Great review. I have the 6" BDS lift with Fox coil-overs on my 19 Classic, I have used mine extensively over-landing and it has never let me down. Getting ready for King of the Hammers 2023 right now. I can not understand why more people do not use the 4th gen Ram as a very capable offroader.

I love my truck. I think these 4th gen rams are the best looking newer generation truck out of all of them. I do love the TRX but if i could have a TRX with the classic body regular cab it'd be choice! Love your truck man.

Awesome, just bought my first truck about 5 months ago. It came with a 6” lift. It’s not something I’m used to. I moved to Florida, from California over 6 years ago. I realize I needed a truck living in a Country setting. I don’t use my truck for hauling just yet. I definitely enjoy driving it though. Same thing for me. I don’t use my truck for off roading at all. It’s more for looks then anything🤷🏽♂️. My first 2021 Big Horn. I thought my tires were a little too big🤔, but I’ve grown to love them. My wife drove it to work one day. Since the tires are so thick, she managed to put a nail in the tire. The good thing about thick tires. That nail absolutely did nothing. Which made me love the tires even more😂. When I turn, it rubs the fenders🤔. 35” tires to be exact. I receive a lot of compliments on my truck. I’ve had a few guys tell me that it’s normal to have a little rubbing. These guys have big trucks as well. So I figured they know what they’re talking about. I definitely want to get that taken care of. It bothers me a little. Kind of annoying to hear that rubbing every time I turn left. It doesn’t do it much when I turn right, which is interesting to me🤔. I love that black on black on yours. That’s what I wanted. Mine is black, with chrome. My wife is 5’5 and struggles a little to get in😂. When I do start hauling something, it will most likely be a boat. That’s what my wife wants me to get next. We’ll see what happens. And you’re right about turning into a parking spot. That’s always a challenge for me🤦🏽♂️. Great video. Oh, and I agree. A 6” lift is definitely perfect for a 1500. I have know plans to go higher. What wheels are you running on yours? I’m able to clear without rubbing with my wheel spacers. Maybe you’ve got a different style/offset wheel with your chromes as opposed to my stocks.

@@RILLAMAN84 I ran 35x12.5xR20 Trail Graps on stock wheels with stock offset for the longest time. No rubbing. Currently running same size Ridge Grapplers with no rubbing.
Only way I could clear the stock wheels is with 0.25” shims at least. I put a link to them in one of the comments below.

I run the Airlift inside the coil rear air bag kit on my 2019 classic. $100 and they work great. Also super easy to install.

I got 2008 chevy silverado that's been giving me problems since day one. I been looking at 2014 all black with chrome tradesmen V6. No lift , bells or whistles but it's clean and catching my eye. I always like the look Ram has..
Sorry to hear about the problems. That’s never fun. I’m a GM guy at heart, but almost always ended up owning at least one Jeep/Ram as the daily. Treat them right and they’ve done us well.
I’m planning on getting this 2020 Ram 1500 bighorn later on for my 25th birthday. If I ain’t satisfied with the stock height, I might consider on getting the lift kit to give it that muscle/off road look😁😁😁

I have a very similar truck but a 5th gen. 2022 Built to Serve, Black, 6" BDS with Black Fuel Vectors and 35 Falkens. Those 4th Gens have a timeless look that won't get old, they will always look good. How are those Nitto's?
Hi there, thanks for watching. I’m glad you enjoyed. Truck just rolled over 107k miles and counting. I think I’ll be shopping for a truck like yours in the distant future- can’t see myself in anything other than a lifted Ram 1500. But, I sure do love the look of the 4th gens like you mentioned.
I like the Nittos. I like the Trail Grapplers the best, but prefer the price of the Ridge Grapplers so that’s what I went with this go around. When we were in Alaska during the pandemic I couldn’t get Nittos so had to settle for Firestone Destination M/Ts which were not my favorite.
How do you like the Falkens?
The Falkens are fantastic. I have about 18k miles on them now and they show very, very little wear. Quiet as a mouse. They are surprisingly excellent off road for me. They are a very well built tire. The only downside is sometimes I wish I had something more agressive looking

The only practical reason for lifting a truck is if your gonna put on larger wheels and tires. there's no reason for lifting your truck to unnecessary heights because your front and rear differentials will always be the limiting factor of clearance. I find SEMA trucks baffling your just making your center of mass way higher up making it more dangerous to drive at higher speeds and on the overlanding trails.
They do it because they like the way it looks. Simple as that and nothing wrong with it

I have a 6 inch rough county lift on my 04 ram just put all new 37s on and no rub... pervious tires where rdr 35s...new ones are milestone Patagonia 37s

Best to replace the shocks with fox shocks heard those are the truth. Snd with the kit itself I'll have it installed but mine is a 03 and plan to purchase it and by December,get ready to take it on the road.. and slowly but surely get starlight's upgraded seats not just the material.. apply 2017 seats in it. 1000 dollar headlights and bright reverse lights but both front and back in steel. Some dislike it but I prefer safty expecly In Mexico. Tons of animals at night can get your car wrecked.

