"The second generation is just a cluster-f*ck of different cephalosporins." THIS SHOULD BE IN EVERY MEDICAL TEXT!
😂😂😂😂
Thanks for being a Dirty Medicine member!
hi just a suggestion , for the fifth generation instead of learning all the foot symbols and universities , just say CefSTARoline , star has 5 sides ( the usual ones :) )
this works too, I guess. I'm just a huge sports fan and it's easier for me to remember the Tarheel logo :)
stars have 5 vertices, not sides
@@Sammy.a1287 you only need to get the point.
@@Sammy.a12875 pointed star, thats what they mean
dirty medicine: "alright gonna show you my super cool mnemonic for cephalosporin generation sorting"
me, on my 22nd hour awake: "okay baby, show me your mnemonic"
Also, you can memorize 5 gen as ⭐️ sTar - 5 pointed sTar.
This is much much better !!!!!!!
For the 2nd Gen Cephs, I've personally found the process of elimination method to be inadequate. "Fox Fur For Pro Tan-ning" is a good mnemonic to remember the big five: ceFOXitin, ceFURoxime, ceFaclOR, cefPROzil, cefoteTAN. Kinda dumb but it's proven reliable.
Pros Wear Fake Fox Fur for Tea party
cefPROzil CeFAClor CeFOXitin CeFURoxime CefoTEAtan
BEST Cephalosporin video EVER. You saved me hours of headache, thanks man!!
Would love to see a general video on antibiotics and their mechanisms of action! Like mnemonic to help remember macrolides bind 50S, aminoglycosides bind 30S, fluoroquinolones bind DNA gyrase, etc. Can't remember them for the life of me. LOVING these pharm videos!!
Macro means big, and 50S is bigger than 30S. Amino-glyco-side has 3 parts so 3 >>> 30S, abcdefg --> DFG --> DNA ,Flouroquinolone, Gyrase
@@alishba.21thanks for this!
Pure genius, thank you.
You are a LEGEND, dirty! Really appreciate for all these great videos. Just one request, is it possible to make one video about Mechanism & Classification of Antibiotic? Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!
Omg love you!! You are GOD!! Classification of cephalosporin is crazy!! you've made it damn easy
Hey all your efforts are highly appreciated
I’m really thankful for all your videos...really great work!!
Just one request
Can you please upload your ethics video the one that was removed ??
Exam in 10 days, I really need it!
You are god sent !!! 👍😊🙏
Another great video, thank you!!!
Nice explanation on cephalosporins. Thanks
Thank you very much. Your videos really help. 👍
One comment - ceftazidime also has pseudomonas coverage! I remember it by cefTAZ for pseudomoNAZ
Amazing explanation and mnemonic...
Love it!! Especially "a cluster f!@# of different cephalosporins"...thank you :)
Cef-ixime , one of the most commonly used oral cephalosporin 🌝
Amazing work as always!
Ceftazidime also covers pseudomonas
i agree
Your are a superman, thanks for this!!!
Your so adorable like seriously with all the pnemonics ... crushing it 👍🏻
Pseu-do-mo-nas hahahaha so adourable
Cool trick for 1st Generation is that all Cephalosporins starting with CefA belong to 1st like the 1st letter of the Alphabet, only exception is Cefaclor that is 2nd Gen.
For hardstyle fans:
Cef-Triax-ime & Cefix (Sephyx)-ime are 3rd generation cephalosporins
3rd generation - tri-POD includes cefPODoxime as well! :)
🤩
Thank you so much!!!!
Please do a video on Hep B serologic markers and also Bacterial and Viral genetics if it’s high in demand 🙏🏻😊
Appreciate all your help.
Ingenious!
ONE OF THE BEST EXPLANATIONS EVER ***
You are amazingly awesome 👏🏼💜
For "cefdinir" I think of: dinner is the 3rd meal of the day. Also could relate to "diner" I suppose lol
good one!
Thanks for another great video! I think it's absolutely ridiculous that we have to memorize pharm in the age of instant access to info.
Tyty I have had sooooooo much trouble with this!
super explanation, very helpful
In Tazmania they play 3 day cricket matches!
