You'll need to tune to DADGAD for this bad boy.

Anybody else like me subscribe to this despite never having picked up a guitar in my life, or have any intention of learning.... but rather just to admire the sheer beauty of Pearl Jam tunes. I adore this channel.... and this is one of my favourite intros to any PJ song.
Haha thanks Gareth, that's amazing you like the channel so much as a non guitar player! You have a very Welsh name, which means you instantly must have excellent taste ;-) Diolch
Yes please! A DADGAD video would be awesome!
on its way soon :-)
The most mesmerizing riff I’ve ever heard, thank you 👍
Finally learned this in honor of Yield turning 25 yesterday. Great lesson as always, Matt :)
You’re welcome!
THANK YOU! for whatever reason the ability to play this riff has eluded me for a decade or two. you helped me finally nail it! THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! subbed for that reason alone
Jacob Gottschalk thanks Jacob and welcome!! 🤘😀
I think its one of those that makes so much sense, even slowed down.
Getting this on point note to note aint an easy task!
Thank you so much Matt!
Welcome mate!
Perfect timing! I started learning this song about a week ago and this video has helped so much. Thank you and please keep up with the songs from Yield!
happy birthday LPA cheers for what your doing.
john porter thanks John!
I´ve been trying to setup a setlist of only Pearl Jam tunes with my covers band for years. Finally, the band I´ve been with is on board to do it and I wanted to include this song so bad and I was stock into the G major chord played right before the chorus, you have just made it easy with this video, thanks.. We are located in the Mexican Caribbean but as you might know, there are bunches of Pearl Jam fans in Mexico (which is awesome considering that must people do not understand the lyrics).
Pearl Jam, Jane’s Addiction.
You have the best lessons
Thanks Max!
Yes please do a dadgad track list...lovin your work!!!
Thanks! It's in the pipeline :-)
You are the best. Still making videos you are an amazing teacher
Ah thanks man!
Awesome as always. You do such a great job on these lessons and thank you. Please do a DADGAD vid! 😀

xNimrod97x thanks mate. Honestly I’m really grateful to have 6,500 in just my first year! I also have a Patreon page which has already got subscribers supporting me so I can continue what I do here, so I think 2019 is going to be even better for the channel! 🤘

