    Thank you so much for explaining the roll up versus drop down sides. Even the manufacturers don’t explain this! One of my big questions is clear plastic vs. poly fabric for covering. Seems like poly fabric would be a lot more durable. Also, what percentage shade cloth are you using in your climate?

    Wondering if you have any insight or opinion about using a high tunnel without soil in ground and using more with raised beds etc. We are putting a high tunnel over a southern location on a level concrete pad. Any help is much appreciated!

    I was born in Arkansas but live in Pacific NW. Have you experienced tornadoes there and if so did it damage the metal structure or just ripped plastic?

      @HeiferUSA  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi. Yes, the ranch was hit by a tornado several years ago and several structures were damaged.

      Depends on your budget and space desired, but check out Farmers Friend for some good options. A caterpillar tunnel can be an affordable entry level solution.

    How do you keep the green house warm during winter

    • @HeiferUSA
      @HeiferUSA  Před rokem +2

      Great question! In the winter, the high tunnel absorbs and traps heat from sunlight. This heat is sufficient to extend our season of warm-weather crops, and to keep our cool-weather crops safe from hard freezes. Hope this helps!

      I've been told at least one whole year. If it's a field full of nasty perennial weeds, two years might be necessary.
