internet wasn't even a thing in that part of Philly when I went back there. The biggest change was all of the stores & shops were owned & run by Asians instead of Black Americans like they were when I left. Nobody I asked knew or cared why that was the case either. However, when I went downtown nearly everything looked totally different & brand new.
Did anyone notice how Yoyo was the ONLY one during the car scene that DIDN'T get controlled by the commands. So was she the only one there that WASN'T a clone?🤔
Yup.
Great film, With someone who has locs but has used relaxers for so many years, it hit home.... defo things hidden in plain sight!
Low key was happy as heck, when Yo-Yo tricked them in the end with her Afro!! She smart!!
This movie is great! When the 3 main characters came out of the underground thru the strip club the secret door was some lockers. The two lockers belong to Unique and Dominique. Then when the DJ is alerted to stop them he scrolls down his playlist and one of the artists was Raheem the Dream(an ATL strip club rap legend)...Who mentions in a few songs about twin freaks Unique and Dominique! Thats a deep easter egg 😂
This movie to the 2020s will be what, They Live was to the 80s!
Or Repo Man.
Why do you think the projects are called.... well, the PROJECTs. We've been an experiment for a long time.
I did not catch the SpongeBob Easter egg and the Rodney king one either THANK YOU
The homeless man kinda reminded me of snowfall .. he knew the whole time but only way to get freedom is just accept it and lose your mind . Same with Franklin
If the movies Undercover Brother and Groundhog Day had a child, out would pop They Cloned Tyrone. Very enjoyable movie, quite a nice surprise!
Yeah yeah, solid mixture for a great movie
This film is a Masterpiece 10/10
Good movie. I'm always amazed by British actors playing U.S. black people flawlessly.
That chicken scene reminded me of that Popeyes Chicken sandwich. People were acting silly as fuck behind that sandwich.
and it was overhyped lol
Loved it all! Crazy this could be a true story disguised as science fiction 👀
I love the methods they used to film the movie, it had a nice rough/grainy style that added to the environments perfectly.
The characters meshed together well and felt believable. I like how they weren’t dumbed down like most movies try to make their characters - they each had a lot of shining moments where they really grew on me as a team that was slowly uncovering the mystery and helping eachother.
I loved the movie and it definitely has replay value in my opinion.
Reality sold as fiction 💯
They live
The Matrix
Equilibrium
And more
It’s like they make movies and people think everything’s fake because it is a movie. Ideas come from somewhere.
Art imitates life
The beginning art shows you, "the white man will put it right in your face & smile.
One has to be blind asf or guilty of their own prejudice to miss anything . This movie was spot on with everything we've seen throughout the years etc
This was the best conspiracy, black Sci fi thriller since get out in my opinion. A little more on the nose but definitely original and enjoyable. I want more black casts and micies in this genre
Like From and the Sheriff on that show
Love this review! Just subscribed. Totally agree with everything. Found it so interesting in the testing labs how they showed the use of watching something (tiktok/Instagram), music control(radio) and good (whats in our products/what we're allowed to purchase) etc
The song at the end was the cherry on top for me. I spent the entire film humming it and I said to my husband they have to use the song somewhere. So when I heard the song They cloned Tyrone it made my day.
That song came out in the late '90s maybe early 2000s is called you better call Tyrone from Erykah Badu
@@ArrogantGoddess u paid more attention to me, when it got to the end I tuned out when the song played
@@smiffenwesson2281That's their point.
They got the original Erykah Badu to REDO the song specifically for the movie theme.
If you listen she saying CLONE TYRONE and even the lyrics are different to match the movie.
That was dope as hell whoever thought to contact her to even see if she would do it.
It’s just something about the word used to control the clones that really stuck out
Good point that could be an Easter egg to search and research on its meaning or if it was a historical event or place
Rodney king middle name was Glenn
Ohhhhh shiiiiiittttt. GREAT catch
CHICAGO, DETROIT & CALIFORNIA REMEMBER THEM PLACES
It may have been weird and wacky to you because you are vastly removed from the narrative of any of the characters and environment of this instant classic movie that puts the agenda meant for so called black people,in OUR faces. While it is a cute campy movie for you,its is REALITY and a dam F...ed up one at that. For me it is a call to for massive CHANGE!!It brought tears to my eyes as i am about 99.9 percent sure it did not for you.
