Power AirFryer XL Review

  • LINK to Power AirFryer XL: amzn.to/2xamYe2 Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing the Power AirFryer XL. This is the 5.3 Quart size in black, it also comes in 3.4 Quart Size and you can choose from black or red. Like most airfryers, this one works by circulating hot air like a convection oven. This unit is 1700 watts. It measures 14.5 inches tall, 12.5 inches wide and 14.9 inches deep. The power cord is 45 inches long. Most people buy air fryers as an alternative to deep frying. You can make french fries and fried chicken in this unit using no oil or a small amount, a teaspoon or two. Hold the handle and pull out the basket. Slid the guard forward and push the red button down to release the non-stick fry basket. This is the food divider insert that slides down into the basket so you can cook two different types of food at the same time. To attach the fry basket, lower it into the outer basket and it locks. The baskets feel heavier than other air fryers I’ve reviewed. Slide it back into the unit tilting up a little. It doesn’t want to go in straight. In the back, there is an air outlet vent, don’t block it while using the unit, this is not something you want to put up against a wall. The Air Intake Vent is on top. Make sure there’s plenty of space around the airfryer when using. A recipe book is included. You can use an oven safe dish to cook in this unit.
Here’s the power button on the digital control panel. When you press power once, the default temperature is 370 degrees and cooking time is 15 minutes. Press the power button again to start cooking. Use the + and - buttons on the left to change cooking time one minute at a time or hold it down to change quickly. Use the + and - buttons on the right to change the cooking temperature 10 degrees Fahrenheit at a time. Holding it down will change the temperature quickly. The temperature can be set from 180 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
The M is for preset options. There are seven presets for french fries, roasting, shrimp, bake, chicken, steak and fish. Each preset has a time and temperature listed in the manual.
You don’t have to preheat the unit for cooking.
To turn the unit off during cooking, press the power button. The red heat light turns off and the blue fan icon spins for 20 seconds.
Before using, wash the outer and fry baskets with warm soapy water, both are dishwasher safe. Wipe the inside of the unit with a cloth.
Don’t fill the outer basket with oil. There is a max line on the basket so don’t fill above that.
We’ll cook french fries and fried chicken in this unit. The chicken was crispy and juicy. The french fries were cooked but uneven.
If you want to try out this Power Airfryer XL,click on the link above. I hope you found this review helpful. Subscribe for more reviews and I’ll see you next time. Thanks for watching :)

My cooker is now redundant, I use this AirFryer every day, I’ve cooked breaded fish, rump steak, pork chops, putting roast potatoes in with it all, chicken, all turned out lovely. I haven’t used the presets just used my own judgment, but I always pre heat on full for 5 mins first. Thanks from 🇬🇧 UK x

I have this exact fryer and OMG I love it. For the fries I have found that they cook faster then in this video so I check sooner then recommended and I also spray with extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil spray when I turn them over once and they turn out so crunchy and good, make sure you shake them good. I also spray the friend chicken , onion rings, mozzarella sticks, sausages, hamburgers , wings after I have turned them over it seems to give them an awesome crunch and helps the cooking process. Always use a thermometer to check meats

Just got my air fryer. Made chicken legs and fries so far. For the fries I blanched them in salt water for five minutes first and then drained, and patted them dry. Tossed them in olive oil and some seasoning before air frying. They came out great. I also tossed them half way through instead of just shaking them. Type of potato must make a difference as well. I used red potatoes. Will try golden and russet soon. Chicken came out fantastic as well.

  • @MrWillyboi1
    @MrWillyboi1 Před 5 lety +1

Great unit for french fries, but you need to have the right technique. First cut your potatoes into fries and briefly boil them for 3-4 mins, then drain them and add a tbsp of oil + salt and any other seasoning such as paprika. By boiling them first will make them absorb the seasoning much better and will help achieve a crispy outside and a fluffy inside. Then toss and put in the air fryer. The key to have great fries is to toss them every 3-4 minutes to ensure you get an even golden crispiness for the whole batch, thus avoiding ending up with uncooked and burns chips at the end.

I bought a Power AirFryer XL in April 2019 and fell in love with it at first use and have used it nearly every day since. Fast forward to October 2019, and suddenly the fan/motor noise isn't as loud (which you'd think would be nice, but clearly indicates a problem), things aren't as browned when the timer runs out, and when I remove the basket from the machine to shake it, the motor keeps running. I've tried cleaning it, but it made no difference. I was stunned to see it only has a 60 day warranty, and even if it were still under warranty, it would cost me $19.99 to get the company's warranty service. I will be replacing this air fryer in the near future (Black Friday sales, anybody?), but certainly not with another ASOTV Power AirFryer product. My next air fryer will be purchased based on deep research and not just price and how many stars it got on the seller site.

Instead of deep frying, grilling or oven baking chicken, I can use the air fryer and cook them in half the time without heating up the whole house. I even made a fall apart tender beef roast. The most important thing to remember, it is okay to mess up and have the recipe flop. Hubby and I have done that as we tried recipes from books, from online and ones we modified from "regular" recipes. It is trial and error, you learn from your mistakes. Bacon, you need to have something to weight the bacon strips down, put a wire mesh rack on top so they won't get blown all over the fryer. Put down parchment paper to help with mess, but make sure that you spread the food out or the paper can be pulled out from the pull of the air. When we made cookies, I just put them close enough to the edge to keep the paper from moving and from covering the cookies so they could bake. If you are baking something that needs to have vents cut into it, do so after you turn it over. We learned the hard way when we made Stromboli to cut the vent after we turned it over so the cheese wouldn't melt out and make a mess.

Is this only for air frying foods? Or does it bake and grill as well like the phillips brand?

I have this air fryer. I found putting anything on 400 is just not good. If a recipe calls for 400 I put mine on 390. If I have to cook something a little longer it's better than burning it

So what is considered the best air fryer on the market currently? I bought the one from bed bath bc of the 20% power air fryer but Im worried if its the best one when compared to the phillips? I want something that will last. If i can get a phillips for 50 bux more & its better and will last longer its worth the extra money considering the power air fryer as seen on tv from bed bath only had a 60 day money back....

I have a Power one, we generally use fries we bought from the grocery store that are partly cooked. If you used that type and put it on the set temps and for the suggested time it would have been too long and have burned them. A lot of cooking/baking/frying in the air fryer is trial and error. What works in one brand has to be on a different temp and time than another one. When half way done, we take our fries out, used a wooden spoon to stir them up so they are more evenly mixed. They come out really, really good. Pork chops, chicken, hamburgers, Stromboli, baked potatoes and much more.

Hi Kelvin, it could that your fries required less time to cook. The cooking time depends on the thickness of the fries and type of fries. Try cooking them for less time and I hope that works :)

Good review, the only thing I would have a problem with, and it is really just personal likes, is to use olive oil. We want to get away from the trans-fat and such oils and olive oil does great for us, not a strong flavor and a spritzer was in the box with the Power XL 5.3 qt. We love ours, tossed the deep fryer out two days later and don't regret it.

The power air fryer oven is better because if you put the french fries in the basket the basket moves and rotate so the fries won't stick
