I listened to this number the other week, and it was the first time that I had a real appreciation of what a truly outstanding singer Mary Hopkin was in her heyday.
Too True. The writers of this hit were prolific songwriters in the 60s and 70s. Their songs are played daily today on various golden hits radio stations. Yet are virtually unknown. Perhaps TV shows like Stars in their eyes, and so called talent shows put paid to the need to have original music to be successful in the eyes of the public.
I've had the 45 of this song since it showed up at my radio station in late '72. I never did see any photos of her until today. Her beauty matches her voice and the song perfectly. Thank you, Mary!
I Loved hearing this song after decades.I went to boarding school in england and that's when I first saw Mary Hopkins eurovision song. Brings back lots of memories.
Our high school song back in the 1970s was "those were the days my friend". At the time I didn't know who sang it, only that I didn't like it. But 50 years later I realize that Mary Hopkin wrote other songs that are very nice to listen to.
loved Mary Hopkins loved her voice thought she was gorgeous as well, also loved Dana (went out with her cousins for 3 yrs) also loved Clodagh Rogers was a great era for female singers and of course the iconic Cilla Black my all time favourite singer and 50 yrs on still feel the same
Good song, for some reason I don't remember hearing it before. "Those were the days is a favorite of mine and from looking that up I came across this song by Mary Tomkin.
I happened to view this lovely song as it was being rendered by Mary Hopkin in the 1970 Eurovision song Contest...! And how charming are both the singer and her song! At once praiseworthy!
A CZcamsr used this song and various other songs similar to watch this guy break into a business and then end up trapped there all while he’s breaking down a door into a closet that leads to nowhere when he’s trapped it was glorious
What a fun and uplifting song Carl, not sure if I heard this one before, but I sure enjoyed it! Terrific images too, she's a lovely 60's lady! Cheers! ... FrAnK
Dana won the Eurovision song contest with All Kinds of Everything, receiving 32 points. Mary was runner-up with this lovely song and received 28 points. Call me biased but I preferred Mary's song. Mary Hopkin said she felt humiliated singing this song and hated it. Well, we didn't, honey!
A nice song from a time when the Eurovision Songstest was still worth watching. However I have that I liked the winner "All kinds of everything" by Dana even better.
Knock Knock.....it is meeeeee :))) Well 1970 I was 4 years old, so also if I have viewed the song contest, I do not remember which place she made :)) Do you know how many points Germany gave ? :)) Pretty Good One. Thank you for sharing. All 12 Points Up !!!
@Recordbhoy Sorrym what a baffling comment for you to make? what illusions are those? I have tried looking for a previous comment I may have made but can't find one....
I think your player is slightly out of phase - when viewed as an X-Y plot, this is clearly mono, but not a straight line. But thanks for putting it up at all though! A cheerful song (whatever the words say).

I really wish they could still make music as happy and nice as this these days..:) :)
mark pulling you’re looking at Mission impossible (sadly). Mary Hopkin such a melodious voice. I’ll never forget her rendition of Donna Donna.
listen to Caro Emerald
It's supposed to be a sad song.
Ironically, I love this song because the filmmaker in me thinks it would be PERFECT to set to a scene of a character snapping and going postal.
A wonderful song sung by a lovely and beautiful woman with an incredible voice.
I have listened to this song for for going on 43 years now.
I listened to this number the other week, and it was the first time that I had a real appreciation of what a truly outstanding singer Mary Hopkin was in her heyday.
What a beautiful singer and beautiful voice ......
I’m 26 year old Chinese… this music is amazing, making me in great mood. ESC was amazing that period
There's something particularly compelling about her voice/production that brings back that era with greater clarity than other more iconic sounds.
I love de song
Good old times, please come back to our bad world. We miss those days.
Heard this song hundreds of times way back in 1972. Brings back wonderful memories...
Pretty song, beautiful girl, lovely memories. Thank you Mary
No one writes melodious pop songs like this anymore. Mores a pity as this is a gem.

