  • 2004 Country Coach Intrigue. The Avionics entry door seemed a good idea at the time...BUT...Definitely not the easiest thing to repair. A very bad hinge design makes it near impossible to access the hinges should they ever wear out...And they WILL !!! Being impossible to remove the hinges without removing the entire door frame assembly, Im going to show you what it took...and what I came up with to get our door back in its place.

I needed to add that I had a viewer point out that yes I did get the door manufacturer incorrect. I was mistaken as ours is a 2004 and they did not start using the Avionics door manufacturer until 2005. So I just wanted to leave a comment here that yes I did get the door manufacturer incorrect for 2004 however, I had already uploaded the video before I found that information out. So sorry guys.

Thanks, A.J. This video gives me the confidence to update our door when we get home. I have a full machine shop to build anything I need but was afraid to take the door apart because I just couldn't figure out how it was assembled. If you need parts made I'd gladly help since you've saved me on several repairs on my Coach. (2004 CC Intrigue Suite Sensation #11705)

Thank you !!!!…..I think the full length bushing would be the total best support there could be ( as long as the housings in good shape all is well ) I’m still on the fence as far as bronze or poly…..I actually hope I don’t do this again….Unless it’s to help some else out.

I'm so glad you didn't have to remove that whole door frame again just over that little switch.
I think a full length bronze bushing would've been ideal for those bushings.
Great job on this, AJ. I can see why you were ready to just set the thing on fire. Lol.

Done on the cheap ya know. I think a full length also for sure. Hopefully I never have to do this again anytime soon !!!! The material would’ve been a little bit pricey for a full length bronze tube but for sure would be the idea treatment.

That has to be a very gratifying repair. A job well done!

It’s a relief to see it close properly. Nice and smooth.

Fantastic job there AJ! Totally agree, try and fix things yourself, ifin then you can’t,well I guess you’re stuck finding a shop or somebody who can rip you a new one 👀 oh, sorry I meant someone that can repair the problem. Unless you find a guy on you tube that has all the answers and shares his failed attempts with the rest of us. Sure wish I could find that “guy” 😩

Thank you for sharing this project! I appreciate your attention to detail! I have 2006 CC and think the soor is slightly different. However with this info I feel I can take this on.

Thank you. I did mistakenly think our door was Avionics….but it was not. Those started in 2005 up. So yours may actually be the Avionics which would look slightly different. I can’t remember the manufacturer of ours now…someone commented what it was….But I am SOO happy now with the way it closes so much better now. No more SLAMMING!!!!!

Thank you. No we did not attend the rally and actually have never been to a rally. Most of them are hard for us to attend with schedules as my wife is a principal at one of our local schools. We hope to some day !!!! I really appreciate your time watching. Means a great deal to us !!!

Thanks for the video! I have an 03 Allure with what appears to be the same hinge system and while it is still functional, it’s getting a little irritable. I won’t ever attempt to fix it but it’s good to know that someone, somewhere could get it done with the help of your video🙏

While it was not hard to do…it was quite a big job. CC definitely knew how to use Sika-Flex and tons of it. If it’s got a gap…Fill it in with Sika-Flex !!!!

  • @kenhart4084

How did you hold the bronze bushing held in place for they did not fall to the lowest spot in the hinge?

    • @ALongLongWaytoGO
      @ALongLongWaytoGO  Před 3 měsíci

I stacked them in. There’s just a small amount of the hinge assembly that the pin is not supported on. Also reason we used a soft material. The bushing if need be can rotate in the assembly as well as the pin rotating in the bushing. I think if I was to do it again ( which I hope not ) I would probably do either a solid bushing or Teflon insert.
Thank you for watching. Means a huge amount to us.
