Bart Baker Quit YouTube - Now He’s Trying To Get Big on the Chinese Internet

- Bart Baker, former CZcams celebrity, starts off most mornings by screaming in mangled Chinese.
For the past few years, Bart’s bread and butter was edgy parody music videos, mocking stars like Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift. Good videos easily racked in tens of millions of views; a million views was a dud.
But when CZcams started de-prioritizing vulgar videos in order to keep family-friendly advertisers happy, Bart’s income took a massive plunge.
So when he got a mysterious email from a company promising to catapult him to stardom in China, he figured he’d give it a shot. A few videos later, he had millions of followers, in a country he’d never even visited.
Now, Bart’s days start with live chat and song sessions with his millions of Chinese followers on Kwai, a Chinese social media app. Then, his Chinese manager sends him a Chinese song, which Bart translates into English, with the help of Google Translate. Hours later, Bart’s English version of the track is burning up the top ranks in Douyin (China’s version of TikTok).
Bart sees immense potential in the Chinese market, and has already announced that he is quitting CZcams. Meanwhile, his Chinese manager is concerned that Bart’s American persona could be trouble in China, if it isn’t properly handled.
VICE News met with Bart Baker in Los Angeles, and his manager in Shanghai, to see if Bart’s path might be a way forward for other struggling CZcamsrs.

Think about the $$$ - advertisers are less interested in adult-friendly content and there's no point for google to stain their reputation by allowing explicit content on their site to be monetized. The moderation of youtube is there so that they can squeeze profit out of the well behaved content creators, they don't care about you.

Ceiling yeah like etika was mentally unwell and his the people around him couldn’t do enough to save him. The job market in countries like China is very competitive and oversaturated. That's why most employees are treated like a product, not a person. And they don't complain because there are hundreds of people who could easily replace them.

His song translations are honestly pretty terrible though; as an ethnic Chinese (living in a democratic country), he uses literal translations and way too many syllables and it just ends up sounding like some bad parody from his original channel. @Puddin i’d say this discussion is pretty nuanced. If we’re talking about overall convenience and productivity then yes, technology and social media have made it easier to connect worldwide for business, pleasure, etc.
The trade offs however are pretty disturbing when you think about it! We live in a world where our natural connection to this planet and people are being slowly destroyed. Natural human Interaction is slowly becoming a thing of the past as people become more addicted to their phones. It’s come to a point where people have a hard time looking others in their eyes for long periods of time anymore. Large corporations have sued various mind tricks to get us addicted to their products and are developing new ways to essentially enslave the common man daily.
Social media while having it’s good points have essentially stripped away the average man’s individuality. Destroying our principles and creating what are pretty much talking heads and robots with hive minds that pay tribute to the miseducation of the same system that has openly admitted to wanting to depopulate the population by any means necessary.
Not to mention the true meaning and notion of God and the spiritual have been maliciously torn down and re-sutured to create a false narrative of who the almighty really is. Most of us don’t even believe in the father despite the widely accepted notion of their being powerful secret satanic societies that have run the world for the last 500+ years!
