    Sometimes I feel like I know a lot of Photoshop... and then I watch a tutorial like this. So many techniques I've never used (especially the layer styles fill to zero and knockout). Thanks, Ian!

      That was a technique I found in a tutorial a couple of years ago that underpinned most of my SmartPSD products.

    Brilliant video, Ian! I can't believe I have never thought to make and use my own textures, I didn't know it was so easy :O I also wasn't sure how to add this sort of effect to my lettering, so this will definitely come in handy! Thanks again for the great tutorials and videos!

      Ha ha, I definitely thought that would be something you already knew how to do. Glad I've taught you something new.

    I spent 4 hours last semester looking for the perfect textures for an ad campaign we had to do as a final project. If I only thought of making my own. Thanks for this :)

      Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I only learnt this a couple of years ago and I've been a designer 16 years.

    Awesome tutorial! Is there any way to let the texture cut out the white layer of the text? So that there are "holes" in the text? :)

    Great video Ian! How do you share your work on Instagram from your Mac?

    • @IanBarnard
      @IanBarnard  Před 8 lety

      I place it in my Dropbox folder on my Mac, which then syncs to my Android smart phone. If you have an iPhone you can do the same with iDrive. Save it to your phone and then open up Instagram.

    Thanks for the Video, For some reason I cannot clip the fill layer to a group. not sure why maybe it my version of PS. (5.5)

    • @bestatvgear8628
      @bestatvgear8628 Před 5 lety

      Since I couldn't apply the solid fill to the layer I had to ad it to each text element to get the inner glow bit to work correctly.
