My kids get mental health days, although, I don't tell them about this leniency lol because they would play on it!! But, you know physical anguish from emotional anguish.

I’m a single mom to a lovely daughter and we just got out of homelessness and starting to thrive the best we can. Your channel is so encouraging and it motivates me to be the best mama bear I can be even though I’m not exactly where I would like us to be. We’re healthy and together and that’s most important! That is so great that he has an older brother that can help him through his struggles and also it’s great that Mom can get online and speak of these things without being bashed. I absolutely love your content.❤ I would definitely take the lock off of that door though because that could be very dangerous if there’s like a fire in the house or anything and he has that door locked nobody’s gonna be able to get to them unless you are strong enough to kick the door in.
I noticed you don't use top sheets?... Makes for less laundry?

It's actually a great idea. He can not get out and wander. She can also unlock it from the other side. I'm sure having 12 kids she knows everything that works for HER children and have talked it over with the proper people. Thank God she is the parent and not the commenters

So glad I’m not the only one who talks to their pets like babies! Love seeing other people do that! Very supportive of James to help Bidhi. That was great to see! Love the take a day concept. My mom did that to me as a kid and it helped so much!

The kids are definitely helpful with each other, but they really need to pick up after themselves...like dishes to the kitchen, towels hung to dry in the bathroom and worn clothes in the hamper not on their bedroom floors or bed. Not only would it help you, it would teach them responsibility, it would be a good lesson for the little kids.
Another good idea would be to throw like colors in separate baskets when taking to the laundry

It makes sense that James is so good with the younger kiddos. I’m sure with him and Alex being the oldest kids they prolly have an essential part in making the new kids feel at home. And maybe even being the ear for the little ones when they may not wanna talk to mom and dad.

Why dont the kids do any chors? You take out the garbage, feed the chickens, make their beds, put their cloths away, clean their rooms etc.
I love that you recognize a hard day sometimes means staying home and relaxing. just because we can force a kid to do something doesn't mean we should..I know with special needs kids that comes naturally to you ..I'm in the same boat myself... although on a much smaller scale 🙂 just another reason to love your channel
You know what I love about your day to day life videos? They show how similar we all are. I live in the South and notice the boys do the same routine for football, the nurses all have a similar tone, and I love the fact that the Walgreens sound is the same. I have never visited the North so I find these little things amazing.
James is really the best big brother. He's literally a gentle giant. I'm not making fun of his size either. He's great.
It was so sweet of James and Patrick to help with Bodhi! I love that they both took time to say bye to Bodhi, even if James was a little upset! They're such good brothers and sons! Bodhi will come around, he just likes his alone time, sweet boy!
My son was the same way every morning it was horrible I talked with his teacher she came up with a great way to help, she bought his favorite thing a lizard and had him be the keeper he was so excited every morning to go feed and help with his cage. So maybe his teacher can help you.

I am so confused. My sisters and I did the bed changing and housework. My mom did the laundry but we folded and ironed and put it away. We helped with the cooking and cleaned the kitchen after dinner. Our rooms were expected to be neat and tidy. My brother did the outside chores. Why are these kids not doing this stuff?
I loved the the video especially when you were just talking with us at your kitchen table about your kids and their needs. I know you can't disclose much but hearing your comments/concerns felt like I was part of your family. All of the stuff you do for the kids is inspiring.
You can clearly see the doorknob has a hole in the center where you can unlock it from the outside. There’s no danger to having these knobs and they allow for privacy, especially in a household of 14. Not sure why so many commenters are hung up on that!
Man, something about the filming of Bodhi's door makes me uncomfortable.

& Josh especially special. Every time o think i Al stressed & can’t handle the craziness in my life I watch a day in the life & realize….I CAN handle this. If you guys can handle all of that family, various personalities, extra curricular activities, daily life, taking care of your household & everything else in life then I can do it. I sure hope you know how much your video help those of us who struggle. Your kiddos may not realize how special the family is right now. Being from a family of 10 I look back & miss those noisy nights when I would go outside just to get away from everyone. ♥️
It takes an exceptional soul to relate to a special needs child. James is exceptional. This is a daily struggle for our child as well.

I don't know if it would be easier or not for you, but you can register the patient and refill prescriptions online with most major pharmacies. This is convenient because you can see how many refills are left, schedule a refill to be filled up to a month in advance and request the pharmacist to call the md for additional refills.
James is such an amazing brother and will be an amazing father one day.

Could you elaborate on how you teach the kids life skills (like if they make a mess, help out cleaning, or learn how to fold clothes; organization skills in general?) - I can still remember my Mom saying: "remember, leave the bathroom ready for the next person 🥰" - it stayed with me all these years!

I love your videos so much, especially the grocery hauls. You have such a sweet loving family. We used to keep a container of baby wipes by our back door and our little Rat Terrier would stop at the door and patiently let us wipe her tiny paws. She was a little OCD and didn't like dirty feet anyway. We also had a Tidy Paws corduroy puppy glove that was great. I realize with 2 pretty big dogs the wipes would be gone in a day or 2 but on Amazon they have the 'Spotless Glove' that might work great for you guys. You put your hand in the glove and clean mud, dirt, water, etc. quickly and easily off your pups paws. I just thought I'd put it out there for you and any of your viewers with puppers. We have all spent a lot of time cleaning floors and furniture from our precious pets little hooves and this might make your life a little easier. Cheers.

As a mommy to an 8-year-old with autism I have the same feeling when he has a hard day just let him have the metal health day. Bodhi hope you feel better soon.
My sisters kids both have autism and sensory processing so I love seeing how you handle that with bhodi maybe you could do a sit down video and explain to others more about how that affects how you handle certain situations because it does take patience

This woman is a Saint! I'm 81 yrs old and raised 5 kid, plus a grandchild with severe medical problems. Having a good husband and grandparents who are there to help when they can is great. There has to be a special place in heaven for these kind and loving mothers!

Closet door doorknobs/handles have no locks on them..I had to do that on bedrooms when they were little.

I have two German Shepherds and feel you with all the mud. The best thing I bought was an O-Cedar spin mop from Walmart. Nothing fancy but it's the best! I bought extra mop tops and toss them in the wash after I mop these dirty muddy floors. I always have a clean one on hand.

Alicia, you should try rewarding your kids if they made up their beds and kept their room in order ...in this way you too will get some relief from cleaning up their rooms daily

Investing Food processor might be a good idea for such a large family. I know it worked for me with the family of five saves time in the kitchen for chopping vegetables. Just a suggestion you’re so busy all the time you just you do such a great job with your family.
You and your husband are amazing raising amazing kids! I want to make one suggestion...some laundromats offer "wash and fold" service and some even pickup and deliver. It is about $2.55 à pound. It would save you so much time!
I agree completely with mental health days! Mental health needs to become more normalized and it needs to be okay for kids to have a mental day! I love how James and Patrick tried with bodhi that’s so sweet ❤

Have you ever considered a feeder you can fill with a bag of feed? We have 17 chickens and have one and it's amazing! Stays clean and I don't have to go out and feed every day anymore!
