Yes, it suits her. Reminded me of Daphne from Scooby Doo and the Partridge Family. And Shane is rocking the sweatshirt and hair like I did in the 70s. It's like a flashback to my childhood. Great to see! 👍😃

The Cotswolds is so beautiful, don't forget to check in on Clarksons Farm😉. The Lake District is breathtaking and there'll be lots of great photo ops for Shane.
For you Jess I'd suggest Saffron Walden, it's a very nice old market town with great architecture, I think you'd love it.

If you go to Snowdonia, don't forget to visit Portmeirion near by (The cult classic The prisoner was filmed there in the 60's) and the best sandy and dune beach in the UK, Harlech Beach is also near by.
Yes Portmeirion is a unique place near by. It's like an Italian village in the heart of Wales ! Very different architecture and romanesque statues. Definitely worth a walk round.

On the northeast coast you could tour around Scarborough, Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay and Staithes. Further north on the northeast coast is Bamburgh (with its castle), Lindisfarne and Holy Island.

If you can get to Lindisfarne It's a history buffs dream. Site of the oldest monastary in Britain and raided by the Vikings many times. now an impressive ruin and as it's 7th Century a lot older than you'll see elsewhere. You have to be aware of the tides as the causeway to the island gets flooded at certain rimes of day !
More places to visit ! Durham city, Hadrian's wall, Newcastle upon Tyne when the hoppings are on, Hexham, Craster. and buy some kippers! loads more in the two old Counties of Durham and Northumberland. Castles galore-chillingham, warkworth, raby, barnard, Newcastle , durham, bamburgh , dunstaburgh...
York is beautiful. There is a train museum and viking museum. Plus The shambles is a must.

Newquay, pronounced New-key
Snowdonia is a must; castles, public footpaths through the countryside, narrow winding roads, towns and villages.
There is a narrow gauge railway to the top of Mount Snowdon.
Many northern Welsh speak Welsh, but they all speak English too.
If you go to York then go to the railway museum there; lots to see.
You may want to consider hiring a canal boat.

If you're going to visit Bath then you need to travel a short distance into the county of Devon. Then visit the cathedral city of Exeter and onto the rugged tors of Dartmoor.

Might I also add that if you ever visit Stonehenge, you might as well go to Longleat. Your family would absolutely love the safari park as well as the house. It’s amazing

Also, another nice place to visit next time you visit Cornwall is the Isles of Scilly which is just off the coast of Cornwall and one of the UK’s best kept secrets for locations to visit. Another place alongside the Isle of Man which is beautiful and scenic is the Isle of Wight. You can take the Hovercraft service from Portsmouth to the Isle of Wight. As always, an enjoyable video Jess. You have a a lovely family. I’m happy to hear you have enjoyed visiting the U.K.

When visiting Bath - another option is to spendcsome time in Somerset and Devon. Amazing long sandy beaches on the West coast, some pretty villages and towns. Drop down through the Quantock Hills, Exmoor, Dartmoor, South Devon. Agatha Christie's house is worth a visit, catching a boat up the River Dart.

Also, while you're in Yorkshire, head east to Whitby, the seaside town where Dracula was dreamed up with the castle on the hill!😀

You must come down to Pembrokeshire, west Wales. You can't turn a corner without seeing a castle!
Beautiful beaches and towns. Tenby, Narberth and Saundersfoots are the ones to visit. Then carry on to Milford Haven, Little Haven, Broad Haven, Newgale, Solva, St Davids and finishing off in Fishguard.

If you can get to Pembrokeshire you must visit Barafundle Bay
When you go to the Peak District make sure you go to the old market town of Bakewell, it's a very picturesque town and famous for its Bakewell puddings. You can't really get them anywhere else (unlike the much copied Bakewell tarts which are sold everywhere) and it's nice to have them warm especially where they are originally from so make sure to buy some. The River Wye running through Bakewell is teaming with fish and people feed them hand-to-mouth when they stick their heads out of the water. Also the spa town of Buxton (England's highest market town) in the P.D is famous for its mineral water which you can buy everywhere. Also, as others have said the Cotswolds are very picturesque and also have several picturesque towns you have to visit. Both The Peak District and The Cotwolds are of course famous for their hiking trails.

The drive west from loch ness to the kyle of lochalsh is MAGNIFICENT, it goes by the drop-dead-beautiful Eilean donan castle plus the isle of skye from there. Yes, the north west highlands of Scotland is gobsmackingly gorgeous. Oh and fountains abbey in yorkshire is one of my top 5 places.
If you want really stunning views of the Eileen Donan castle drive up the lane opposite right up the hill where there is an overlook.