I’ve had three different tires on this truck since I bought it. First was Nitto Trail Grapplers, then Firestone Destination (couldn’t get the Trail Grapplers because of COVID), now I’ve got Nitto Ridge Grapplers.
The Trail Grapplers are my favorite. They look and perform the best and last the longest but are far more expensive.

My rims are factory Ram wheels from a black 2017 Tradesman. I have to run at least a 0.25” wheel shim to clear the wheels. I have opted to run 1.5” hub-centric wheel spacers to give it the stance/look I like. Hope this helps.

Originally had 35x12.5 Nitto Trail Grapplers. Wore those down, then couldn’t get them shipped to Alaska during the pandemic, so had to go with Firestone Destination MTs (not my favorite), now I’m back to Nittos but chose Ridge Grapplers instead of Trail Grapplers. I’m really satisfied with the look (not as aggressive), but are really smooth and good for all of the highway driving I’ve been doing recently.

so in order to run the stock rims, you had to use a 1/4" shim spacer and then a 1.5" spacer? Is that just to get the look you wanted?
@@bryanfontaine9627 negative, in order to run stock wheels with the Fabtech 6” lift, I had to use at a minimum, a 1/4 wheel shim.
In order to get the look I wanted, I removed the 1/4” wheel shim and installed 1.5” hubcentric wheel spacers.

Do you know if this kit fits the 2017 ram 1500 crew cab express 4x4? I seem to be having trouble finding anything for the Express model.
Hi there. I’m not sure if the kits are cab size dependent. I would imagine a kit for a quadcab Ram would NOT fit a crewcab Ram, in that the cabs are different lengths and the control arm/trailing arm length and frame length would likely be different. I don’t however think the trim package (express, tradesman, big horn, etc) should have any effect on the fitment of a kit so long as you order it for the correct truck (regular cab, quad cab, crew cab, etc.).

My truck looks exactly like yours. I have stock 20x9 wheels and I am looking at getting a 6” Zone lift, but everyone I run into says I can’t run my stock wheels because the knuckle is going to be to large to fit in the bore of the rim. Have you had or heard of this problem before.? Figured I’d ask because your truck is my end goal.
Hi, thanks for watching. You’ll need at least a 1/4” wheel shim to run stocks. I went full send and run 1.5” hub centric wheel spacers and have had no rubbing issues at all in 80k miles. Granted, this is with the Fabtech lift, I would assume you’d be able to do the same with whatever brand. Hope this helps!

How do the ridge grapplers handle 1-3 inches of snow
They’re really good in deep snow. They’re ok in a little bit of snow, but aren’t no Blizzaks. Hope this helps, thanks for watching

My wheel bearings were pretty shot after about 90k miles after having them on.
I bought the truck with 30k miles, just replaced the wheel bearings… probably would’ve had more life had I not run the spacers. It’s the price you pay for beauty.

They might help keep down “the heat”, but the issue (in Alaska at least) is the exposed tire facing the drivers behind you, if that makes any sense. If I remember correctly, it’s no more than 12” of tread - hence the need for mud flaps because of my lift exposing more tire.
The wheels came black from the factory. This truck is the Black package, so black emblems, wheels, front bumper, etc. Pretty neat. Thanks for watching.

@@SemperFixIt I tow a bunch too. Truck tows great with the Fabtech lift. I’ve never owned a 4” lift truck, so couldn’t tell you unfortunately. Towed the Chevelle all across the country on an 18’ car hauler and all went well
Are your tires 37s if so did they have to cut the front bumper
They are 35x12.5xR20 on stock rims. No trimming required with 6” Fabtech lift on my 2017 Tradesman Ram 1500. Had to use 1/2” wheel spacer/shim in the front in order to run stock wheels with this lift. Hope this helps.

