  • Gibson has certainly been making guitars for a long time. One of their earliest, fanciest, and most beloved hollowbody archtop models has been the L-5. Designed by Lloyd Loar and introduced in 1922, it has not left production since. Big shoes to fill…
    Until 1972, that is, when Gibson thought they’d take a whack at producing a solidbody version. Every bit as fancy as its hollow grandpa, this guitar does play quite well. It’s just that people weren’t particularly into it, and it was cancelled by 1985.

    I loved it , but I had the low impedance p.u. on it. No power. I didn't know any better at the time . What do think I I could find one today with hamburgers on it for?