I'm crying right now
This much beauti is illegal
Clean and pure music without use of any kind of vulgar words.
yes, and a clean and pure beauty to go with it.
@@jayseaem until god knows what century introduced profanity in the media
You people are redulous. "Vulgarity" has been in music forever. You what sucks? Censorship
Jon: I honestly don’t think there’s much censorship in music now days. Just look at WAP…
A True Artist. The music is good & you can hear every word she sings
can't stop listening !
oh good, it will take up my views nicely (smile)
Wow at 00m37 this Mary is from the pamphlet delivered to me when booking seats for coming Mary Hopkin Show at Osaka Expo 1970!!
An enchantingly melodic voice, almost haunting in nature, conjuring up images of a vanished-era.
Love it. Makes one so happy inside :)
loved Mary Hopkins loved her voice thought she was gorgeous as well, also loved Dana (went out with her cousins for 3 yrs) also loved Clodagh Rogers was a great era for female singers and of course the iconic Cilla Black my all time favourite singer and 50 yrs on still feel the same

I remember watching and listening to this video back in 2011 by my music teacher back in my elementary school.
Everlasting beauty of the person and the song!
I happened to view this lovely song as it was being rendered by Mary Hopkin in the 1970 Eurovision song Contest...! And how charming are both the singer and her song! At once praiseworthy!
Thanks for posting this "PURE " stereo version... love Mary, APPLE and 1968 to 1970... Cheers.
lovely happy song from our mary.
2nd place to our Dana in the 1970 Eurovision song contest!
Both were slightly overestimated by the juries. Spain and France deserved more points that year.
Dana tops! But good runner up😀
This was always a great favorite for me,knock, knock.
Don't believe living this masterpiece of all Time 😅😅😅❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hadn't realised what a beautiful woman Mary is❤

Helt underbart.Jag bara njuter av denna röst. Jag är född 1950, då var det rock, men idag, vad go musik man har missat.
Artista: Mary Hopkin.
Canción: Knock Knock Who's There.
Fecha de lanzamiento: 1970. (163.063 vis.)
love it
In an ordinary year she would have won the Eurovision contest. But then there was Dana and All Kinds of Everything.
Both great songs for different reasons but looking back being 18 probably won it for Dana
This was the better song
A mi edad en ese tiempo.. ahora su voz y sus canciones me traen muchos recuerdos..
love the HQ !!!
Thanks, i only like to upload videos with a good audio quality...... (HQ)

@Robert11xyz Agreed. Iike Hay Jude. I heard This at Concert OSaka Expo Hall and then until today she sang "Take off your CLOTHES and Come inside!"
entered Cashbox Dec 2, 1972
Strange as it was released in the UK in 1970.....

¿Podría ser este amor que habla?
Me causa cierta Nostalgia esta Cancion. :(
Nice job is this a full quality version from the Apple box set
i have listened to both versions of this classic song and liv maessons version is by far in my opinion much better
best song in 1970 if only belgium didnt ruin it by giving ireland 9 of their 10 pts
I agree !!
I remember when coca-cola used this tune for one of their commercials.
Pretty
Yeah she sure is....
DeadFlorist Yes, but Clodagh Rogers had the edge!
Why has this song never been mixed into stereo? My 45 says "stereo", but it too is in mono.
"Take off your COAT"
This 'n didn't make it to America, though Temma Hrbour did.
It did, but only charted to an embarassing #92 toward the end of 1972.
knock knock whos there? nonya. nonya who? noyna business
Mary revealed years later she hated this song for being so commercial. She was a folk artist at heart, not a pop singer.
え
@@user-xw8gi4os6e "Huh?"
She was a bit of alright.
I can't find it on Spotify :(

Mary hated this song. I actually think it’s one of her best.
This rendition is long way away from Liv Maeson's superb performance.
