  • The late film critics Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert created a television show that made them household names, and made their “two thumbs up” a coveted endorsement. Author and film critic Matt Singer looks at their unique role in Hollywood history in his new book, “Opposable Thumbs: How Siskel & Ebert Changed Movies Forever.”

I miss those two SOOOOO much… they turned me on to movies during the blockbuster era that I never would have seen and I am forever grateful to them for turning me on to widescreen

Having watched almost every S&E episode available on CZcams in the last several years I found this interview to be amazingly insightful. Thank you for posting! You earned a new subscriber

Gene and Roger have meant so much to me over the last few years of becoming a movie buff. I fell down a rabbit hole of At the Movies that I still haven’t gotten out of. I take a lot of their reviews very seriously. They introduced me to my favorite movie Fargo. When Matt’s book was announced, I kept track of the days until it was released and I pre-ordered it the day before and got it on released day and I absolutely loved every bit of it. I spoke to Matt shortly after I read it and he couldn’t have been nicer. I’m hoping to visit Chicago for either EbertFest or go to the Siskel Center

Somebody has to establish themselves as a CZcams Siskel and Ebert… I realize there is rotten tomatoes but that is so much noise - I need more signal, which is what those two provided