Gen 1: ALEX the First chicken wears a FEZ and PEcKS - cephALEXin - ceFEZazolin - Proteus, E.Coli, Klebsiella, Staph aureus (pre-surgical)
Great video!
oh my god you made cephs so much easy
awesome bro .....
No words just thankyouuu😊
Cool .. thanks ..
Great video
Really cool video clear and straightforward, but I recall that the first generation has more than 2 drugs, but at least now I know those 2 drugs
Just asking, does ceftazidime not provide pseudomonas coverage too?
It does.
It gives pneumococcus coverage
But Ceftazidime does work against Pseudomonas? Great video
Yep
I literally giggle thanks for your vid
Glad you enjoyed
drugs that have cef- prefix and 't' in them are 3rd gens cephalosporin drugs like cef-t-azidime, cef-t-riaxone, cefo-t-axime
For 2nd gen, if you want a pneumonic :) :
I remember Cefuroxime by replacing "uro" with "duo" ("cefDUOxime"). Duo means two.
I remember Cefoxitin by remembering that an OX has TWO horns.
Love your videos btw!
For 5th generation we can think tar on your feet from the beach still using the five toes. There are good images for this to show toes foot and tar.
Please dirty could you also make videos of other antibiotics like aminoglycosides, penicillins and the likes
The way I've memorized Cefepime:
Pime is like Prime > 4 day shipping with prime.
sir plz make a video on Antidepressants plz ,
jan : its not just a pattern of disrespect, its also inappropriate behaviour
michael : DISSREE - my friend DISSRE got new SPECS - DISRESPECT , my friend INAPPRO drives a PRIUS
jan: does that work for you?
michael : yes.
The first one is really fun to ask in a British accent
Ceftriaxone covers pseudomonas as well
Textbook says ceftriaxone doesnt cover pseudomonas
Check it out on medscape and Clinical pharmacology 5th edition by James Butler
@@wernernalule1783 yeah, lippincott suggests like wise too.
Any chance we will get an HIV tx video?
Taz does triple taxes
But better mnemonic i feel
you could also say "TAR-sals" and you have 5 toes..
i tried to tweet you, but it says the acct no longer exists? ive also emailed you haha!
hey jayna. I'm not on Twitter any more.. it felt pretty useless to me. I read every email I get, so if you emailed me I definitely already read it
❤ wow
It causes vitamin k deficiency?! 😭 never knew this (and so much more)
MORE MORE MOOOREE🤪🤓
The more i watch dirty's video, the more i learn about America lol
cluster fuck was personal lmao
LET’S GO HEELS!!!
🎉
For second gen
This is kinda inapproritate
FAC him in FOX FUR for FORTE 2 bucks
So cefaclor cefoxitin cefuroxitime cofotetan and 2 means 2nd lol
For Third generation, cefdinir: I remembered it as “dinner is the third meal.”
U g0t the first like fr0m me 😁😁
"It's a small rodent thing found in Australia" HAHA
Imma make sure my man dirty here gets a fat cut from my first stipend
Need parasitology pharm please.
I came up with my own stupid dirty mnemonic for the second gen drugs “I FOT FOX, FAM said FAC(fu*k) FUR”
Face reveal! hahah. Thank you as always.
Love the mnemonics but I think you should at least list the second generations since it’s actually not accurate to say that all cephs not mentioned here fall under 2nd gen. What about cefpodoxime? Oral third gen that’s not uncommon. A disclaimer that acknowledges this is not an all-inclusive list would be helpful.
Also, cefepime is not the only cephalosporin with pseudomonas coverage. Ceftaz too.
klk hi
Obviously outdated at the time I'm writing this due to new drugs on the market but even when published you left out several drugs. You say to assign anything not mentioned to the 2nd generation but what about cefdinir, cefditoren, cefixime, cefpodoxime, and ceftibuten which are 3rd generation. I would hate for students to confuse this as a complete list.
This is strictly for USMLE/COMLEX
CephALEXin... Alex came in first. CeftAROLINE...Caroline came in last (fifth).
I just found out that there's is a 6th generation guys
I love you but you repeat yourself so much that you make the video 5x than it has to be...
this repetition is the thing that helps us with memorization
