  • Make spark plug wire looms out of zip ties. When you replace your spark plug wires, odds are you will break a wire loom or two. Sometimes it is hard to find special wire looms or looms for your application so a cheap yet effective way to protect your plug wires from chaffing and melting against the exhaust manifold is to use zip ties. It also makes your engine compartment very neat and organized!

Great idea for spark plug looms!!
I havent seen nothing that original since the night I called my dad to help me get my truck home because the alternator belt broke.. 30 years ago I watched my dad make me a temporary alternator belt out of a pair of panty hose just to get it home until the parts store opened the next morning..That was the day I knew MacGyver didn't have anything on my dad!!

I like the tip. But I also like how-to videos that are concise, without long intros and useless cheesy background music. The camera doesn't shake. There's no rambling or excessive ums and ahs either. Sounds basic but it's amazing how many bad tutorial videos there are. Subscribed.

GENIUS. Holy cow I can't even begin to say how simple an idea this is, but wow that's a good idea.

I would have never thought to use zip ties like this as I always carry a whole bunch of various sizes and colors. Great video and I just learned something today because my '96 Silverado has some of the spark plug wire clips broken. I just ordered new spark plug wires high performance and it came with clips but in a bind or a pinch and to last a while the zip tie trick is amazing. Thank you for sharing it I never would have thought.

Great tip Chris! Always like it when you can make something neater. One pointer that I could offer, is that instead of cutting the zip tie with the diagonal pliers, use a pair of "side cutter" pliers. Grad the tie by the tip of the pliers and twist until it breaks off. That way you will not have a sharp edge and it breaks off flush. Learned this being an electrician for 40 years.

Knowing that ignition wires leak NEVER DO THAT! The ignition wires should always have a little gap... This is the perfect fix! Even trying to buy the expensive original holder is a problem because you may not have the right diameter and the wires will ship... This idea will ensure you have a good snug fit... Great stuff... :-) Be Well...

Funny I know... I forgot to mention also, Try and guide your ignition wires AWAY from any metal... Engine block, Valve Covers, Frame, Motor Mounts Etc... bad enough when it gets wet under the hood don't make it worse by giving an ignition wire a chance to ground out on anything metal... :-) Be well...

    If wires are low ohms
Or higher ohms. Does the low ohms get better spark and have more interference with other vehicle components as ... ignition module on an 2005 3.8 gm supercharged engine?
Would be safer to keep stock oem acdelco replacement with higher ohms ?

Why would it make any difference now that you know what it is and how to do it? I mean, there's no Finder's Fee associated with this...no "invention", no book deal, no claim to fame, etc. Do you really mean, you would have liked to have known about this PRIOR to seeing this video approx. 5 months ago?