Sei fantastico!
Love your guitar man! What a beauty! Thanks for the GTF lesson.
Thanks Kevin, you're welcome!
Nice gear ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
therendra thanks V much 😀🤘
Awesome lesson. Thanks a lot. Adding the pedals info its very useful. Keep up the good work.
There’s a few tunes I’ve learnt in Dadgad, and some various open D tunings (I think) like buddy clyro opposites and Jeff Buckley last goodbye. Then I’ve used them tunings to write some of my pieces. But I never realised given to fly was in this tuning and I think I only looked at the tab years ago when I was just starting out and I was too confused.
I’m really glad I stumbled across this video, appreciate the tutorial, many thanks. I love Pearl jam, covid has been a right pain since they’ve had to cancel their last two gigs that I’ve had tickets for in Hyde park because of it. They rarely play here and I’ve missed my chance to ever see soundgarden live, RIP Chris Cornell, and I certainly don’t want to miss my chance to see Pearl jam. But yeah, thanks a million for this.
You're welcome Simon, glad you found the channel! There's another DADGAD specific video you may be interested in here too czcams.com/video/vxYN-zf0RUk/video.html
I know what you mean i had tickets to Hyde Park too, hopefully they'll be back soon!
Perfect lesson and Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful guitar.
Ahh thanks Jose, glad you liked the lesson, and i shall pass on your kind words to my guitar ;-) It really is a beauty, just had the neck reshaped (it was a bit too chunky) and i'm loving it all the more now!
@@LetsPlayAll The combination of the dark fingerboard and the light blue....I mean that contrast of colors looks awesome.Sorry for my English.
Jose Maria Casas Lentijo your English is excellent my friend! It’s got a “thin skin” paint job which I think is polyurethane, and I think the finish is “Sonic Blue”. I got it second hand and at the time was looking for a Strat with a trem and a SSS pickup config but really pleased I went for it. Superb guitar 🤘
@@LetsPlayAll Apart from the beauty I know it's a high-range expensive guitar.I do love those kind of guitars specially The Echoparks.
@@josemariacasaslentijo1588 Yes they're very high quality, that's why i don't own many brand new ones haha :-)
DADGAD tuning lesson request!
I second the motion 🙏🏽
Great lesson, thank you! This is one of my favourites PJ songs... in the Live on Two Legs version, there is an awesome guitar filling that starts at 2:22... great riffs, they sound like octaves too I guess
Awesome!
Excellent
Yes!
Top, as always
Thank you! Cheers!
omFG!
ill try it
Great tone...love your lessons! Mike’s orange Lull guitar has P90s!
Brad Taylor thanks man and yes you’re right on the p90s! Thanks for the correction 😀🤘
I am playing this with standard tuning but this is creating a non-continous feel while playing the arpeggio part because of all of the hammer ons and pull offs. This version is way better.
Awesome song to have in your locker.
It's a beaut for sure Brian! You've got an extra treat for this lesson over at Patreon too ;-)
I didn't know Louis CK teaches music. What a talented guy. :D
*Eres el mejor!!!*
Miguel Angel Seláez Aspiazu muchos gracias amigo!
Off He Goes 💚🇲🇽
At the power chords sequence at the end of the chorus, I like to end with a power chord at the 3rd fret, don’t know if it’s right or if Mike does it live, but I think it sounds really nice
So sweet!!!
Brilliant. There were so many little tweaks that I couldn't get right but this is perfect! :-) Keep up the great work, Alex.
Thanks Alex. Must have listened to that opening riff about 200 times working this out haha
Great video...new subscriber!
Thanks Steve and welcome! 🤘😀🤘
thank you, man!!
Awesome breakdown, mate!! What about that DADGAD lesson you anticipated??
thanks Roberto and yes it's been on my list for a while now! will get to it!
Jesus - no wonder I found this such a faff to play! DADGAD... I learned it in standard, then someone told me it was in open G, which got me nowhere. I like DADGAD too.
@@JDODify haha enjoy!
Nice one!
Thanks so much. What brand of Guitar is that you’re playing? I love the color.
It's a Suhr Classic (i think :-)) in Daphne Blue. Got it second hand a little while ago and it's a superbly well made guitar
Dan from That Pedal Show wants his DNA back.
haha he's my brother from another mother
Não entendi nada da explicação
Mas muito bom esse tutorial, parabéns!!!
Hello, what overdrive pedal?. Nice lesson!!!
muy leeeeennnnntttttoooooooooooooooo
Should I use a fender or a marshall as my amp?
also what distortion/overdrive pedal are you using?
I always use my 1991 pedal for PJ stuff now, works with either fender/Marshall amps but I use it with my Victory on the more Marshall-esque setting!
Woah. Same tuning as Going to California by Led Zepp ... kinda sounds similar as well once you try to hear it
oo nice, didn't know that will check it out, Kashmir too!
Can you do a lesson on reach down by temple of the dog
Connor Mervis hey Connor, I’ll add it to the list over on my Patreon channel. We’re deciding the next few songs to put up this week 🤘😀🤘
Hey im looking for some pearl jam songs that i can play with my new gibson sg, any suggestions?
Renatoe Gómez any 😀🤘 Mike, Stone and Ed all play with humbuckers and single coils. Ed uses an SG live too sometimes so you’re in good company
That tone is perfect. I've even bought a phaser pedal ahead of the time I was planning.
I'd love to see your insights about No Way's guitar sound. I tried an octave fuzz but didn't get anywhere near.
Hey Luis! Thanks so much, i do spend some time getting the tones right for you guys where possible so I appreciate the feedback. I haven't looked at No Way yet (will get to them all eventually but I get a lot of requests and have to prioritise the Patreon voted stuff first) so you're welcome to come join us over there or if not no worries and stay tuned, I'll get to it eventually :-)
Thanks for the response, Matt. I think I will keep supporting you the "CZcams way" for now.
Love your channel. Cheers.
Luis Eduardo Casper Braschi no problem at all mate! Thanks for following the channel and thanks for the kind words! I’ll get to all their songs eventually 😀🤘
Was gonna learn this but I’m too lazy to retune
Wow, there is no end to the talents of Louis CK
Hi ! Sorry ! What tuning please? GG D G B D
Dadgad - explained at beginning mate 🤘