The top event in York is the Viking Festival.
The Peak District is more accessible than the Lakes or Snowdonia, particularly if you drive. The big mountains, for the UK, in the Lakes & Snowdon force all the traffic in to the valleys with limited parking. To do justice to those areas you really need to get off the road & walk.
The Highlands are similar. There's much more of them & they're less developed so you can see something of them from the road, but it's nothing in comparison to the views you get from on the tops. Some of it involves hardcore walking, if not mountaineering, but there are places. Sections of the West Highland Way. Ben Lawers, and others, that incorporate visitor attractions, cheating by using a ski lift...

I live in Yorkshire but am on the edge of the Peak District. Both counties are very beautiful, lush green rolling hills, lots of sheep and cows, pretty villages, endless walks, historic houses and gardens to explore. In Derbyshire(Peak District)Chatsworth House and park with beautiful villages in it like Edensor(pronounced enzer), Haddon Hall, over 900 years old, Bakewell (the original puddings, not tarts!), Castleton, the only place in the world where the gemstone Blue John can be found, with caverns and mines you can visit, Eyam, the plague village, Hardwick Hall built by Bess of Hardwick, a powerful woman in a time when this was very rare, Harewood House, Kedleston Hall both full of beautiful Robert Adam interiors... the list goes on. York is beautiful, The Minster, The Shambles...you can walk atop the city walls, National Railway Museum, Jorvik Viking Centre. If you're in to steam trains, North Yorkshire Moors Railway, 18 miles of wonderful scenery(or 24 miles if you take the trip to lovely coastal Whitby, the ruined abbey there inspired Stoker to write Dracula. Castle Howard English Baroque and Palladian architecture from Vanbrugh and Hawksmoor, Aysgarth Falls, Malham Cove, Fountains Abbey, again, just do some googling as there are so many lovely places I'd be typing for days!

York, Richmond and Harrogate in Yorkshire would be on my list. Richmond has it all, A huge 11th century castle, an enclosed market place and beautiful buildings. If you like castles then there are plenty of them within a few miles of Richmond, all built to defend against the Northern hordes.

Richmond had an amazing Georgian theatre that they unearthed. It had been used as a storage facility or something and just boarded over, so it was well preserved.

When you say "Y'all", I just think of the Black country which is around Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton and one of the terms they use is "Alright Y'all" and they have the nickname of Yam Yams, which they hate! 😁

I guess being a Northern Brit and being used to being surrounded by old things, Stonehenge dont float my Boat. Ive drove past though. The Lakes has an old stone circle also on an Hill above a Lake at Keswick. Really nice view. The stones not as big, But the view is superia. Snowden is good. Lakes and Cumbria are my favourite. Theres just so many scenic views

Other places I would recommend would be New Forest in Hampshire and Isle of Wight which is a tiny island off of south England. I live in Kent (known as the garden of England) and there is so many national trust places/castles you can visit and also some great circular walks. Best places are Canterbury, dover, Hever castle, leeds castle! Thanks for some great content, always enjoy watching your videos! 😊

It appears that many folks have made suggestions, but have missed out mentioning Hadrian's Wall which stretches from Wallsend in hte north east to the Solway Firth in the north west. For information, Newquay is pronounced 'Newkey' and is one of the places that I'd not recommend for a visit, but that's my opinion. I'll just say that it's too 'touristy'. That said, I'm glad that Colette liked the place and found some vintage clothes that she liked.

Hi all, As a person who was born very close to the Snowdonia National Park I can tell you it's an incredible place to visit, I left Wales many years ago, however, once a Welshman, always a Welshman. Whatever you do....Take really good rainwear! When it rains in the mountains, it rains! But a beautiful spot, you can actually walk to the top of the mountain, or get the little narrow gauge railway if you're feeling a little lazy!! Whatever....Enjoy!

When you're in Bath if you do an extended stay you can do Bristol, Salisbury and Gloucester quite easily. Also would suggest Glastonbury, as the vibe is very chill. With beautiful buildings and the Glastonbury tor. The Mendips which are also close by and don't get as much attention as the Cotswold but are stunning.

