This was right around the time I moved to SoCal from the Midwest., so this all looks very normal/familiar including how people are dressed, the cars on the street, and even the colors of the old RTD buses. To the person below who thinks everyone in this clip is either dead or in an old folks home now, not quite. I was 21 then and I'm still doing fine, thanks.

This is the Hollywood I remember as a kid growing up in the 70s and 80s and later into the 90s...But this is so cool to see these types of videos...🤩♥️...thank you for sharing this video!!!!🖐
Do you remember THE SECURITY PACIFIC BANK. At HOLLYWOOD and HIGHLAND? And how about... PIC & SAVE, located just south of HOLLYWOOD; on VINE STREET. Or... CARPETERIA, located near the corner of... SANTA MONICA BOULEVARD on VINE STREET. ✌️😃
From '77 to '84 I lived 1 block from Hollywood and Vine and every frame in that clip was of my daily routine.I also knew the "Dancing Lady" you've seen and she is the nicest person you would ever meet she will smile and talk to anyone. She dances to pay the Lord for making her well again and wont stop dancing.
I was 10 in 1980. By 1984 I was obsessed with Motley Crue and desperately wanted to go to Hollywood but never made it there until 2007. I hate myself for not living my dream.
It was CRAZY man! I walked Hollywood Blvd. every day and us hard core L.A. punks (from Philly) would laugh at the heavy metal hair bands who were obsessed with their hair and hitting high notes, They even went to the " Metal Institute of Technology" up on Holly wood at Highland and as I am writing this I just realized that the 420 bus into the Valley picks you up at Highland. Cool huh?
I used to live one block south of Hollywood Blvd during this time. I recognize the lady from 2:48-3:15. I was hoping to see "Captain Jet", he was a regular on the boulevard, like that lady, that was an older gentleman dressed in an Air Force uniform, with a bunch of different colored plastic toy jets hooked onto his hat.
People were much hotter in the 70s ..back then people would say "you look fine...." We didnt use the word "hot" when referring to someone's good looks.
My fav parts: 0:38 - guy who almost gets whacked in the face, keeps walking with no issue about it. 3:00 - crazy lady, much cleaner and well put together than today's crazy lady. 3:35 - grade school kid walking down the street with no supervision. Totally normal back then; no big deal, no police/CPS called. Also, I heart how the people filming this didn't give a damn about getting permission/authorizations from people being filmed. Evidently well before our era of blurring faces from fear of litigation. Oh, how this unassuming footage demonstrates what pussies we've become! Hah! :)
It's ironic that it's considered almost forbidden to let your kids roam free now, even though the crime statistics prove it's much safer now than it was back then. Fear over facts.
I read 1980 had the highest murder rate in LA history. Anyone know why? What was going on at this time? This was a few years before the crack era emerged.

No. That actually happened in 1984. 1971-1984 was the Pluto in Libra/Neptune in Sagittarius era, and everybody born in that era is from that generation, which lines up with the "Xennials" (look at all the people you know and you'll see the differences in generational character and even appearance and voice... the young adults in this era were all 1942-1957 Pluto in Leo/Neptune in Libra Baby Boomers, and people ages 41-66 all had Pluto in Cancer, 1928-1939 with Neptune in Virgo (Silent Generation) and 1914-1929 with Neptune in Leo (Greatest Generation), and the people older than that all had Pluto in Gemini). This is why Motown (famous during the 1956-1970 Pluto in Virgo/Neptune in Scorpio era, which is Gen X, as this generation were the teenagers and college kids when MTV launched) transitioned to Funk and Disco in this era to New Jack Swing in the Pluto in Scorpio/Neptune in Capricorn era (1984-1995, when the Millennials were born), and the same with classic folk and psychedelic rock to album oriented rock (which includes prog rock, yacht rock, and arena rock) to hair metal and grunge to alternative rock (1998-2008 Pluto in Sagittarius/Neptune in Aquarius era, which aligns well with Gen Z). The cars changed with the generations too, as the 60s had cars with long hoods, to cars with more classy designs in the 70s and early 80s, to boxy designs in the late 80s and early 90s, all the way to today's bubble cars (Pluto in Capricorn/Neptune in Pisces era 2011-2024, which aligns well with Gen Alpha... the music is all exactly alike now as well, which is Capricorn, the sign associated with the status quo). A lot of info, but all of it is true if you do your research and notice the patterns of when the trends start and end. The 70s and early 80s are very much the same era, as the later videos of 80s LA from 85 onward all have the energy of the next era, while this still feels VERY much like the 70s (similar to how the 90s that many remember was mainly the transitional 1995-1998 Pluto in Sagittarius/Neptune in Capricorn era, which 1993 was the beginning of the transition to, with Clinton's inauguration, and the 2008-2012 recession era was its own transitional era with Pluto in Capricorn/Neptune in Aquarius. Reagan's inauguration in 1981 was the beginning of the transition to the next era).
