Heaven is an unreleased song recorded on May 26th 1985 at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California. Although no further work seems to have been done on it following the initial session, the song was later considered for the planned musical The Dawn (along with God Is Everywhere, Others Here With Us, All My Dreams, When The Dawn Of The Morning Comes, Crucial and The Cocoa Boys), but the musical was ultimately abandoned, and the song was never intended for any of Prince’s other late-1986 album projects.
Miss him every day. Prince changed everything for me a teenager. The way I thought about music and my never ending explorations of it were due to this man.

When I play for my gen z son or my girl who's into the HITS lol, I get disappointing response. When you know you know to me means, Prince fans understand the man's search for the funk. Wow! I never knew that. But that doesn’t say much, though, because I don’t think I qualify as a very competent person when it comes to knowing or understanding differences in culture, or when it comes to American culture having any effect on other cultures. For example, I remember being blown away, being in shock, being mesmerized when I saw a Harley Davidson motorcycle dealership in France when I was there in 2005. Couldn’t believe it. Eventually, though, it made sense because of WWII. And I still can’t believe that Saddam Hussein’s favorite song was Lionel Richie’s “All Night Long.” Crazy. Thank you very much for your post. I feel that much more connected to the world because of you and what you said! How do you know he’s in heaven? Only saints go to heaven directly, the unclean believers go to purgatory for cleansing fire then released eventually; others to hell. I would be very surprised if he’s heaven and remaining in purgatory. We could pray for his soul nevertheless but definitely we cannot assume that person goes to heaven just because we wish that person in heaven because the judgement of God is personal to each person’s inner and outer life and Jesus is strict about sin. “For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:20) - Is Prince even a righteous singer?

There was a pervasive cynicism to Around the World in a Day that this doesn't fit anyway. Pop Life and Paisley Park do the trick. This track is joyous and I hear Ice Cream Castles, Love on a Blue Train, and Pop Life within it. Great epic track like All My Dreams that feels like a summary of Prince. Love it!

@@christophedernbach9751 No this song was recorded in 1985 during that period of AWIAD way before Parade. Then again with Prince this could have been recorded earlier, for example he recorded Raspberry Beret during the time of 1999 so yeah.
This was from May 1985 a few weeks after ATWIAD was released so even tho this sounds like that era - it woulda showed up on Parade if at all

One of my Uncle's favorite outtakes from back in the day. i never heard this my first time hearing and i truly love it the sounds in back ground prince knew how create music that longlasting for ever i coun't believe its been 8 years since left us on this i can't get over that it's not right or fair.
Much of this music was recorded between 84/86. If you listen to the mid 80’s albums especially around the world in a day and Parade, you can pretty much hear this sound. He was constantly in the studio because he was not into drink, drugs or clubbing or anything like that so when not touring, he practically lived in the studio.
I like it better when the record starts late. Have loved this song 4 30 plus years.

Well, this is clearly not one of Prince's better moments, and one can hear why he wanted to keep it under wraps. But it also shows the permanent creative potential that surrounded Prince even in his weakest moments, compared to many other so-called musicians and stars whose (especially HIT-) songs were written for them by some often highly paid outside authors and songwriters/ghostwriters (like Prince). Another aspect is that Prince was writing songs & recording demos by the dozen at a time, so It's just natural that not nearly every piece of the plethora of songs he intoned was and could be a revelation. It would be a little over the top to demand something like that - even from an obvious (certified) genius like Prince. One just has to take a look at the official output he left for us. But it's always more than just a pleasure to hear a new old song feathered & jamsessioned by the Purple, Peach, Cherry, White & Black one! All hail to Prince the modern day Beethoven.
Prince was a brilliant guitarist and multi-instrumentalist, a gifted singer (with an 5+ octave range), a highly creative songwriter, an outstanding composer and arranger and also his own producer. In total, there are said to be 27 different instruments that Prince played. Officially, he left behind 39 studio albums, 97 singles and 6 films - of which his debut Purple Rain (1984) won him the Oscar for best film music. And in Paisley Park there is a vault with well over a thousand unreleased recordings. This should include, among other things, recordings made during intimately small jam sessions after his concerts.
Just a little question: What exactly did the other guy do TO DESERVE his status as a superstar (except for stroking his fantasized dangling nuts on stage, followed by some high-bitched screeches and squeals every few seconds but only on a 3.5 octaves level as officially revealed by his vocal trainer)?

The other was a seasoned performer who from childhood performed in some of the most fantastic concerts known to man. In the beginning along with his brothers chose the right music at the right time which is still played today. I give Prince his props don't get me wrong, but both were supremely talented in their own right. It was their time.

cut but honestly we will never know? Prince just had a signature sound and style to his music especially around the time of 1999 and Purple Rain in my opinion that is very reminiscent of this sound.
Heaven by Prince was made at Sunset Sound May 26, 1985 in Hollywood according to the site Prince Vault. But I don't know how accurate the date is because it does sound like it could've been made in 1982.