Hi family my sister and her family only just the other day got to the summit of snowdonia took them 4 hours not bad for novices. So many places I have not even visited yet but hope to .Its important to fit in as much as you can If possible , yorks on my list and the cotswolds . 😊❤

Great list of places , theres so many , wales is beautiful spent many a summer at my grandads when he lived there , lakedistrict is also beautiful . York is great defo check it out if you get the chance, theres so many places in the uk ( especually in summer ) which are great , reaped in history which makes them more intresting .Im glad you are all enjoying youre time here & getting about exploring .

If you wait until you cross everything off on the mainland, you might never leave!
If you're heading to York, you might want to take some extra time to check out the Yorvik Viking centre. There is also a bird of prey centre somewhere near the city IIRC
Not sure if your trip to Cornwall included the following places:
-Eden Project
-Lost Gardens Of Heligan
those two are either side of St Austell and are very different takes on gardens, the Eden Project is more of an educational take, including two biomes showcasing different climates. The Lost Gardens is just a huge estate with a very charming feel to it.
-The Minack Theatre
Amphitheatre that is carved in to the side of a cliff overlooking the sea. It's a photographer's dream!
For a morbid visit, there is the Poison Garden at Alnwick Castle. It is exactly how it sounds, a garden full of deadly plants!
Might be a bit short notice now, but on the photography thing, the Bristol Internation Balloon Fiesta is a pretty amazing event in August. There is a mass launch near sunset, and there is a night glow on some nights where they light up balloons in time to music.
Great suggestions for York. We were only able to see part of Cornwall. Next time we will try to check out some of the suggestions. Cheers, Chris.
I’d add Oxford to the recommendations, although use a park n ride to get into the city centre as parking is a pig!
Devon south coast (Salcombe, Brixham, Torquay etc) are all close together and has some beautiful countryside.

Bath is amazing and the Cotswolds are also worth exploring. Whilst there, the Cotswolds Farm Park would be something you'd enjoy. They currently have a couple of Highland Cow calves you can see. Not far from the Cotswolds and Bath is also Lacock in Wiltshire to visit the village and abbey.

The Dovedale river walk in the Peak District is beautiful. The Yorkshire Dales are absolutely worth a visit as well. Beautiful scenery, amazing rivers and waterfalls as well. Aysgarth falls are absolutely stunning and for Shane its a photographers paradise

A truly great family and you all just appreciate the beauty thats around us all and the places you all described are just wonderful! Colette the City of Edinburgh is so historic with Edinburgh Castle and the town streets are built on top of the old city and they do tours down there and to be honest its quite a time warp! Bath is a great Roman town complete with original Roman Bath house etc and the buildings within Bath are truly stunning! Thanks for sharing a great feedback session xx

My Daughter Kelly lives in Kircaldy (Pronounced ker koddee).
On the drive up the scenery is breath taking. We "delivered her" there in winter and it was an amazing drive.
We then had a summer hol there. When the sun is shining it is a beautiful place.
Another place you might like to visit is Warwick Castle & Stratford.

Hi Jess, Shane and Colette, it is so good to see everyone together giving their thoughts, and wishes. Like Shane, i am a photographer/videographer and just love to catch whatever i can, my cameras always go with me no matter how short or long a distance i travel. I Love Silhouette work sunrises/sunsets Cloud formations that are very different and very shapely, even reflections of the sky at sunset or even with a clear blue sky from the roof of my car or something else. I also take Photos of very unusual things that you just don`t see or look for everyday, and look for perspectives of a shot that would look great, shane would understand. Colette talking about just staring out and looking into a wonderland of beauty can very much take you into a Dreamy State of thought and creativity and inspiration to Write something, maybe a Poem, or a story, or even lyrics for a song, which is something else i do, as i believe when you get into that state and it triggers something, write it down, and get into a character or story line, Keep writing Colette :) Chris i know was unavailable, but as you mentioned North Wales i would agree Snowdonia is a must, along with Portmeirion which is fabuloso. But for Chris, and so will Shane for the Photo opportunities alone, is a place called Mach Loop. This is actually a nickname for it as it is where, the R.A.F. and Your Boys U.S.A.F Lakenheath practice their very low Flying, in a designated LFA= Low Flying Area, Believe me you will be blown away by what you see but make sure you take plenty of warm clothing as you will have to climb some hills for the best elevation and views of it all. The video below will help you tremendously, enjoy.

I was in the lake district last week, and we had fun despite the weather being pretty dull. I think the area takes a hell of a lot of exploring, and we only saw a fraction of what's there. My suggestion is to definitely visit Lake Windermere, get a boat out on the lake, and if you are there, you might as well drive through Kirkstone pass, which is very close to Lake Windermere. As for Snowdonia, we took the train to the top of Mount Snowdon, and walked down, I absolutely loved it, pack some food and make a day of it. Pick a warm sunny day and get there early.

