- I was contacted by an Elderly family that needed some help cleaning their yard. I loaded up the stump grinder and headed over there to help them out and I had an Angry Karen show up complaining I was making too much noise. She threatened to call the cops on me and she was the one trespassing.

noise can be extremely aggravating if you dont know when it will end, but he did tell her 4 stumps, which does give a duration.

As long as you're abiding by noise and time regulations, ignore her. if she keeps showing up where you're working, just call the police. She's harassing you. Since you know where she lives (because she claims you won't do work for her), file a complaint with the police in that area. Tell them you're concerned for your safety.

it might very well be, but cops have to do the paperwork anyway on this kind of stuff, because they always take some kind of record of things going on, they also respond to every call, even the pointless or stupid ones, and they don't like when people waste their time on dumb things like this.

The best way to deal with this type of person is to ignore her and continue working without any 4:08 communication with them. Pretend they are invisible and do not extend any energy by explaining anything to them.

Exactly. Were I live we have a noise ordinance that says a person has the right to make noise until 10:00 pm, Then, it's time to be quiet.
You can easily get a restraining order. She's definitely cracked.
It’s up to a judge to award a restraining order. She hasn’t threatened or harmed him. She’s just annoyed him - twice. It’s doubtful any judge would grant an OOR. If courts awarded OORs just for annoying people, I’d easily have at least a hundred people restrained from getting near me.

I agree. Something is a tad off with her. I would think about filing for a restraining order... Fear of physical harm, lost wages, and danger to herself and others by entering a work zone without protective equipment.

The Best way to handle this person, and others like her, is to completely ignore her & keep on working. They're drama seeking individuals & the more you engage the worse it gets. If she becomes confrontational simply call police. If it becomes habitual behavior, file stalking & harassment charges & get a restraining order.
She's nosy ,she's rude, she's aggressive. I would be very wary of her the less contact the better
so would anyone defending their neighborhood from perceived nuisance noise. she should have given him time to finish, then filed a police report if he pursued other work, at minimum to document if he did in fact exceed local law regarding noise complaint

I love it, my neighbors that live across a river from my home were complaining about the noise as I was compacting the ground on a Saturday at 10am in Germany.
I said , sorry guys, I have to do this now, weather's good, do something else today, will get much louder if I start compressing the bricks as well.
Guess who was back at 4pm as is startet my compacter to finish off my 50qm bricks. I gave the guy "the look" a bud in one hand, a beer in the other and one hand on the machine - compacting the shit out of it.
Don't discuss, be short and precise, don't be rude and continue. If you break the law, fine, they have a point. Anything else is just a waste of time

I noticed she mentioned their are children sleeping. If they are her children and she left them alone that is called child endangerment and in some states child abuse. I am also a landscaper, we deal with people like this as well. I sarcastically tell them that I will put the machine in quiet mode, and continue working.

Honestly the only thing for you to do is just to ignore her. Go about your business just like it's none of her business which it isn't. Also most communities have sound laws in effect to keep noise down between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Other than that you're good to go. So if she want to call the police let her. What are they going to do? Come out and tell her to mind her own business?
Your best bet was to ignore her. When you interacted with her you frustrated yourself. Therefore potentially putting yourself at risk of injuring yourself or others while continuing to work while being distracted by your frustration.
