Saw the new Mean Girls in theaters the other night and it was WAY BETTER than I thought it would be! I love the original. It's iconic and nothing can touch it, but this new version has its own fun twists and I left really happy I saw it.

It's sad that the audience can't laugh at the Philly jokes. At first they were uncomfortable, not realising she is from Philly. I am Canadian but I love regional accent humour, it is funny, we do speak differently and there is nothing wrong with finding humour in ourselves about something as benign as accents especially when they are done in great taste.

People prejudice against musicals and research shows that people don't even want to give it a try if they find out, plus, they're not lying, a musical is a movie just like any other, so they rather have people finding out when they watch it and they will eventually see that it's actually good.

i don’t think they should have tried to tone down the musicalness of it so much. like, changing the arrangements in songs and not including them in a lot of the marketing. i get that they were trying to appeal to a larger audience but i think that they ended up alienating fans of the musical AND exacerbating the annoyance of people who weren’t expecting it to be a musical and/or are precious about the original movie.
