    I am glad to see that charging is possible while using the light. It is hard to find lights that allow this. I did do a quick search and found that the 21700 li-ion cells that the light uses can be had for less that $10! So it could be handy to have a few for those long adventures that take us into the dark hours.
    I do like the knob on the side to set the brightness. For me it is colder weather of winter that I ride so I would be wearing gloves and that knob would make it easy to set and adjust the brightness.
    The only unknown with this light is the beam pattern. Light manufacturers are very slowly making lights that have a beam pattern that will not blind oncoming traffic.

      Would any third-party 21700 battery work here? Could it for example be one with a slightly higher capacity of 4200 or even 5000? The battery that comes with the light states it has 'integrated battery overcharge/discharge protection circuits', I'm having a bit of a rough time finding batteries with protection (UK-based) so wondering if this is essential or not...

    Lots of practical features on this light 👍

    Love the dial. It’s very user friendly. The easily replaceable battery and aluminum construction make it worth the money. I like that it comes with a go pro mount. Feature wise this is the best light I’ve seen for the money.

      I also love how the light can be charged while in use. Easy to extend night riding with an external battery pack inside a top tube bag, etc.

    I love that knob. The push button types always had a tendency to trip me up when out on the mountainbike trails because they also serve to scroll through the modes, at least the lights I had did. I've even accidentally turned the light off when trying to change the brightness. That sucks.

    Nice discernible detents when scrolling through light intensities. I like this. Nice job JOM. I currently use an 800 lumen Garmin Varia, which I like. But this beacon is absolutely next level. I’m grabbing one of these bad boys. See and be seen!

    I just got one. It’s really great, love the volume knob and the quality of light. It does have one design flaw, the lens is proud of the housing and refracts a little light back at you and is a little blinding. I fixed it with some electrical tape.

      Now that I have ridden more miles and kms since this video, I agree with your point about the lens edge causing some light spillover into your eyes. Your solution, 👌

    thanks for doing this video. just got mine today, haven't been able to use it yet. just one note - the commercial packaging is very nice - looks like you may have just received some simple press package!

      Haha, no complaints either way. I am LOVING the beam pattern of the light. Just wrapped up another ride with it (rode in NorFLA, EST USA time).

    The maths doesn't seem to add up for the run time, I'd think the LED is something like 10W and the battery is only 15Wh, that shouldn't last three hours at full power.

      @@marcinlukaWhile the size is common, this is a proprietary design which has both terminals on one end. So you can't just buy regular off the shelf 21700 batteries, you need to buy their batteries, which as of right now aren't even available yet.

    Is the mount good and solid, or is it insecure like some comments saying?

    • @GravelCyclist
      @GravelCyclist  Před 9 měsíci

      I don't know which comments you are referring to? I have tried three different mounts. K-Edge, a Garmin brand computer mount, and the supplied Bookman Mount. The people saying? the Bookman mount is insecure are clearly talking BS. It is the most stable of the mounts, absolutely no shaking about, and I have not ejected the light.

      my opinion after 4 rides: light distribution - nice and wide, knob - great solution, original mount is very loose, locking pins broke after 4 rides, i will try adapt Cateye mount to be used with that light. Beam blind back tha rider - easy to fix with tape or some other solution. Charging while using - great. Interchangable batteries - at the moment that function os not available as they tdo not sell spare batt which is some custom solution non available on the market. So - this light is a good idea with very poor implementation, like someone had the concept, send it for sale, but never tested in the field.....

    Have you tried putting a normal 21700 in there? The included battery looks weird. Actually terrible for sustainability if you have to invest in their batteries.

    • @treimar
      @treimar Před 7 měsíci

      It's a normal cell with a special cap that brings the negative terminal to the positive side. The light has both on one end. I'm sure it isn't too hard to move that stuff over to a new cell.