We are fortunate in the UK as nowhere is very far from another. Yes, it may take a few hours to drive but the distances are not that great. Here's hoping that the weather improves, anything but rain.

Forgot to mention that between Whitby and Staithes there is Sandsend and Runswick Bay. At Whitby there is also The North York Moors steam railway too.

When you go to Snowdonia the train journey up to the peak is well worth doing. The day we went the peak was covered in low cloud. The journey up, about 1 hour, is very scenic though. The strange trains at Ffestiniog are worth a visit too.

I had suggested you visit the city of Chester recently, today, you mentioned visiting Snowdonia. Chester, which has a Roman wall around it, which you can walk around the city on, only takes about 1 hour, and is known as the gateway to Wales. After leaving Chester, the Welsh border, is only about 7 miles. You can travel through Conway, visit a beautiful 11th century castle, you can visit Llandudno, drive up, or take the small train to the top of the Great Orme, overlooking the Irish sea. Onwards a short distance from Conway, is Caernarfon castle, another beautiful castle where, the present king was invested, as the Prince of Wales, from Caernarfon, you are only a short ride to Snowdonia. 😁

I would highly recommend
1) York. Get a train up there. Lots to see within easy walking distance.
2) Lake District. Very picturesque with some narrow mountain roads. See the main towns but also try to get off the beaten track
3) Derbyshire. PeaK District scenery, grand old Victorian towns, 1700s cotton mills, reservoirs, Bakewell pudding ...
4) North Wales . Snowdon or Yr Wyddfa mountain, Welsh castles, North Wales coastline drive, Portmerion, Ffesistinog steam railway + slate mining history

You've made some great choices,the Peak district is full of beautiful scenery,with hill walks,caves,stone circles and standing stones,good pubs and ale. The lake district is full of the same but on a larger scale and even better beer,ideal for walking among fantastic scenery,waterfalls and a photograph at every turn in the path. Being born on the Broads at sea level the Peak district,the Lake district,and Scotland with the hills and mountains always seemed like another world straight out of Lord of the Rings,totally breathtaking views. And Colette shouldn't worry about place names,local dialects confuse us all when we travel around Britain. Newquay is pronounced New Key,but don't worry we all know what you meant. Have fun on your travels and happy trails. :-)

We have a lot of great places to see but still, having said that they do get over-hyped. I sometimes think the expectations created do leave some tourists disappointed. For example, I happen to think the Roman wall is wonderful and have spent many weeks and days walking around the countryside surrounding it but sometimes the sell to tourists leaves some of them expecting almost intact wall/forts or at least original height ruins. It doesn't need the oversell it just needs telling as it is.
We understand that some can be over-hyped. That is one of the reasons we like to check out the parts that are not hyped as much. They often tend to be even better. Cheers, Chris
Morning Jess, Newquay pronounced Newkey, if you are contemplating going right up into the Highlands of Scotland be aware that in the summer months the Midges will eat you alive so take plenty of repellent. Edinburgh Castle sits on an extinct ( hopefully) volcano, well worth a visit especially the Edinburgh Tattoo which is held yearly at the castle ( google it ). The open top bus tours are very good there was three different choices when we went, there hop on hop off tours, one stops where Britannia is moored ( the late Queens floating palace ) you are allowed on board, you can visit her golden throne on board ( toilet ).
When we went we caught the train direct from Peterborough to Edinburgh a 5. 1/2 trip much easier than driving, but if your taking in Loch Ness then obviously you will need your car plus you can also take in the Lake District on the way there or coming back. A question how many miles do you reckon you do each month on average on your travels, as always safe journeys.🏴

So with Bath, you can also go to Stonehenge on the way, and if you go south for about 1.5 hours you can do The Jurassic Coast - there’s a lovely coastal town called Lyme Regis where you can see a ton of fossils etc. This is where the skull of a giant sea dinosaur was discovered and excavated recently (David Attenborough programme on BBC was made about it!). Fabulous, pretty and interesting place to visit with lots of lovely guest houses too. You’ll all LOVE it!!!

