Saw this on pay tv around 1983 or 1984. This is the first time I've seen it since.

Thanks Vintage Canada for uploading one of my favorite Canadian movies of all time: The Supreme Kid. I saw this film at the Cinematheque in Vancouver back in 2017 (back when Canada was celebrating 150 years of being a country) as a double feature to The Bitter Ash, and not only I was excited about, but it was also the movie that made me feel good about myself in seeing it for 3 reasons one it was made in the 70's which was the golden age of Canadian Cinema at a time when this country was making interesting movies both domestic and foreign two it was distributed by Cinepix, and 3 it stared Don Granberry who became one of my favorite actors after seeing that movie, I saw him previously in two movies that Cinepix themselves would produce one was Death Weekend, and the other was Blackout, in those two movies he was what you call a hanger on to the bad guys played by Don Stroud and Robert Carridine, but in this movie he gets to stand out on his own to feet doing this scene stealing performance as Wilber. If Gold ninja video and Canadian international pictures are planning a Blu-ray release on any overlooked Canadian film that should looked at this is one of them and it would be interesting to have special features like on how the film is made and what kind of man Peter Bryant (the man who directed the film) was and have as also a special feature The Rocco Brothers the short that the director had made before doing this film. Hope everyone enjoy this film like I did.

I looked every where since I lost my copy in1989. I tried to find a copy & I wrote many people, even the director! Also I msg to the Brother of a member in the band wildroot that did the amazing sound track for the movie..But he didn't know of any copies either.
The problem was it was never transferred to VHS you had to be lucky and have recorded it. I actually seen it played lots late nite aprox 5 times in late 70s & early 80s. CBC, channel 3, CTV, channel 11 on the coast...(This was a great comment you left! I hope it comes on blue ray one day also 🍻) I would of went in 2017 all the way from Saskatchewan to see it, if I only had known! Cheers! 🤝🏼✌🏼
