    Truck stops are great for anybody traveling. I've got a CRV and discovered them on my last road trip. They are better than a rest area because the bathrooms are clean, food abundant choices, and showers super cheap. There is usually a dedicated area to sleep and it's monitored for safety. A bonus is using GPS to plan your stops. Give it a try!!! 😊❤

    TSD is the best savings. I own my tractor trailer and fuel is my biggest expense. Open Roads has hella discounts. I fueled at $800 and paid the $.65 transaction fee and then they get 10% of the savings. After all that I saved $220 dollars. Absolutely amazing.

    We have been using the EFS card for over 4 years and average 12,000 miles miles with our motorhome. It’s a good program with a good company but I’ve never seen anything close to a $66 savings on 60 gallon purchase. We always go to the station with the lowest price listed in the area we are fueling.

    Diesel could be expensive but you can go maaaany more miles than with gas.
    I used to fuel my older car every 6 to 7 days no a/c. After changing for a diesel car driving even maaanyyy more km's I fill up every 3+ weeks driving with a/c on constantly. I did the math and that is one of the reasons I changed.

    • @bmused55
      @bmused55 Před rokem

      Depends on the size of your vehicle and your general usage of it. And of course where you are in the world.
      Here in the UK, for as personal car, say a Ford Mondeo, if you're not putting in the miles, Diesel normally works out more expensive as it costs more. You also have to worry about the DPF filter and the additive that typically needs refilled every 2000 miles, at a variable cost.
      If you're only travelling up to 15K miles a year, Gasoline ends up the cheaper option overall.
      But for those long distant mile munchers in big rigs like this, diesel is the obvious and only choice. A gas engine would burn too much to keep this rig going.
      In a Honda Jazz? That little 1.2lt Gas engine will beat this RV's Diesel MPG all day long.
      So, it depends :)

    Well least your smart enough to take your RV into a truck stop instead of being an asshole and trying to squeeze it into smaller gas stations. It’s hilarious when I’m making a fuel delivery to Kroger branded gas stations, QTs, or any other smaller gas station when someone feels the need to pull into a small lot and realize after its too late they shouldn’t be there. The even funnier thing is when the driver of said rv comes over and asks me to unhook all my hoses and drop boots from the ground and pull my truck and trailer out of the parking lot and come back around so they can get out 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 and then get pissy with me because I won’t move and two I refuse to help them…not my problem…if you can’t drive it you shouldn’t own it plain and simple.

    These videos that complain about fuel expenses are so lame. Your fuel expense has nothing to do with your tank size. It is all about your rig's fuel efficiency. Your big tank just means each fill up is expensive but time between fill-ups is based on fuel efficiency. I bet you thunder down the road at 70-75 mph. Drop down to 60 mph and save 10% of fuel efficiency.
    I usually get a better discount using my Costco Citi credit card that has 2-4% cash back. Open Roads is a direct debit card right to my bank account. I rarely save money with it.

    • @fuelyourwander
      @fuelyourwander  Před 11 měsíci

    • @idadho
      @idadho Před 11 měsíci

      @@fuelyourwander I use Gas Buddy to find the best prices on diesel. I can usually find fuel at a lower price than the Open Roads price. TA, Pilot, Flying J, Love's start with high prices and discount them. 10-15% off their high prices just matches the lower prices found on Gas Buddy. Today, the Open Roads prices on I84 through Idaho and east Oregon are $4.19-$4.46. I can use GasBuddy and find diesel for $3.99 to $4.19 plus save 2-4% in credit card cash back. During a 5500 miles trip from Idaho to the Great Smokies and back, Open Roads never had the best price. I've only use Open Roads twice in the past 2 years because it did have the best price. Gas Buddy has programs/apps that save even more by using their gas card.

      Open Roads is a company that negotiates fuel discounts for the trucking industry based on the volume typically consumed by it’s members. Several years ago they gave diesel RV owners an opportunity to join. A company called EFS handles the financial transactions for Open Roads members and other similar companies. The EFS card is not a credit card. You agree to allow EFS to directly access your bank account when fuel is purchased. That’s why they require a completed application. There is a very prompt and simple accounting of each transaction and a detailed statement that is generated. Note Open Roads charges a nominal fee on each transaction that is identified on the statement. I can’t state either of these companies are perfect but can say in the 4 plus years we’ve been in the program and a average of 12,000 miles per year driven in the motorhome there has never been an issue with the accounting accuracy.