In Snowdonia I would recommend a trip on the Ffestiniog Railway. It's a scenic trip through Snowdonia on a steam railway.
Or Llangollen is very nice, there is a steam train there but you should definitely go on the canal trip on the barge pulled by a horse. 😊

You mentioned York which is an excellent choice. The Cathedral is magnificent and the old buildings in York are unique. The area called the shambles is a collection of shops and alleys which inspired J K Rowling when she wrote about Diagon Alley and other areas in her books. Thanks to this connection there are some shops that have adopted a Harry Potter theme including one that sells every wand you may want from the films. If you plan ahead and book you could fit in a Viking museum tour (must book in advance). York is one of a few cities that still have a city wall and a pre expansion and post expansion area that can be clearly seen today.

Lake district is a good shout but don't expect a mobile signal, it seems to be an EMF free zone, good boost to the health. I would give Buxton a try as you have hills and amazing architecture with the victorian theatre plus so much more to take in. I live in Chesh-er (cheshire) so surrounded by fields and stinking rich footballers :) but we have some cracking attractions like Chester, Beeston, Delamere Forest etc.

There are many many beautiful places in the U.K which many of us certainly do take for granted. The Derbyshire Dales, The High Peak, The Dark Peak, and Yorkshire Dales and Moors are well worth the visit. It's called the Peak District by the way, because of an ancient tribe that lived in the area, and not because of high places, even some U.K residents are not aware of this. There are many videos on CZcams doing Village and Dale walkabouts. You could try before you buy from your armchair so to speak. Wherever you go it will be good to have you all back again.

Another interesting video. You should visit the lake district and the peak district, if not already been there. Try to arrange some longer walks with th family. Get out of the car. The weather will be improving, and this is the country for using Shank's pony, ie one's own legs.

If you get the chance, 2 more things to add would be Runnemede cos the USA actually owns a bit of the land there (they not only have memorials to Magna Carta but also to JFK) but you really need a dry day for that. The other thing that I reckon you and Collete would love (and maybe the boys too) is to see the Nutcracker at the Royal Opera House around Christmas. Expensive but magical. As for me, 3 places I haven't yet done in the USA that I would like to see are historic Virginia, New Orleans and Seattle.

Great lists. I would add just a couple more. Someone already said Lacock, which is stunning, but Wells is nearby and a personal favourite of mine.
The other places are Exmoor, Lorna Doone country, and the Valley of Rocks which is quite stunning, as are loads of other places on that coatline including the furnicular railway at Lynton.
Lastly the Isle of Wight kinda encapsulates England in a handy package, a walk right around the coast of it is only 70 miles, with plenty of B & B's and so on, and covers lots of different sceneries from beaches to cliff top walks

@@DaydreamersBarn Lacock is not only incredibly picturesque, the setting for many historical dramas on film, but one of a couple of places with a credible claim to be the home of photography. The tour of the Fox Talbot museum is well worth the admission price, whilst you can get up close and personal with the wild goats in the Valley of the Rocks!

The Peak District in Derbyshire is well worth visiting, there is so much to see: Chatsworth House (the Palace of the Peak), Haddon Hall - even older (both near Bakewell.) Bakewell itself for Bakewell puddings and tarts. Buxton, a spa town. Castleton - caverns and Blue John, and the ruins of Peveril Castle high above the village, and close by is Winnats Pass. Hathersage with the grave of Little John (reputedly) in the churchyard, one of Robin Hood's 'merry men.' The dams and reservoirs of Ladybower, Derwent and Howden - Derwent being the dam which the Dambusters squadron used to practice for their raid on the dams in Germany in WW2. Stanage Edge - a gritstone escarpment used by rock climbers, but a little walk from the nearest road. Carl Wark and Higger Tor, both hill forts constructed by ancient Britons. Matlock Bath - for all the world resembling a traditional British seaside seafront, except that there's no sea. Beyond Matlock Bath is Crich (pronounced Cry-tch) an open air Tramway museum showing Britain's use of Tram's from the late 1800's to the early 1960's. Dovedale in the White Peak area of the Peak District. Hardwick Hall which, though in Derbyshire, isn't in the Peak District is a large house which belonged to Bess of Hardwick. Bess married four times and each time her husband died leaving her richer than before, culminating in Hardwick Hall characterised by its large windows. It has a saying - Hardwick Hall, more glass than wall.

If you like walks in nature, then on your visit to to cotswolds, divert to the forest of dean on the Welsh/English border. The drive from Chepstow to Monmouth is a must see and in the forest itself there are marked walking and cycling routes (see local tourist website). Also JK Rowling's house where she grew up is in Tutshill (on the English side of the border with Chepstow). Gloucester cathedral is also worth a look inside.