Currently running 35x12.5xR20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on stock 20” wheels.
Most of the photos shown in this video are displaying when the truck had Nitto Trail Grapplers (same size). While in Alaska during the pandemic, couldn’t get Trail Grapplers so I went with Firestone Destination M/Ts.
I like them in this order
1.) Trail Grapplers (best look, performance, but more pricey)
2.) Ridge Grapplers (less aggressive, a little tiny bit quieter on highway than Trail Grapplers, don’t look/perform off-road as well in my opinion though)
3.) Firestone Destination (didn’t wear as evenly as the Nittos. Got pretty loud at the end of their life.

I believe it’s a 6’ 3”. It’s a Quadcab and if I’m not mistaken, it’s a few inches longer than most of the Crew Cabs. Kinda cool
You mention shims....what are those? I knew about the hub centric spacers but didn't know you needs shims as well. I thought the spacers were shims?
Shims are just round plates that are usually about 1/2” thick that slide over the factory lug studs to space the wheel out a slight amount (so you lose a small amount of your factory lug), as opposed to spacers which are usually at least 1” thick and have their own independent lug studs that your wheel fastens to. Hope that makes sense!

Yes, some cutting on the control arm bracket and cut 3/4 of an inch out of tie rods. Check the description for the full install instructions
Got a 2017 Ram 1500 3.6 V6 with 33k miles (was trying to get out of a car with a lot of problems) what kind of lift do you recommend to fit on 35s? (I’m new to this)
A lot of guys are running Rough Country. Word on the street is they’re increasing quality recently but are still on the cheaper side if I’m not mistaken. Obviously I went with the Fabtech kit which is kinda bougee up there with BDS and all that. Depends on what you’re looking to do with it, but I’ve had really good luck quality wise with mine… but I sure paid for it hahaha. Best of luck, man!

@@taylorsampson5434 what a lot of guys do, including me, is when you’re first starting out instead of going for the big lift kit right of the hit, try out a leveling kit.
Rough country sells a pretty inexpensive 2.5” or 2.0” leveling kit, which will allow you to fit 33s and have them look right. I know you said you’re looking for 35s, which I’d be the first guy to tell you to go for it, but maybe especially with the V6 it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get some additional clearance for 33s with the leveling kit, try out some nice 33x12.5xR20s and you won’t hate yourself trying to move some heavy 35s with the V6.
Then down the road if you want to go bigger, you can upgrade from there.
A lot of people sell their used 33s on marketplace and Craigslist too. I think it’d be worth it because it’s safest to buy new tires, but here’s some good brands: Nitto, BFGoodrich, Toyo, Goodyear.
Also check out customoffsets website, you should be able to put your truck into their website and see what it would look like with different wheel/tire combos.

Stocks, baby! Came with 2017 Ram Tradesman Midnight (Black Group Package or whatever it’s called). Had to run at least 1/4” wheel shims to clear the lift setup. Decided to run 1-1/2 hubcentric wheel spacers. Hope this helps!

I have the same truck as you with the rough country 4 inch lift. I started getting vibrations at 70mph after installing the lift and cannot figure it out. Have you had any issues with vibrations?
I have not. Do they go away above 70mph? Are they new tires and did you get an alignment?
@@backcountrybuilds no, the vibration is still present even above 70mph. I got an alignment and the tires are just year old. I don’t know what it is.

@@victorortega2718 this is the second 5.7 Hemi I’ve owned and the last one had the same issue. Exhaust headers bolts prone to snapping off inside the block. Same thing happened to this truck! Not urgent but definitely annoying hahaha

Did you use the stock driveshafts, steering shaft and brake hoses(from frame to rear axle/front calipers?
Hi, Mike. Yes, stock driveshafts, kit comes with drive shaft spacer. Tie rods (steering shafts) were cut shorter by a small amount. Had to remove brake line brackets up front from original location to install brake line bracket drops. Check out the details here:

I want to add spacers to my ram with 4" lift with 33s but I was thinking going with 2" spacers do you recommend going 1.5 hub centric or do you think 2" is ok wanted to avoid adding shims enjoyed the video thanks
So way back when I was running 33s on a lifted Wrangler. I wanted spacers so I ordered 2” spacers and they were TOO WIDE. I returned them and picked up some 1.25” spacers.
I think with these bigger trucks, 1.5” is the sweet spot. Looks good, not tucked but not too obnoxious. 2” makes a big difference, asking for a mudflap ticket haha. Hope this helps.

Running 1.5” hub-centric spacers in the video! However, there are a few clips in the video you’ll notice that were from the 4,000 mile trip to Alaska, where I didn’t have the 1.5” spacers, just the 0.25” shims.