Honestly I don’t how but from when he first time he tried to give her the sandwich I knew she wasn’t real Thought he might be imagining her great reveal of her not existing every time he was in his home I so badly wanted him open that door it’s just how could you go days only hearing a person you live with i wouldn’t be able to
That's only because he's been cloned, he only remembers seeing her because he's programmed. It's a continuous simulation for him.
You kinda missed the mark with spongebob…the point is that they used SpongeBob as a cartoon in subliminally program us to thing a certain way. They out it right in our face …especially the fact that Espsteins island is the address to spongebobs pineapple.
I completely did not pick up on that point about MJ
great catch!
Cool little Easter egg, but at the end when Tyrone comes out of the store, on the wall you can see an anaconda malt liquor poster from black dynamite
Ahhh nice spot!
Black Dynamite, Us, Sorry To Bother You, and Atlanta had a 4-way clone.
No doubt, lots of similar elements
"Please pass the Tabasco"???? Oh dear boy. We don't eat Tabasco in the hood. We eat straight up Frank's Hot sauce!!! I hate going to a restaurant and asking for hot sauce and being told "I'm sorry, we don't have hot sauce. But we have Tabasco sauce" - Tobasco is no substitute for Hot Sauce!!!
😂😂 I have failed the comments sections
Nah I'm on Houston and down here we got Hot Sauce and then we got Tabasco and everyone got their choice. So almost every restaurant (white or black) has to keep both Tobassco and then another regular hot sauce so you can pick which one you want.

The reveal of Fontaine’s mother was huge. We can’t be complacent and predictable. We have to care enough to open the door and verify. We have to hold corporations accountable for poisoning us. The ending was not as satisfying as everything up to the town destroying the lab, but the movie is so good it doesn’t matter.

By far one the best movies on Netflix it is a must see. It's exactly like content creator said it's nothing like what you would expect. Imagine hood movies, sci-fi movies, comedy movies and mystery movies came together and had a baby 😂 this is what you get. The creators did a spectacular job making this movie it's well put together and I'm sure will become if not already an instant classic. Remember Popeyes chicken sandwich 2-3years ago had a lot of people mainly in the hood going crazy being violent. The line inside and drive thru line was down the street long 😮 and when Popeyes ran out of chicken sandwiches all hell broke loose. There is a line of CZcams and TikTok videos about this.
this movie is incredible. it reminds me of a 21st century They Live where true reality is exposed...more of a documentary in sci fi form.
This is a great comparison
People say the chicken reminds them of Undercover Brother but the first thing that came to my mind was The Boondocks
Ahhh yeah yeah, that one too!
This film is intended to make you look objectively into the current status or conditions of the “hood.” That’s the reason there’s no specification on what “hood” it is or where it’s at because “news flash!” They’re all laid out the same. Don’t believe me? Majority of black neighborhoods have a layout of the following things. Gas stations on most corners, liquor stores on the other corners, of course chicken spots and last but most important “churches.” I’m willing to bet in anyone on here that in they’re very city the black neighborhoods have more church homes than any other part of town. This isn’t by chance it’s a economic blueprint for poverty. Ever wonder why black neighborhoods don’t have many black own businesses? Notice on the film everyone in the “Glen” is trying to hustle just to make it. Woman of the Night, a Pimp and a Jackboy/DBoy. This is everything you already know but much like the film you don’t question why because you’re playing your role. The culture, the beliefs and way of life are all tampered to condition you…
Can say more but iykyk….
Great film btw and know I didn’t make it 😂
This movie is almost similar to the 1974 movie "Dark Town Strutters" because in that movie they were cloning babies and the women were getting pregnant without having sex.
Perhaps my cultural connection gives me a different perspective, but my rating would have been 9-9.5. Between the original Blk humor and the conspiritoral aspects of the movie, I found the movie's genius so Jordan Peele-esq. Jordan Peele, being my favorite Blk sci-fi writer, personifies originality in that he manages to tap into a relatable Twilight Zone for Blk viewers. In the past, movies with black themes often are of characatures of Blk people rather than real people which I see as insulting. Up until "They Cloned Typrone," I could not have imagine anyone else who could have come up with such an authentic conceptualization of a real Blk sci-fi movie without going over the top.
Just watched it an typically we all can pick up quick on what and why something is happening in a movie but truthfully this one STUMPED ME 😂😂 I was utterly confused, engaged, lost, highly interested the whole entire time 😂
I was hooked from the beginning of the movie where they showed the white guy watching and smiling. That sent chills down my spine. Awesome movie. Very well put together
Jack bowers as The Man
