Roger and Freddie were extremely close friends. Roger an Freddie were always in trouble 🤣. Roger has said that it took him over 5 years to stop deeply grieving over Freddie’s death. He also wrote a tribute song alone for Freddie. John Deacon was so devastated when they lost Freddie he never played with Queen again. He said- no Freddie- no Queen. Brian went into a deep depression.

You commented about Roger’s many pairs of sunglasses - fun fact : all of them were prescription sunglasses ! Roger had terrible eyesight and didn’t like regular glasses. Since his eyes are also incredibly sensitive to bright light (the drawback of having those big blue eyes), corrective sunglasses helped address both issues while looking cool too !
About John : yes, that transition at the beginning between the “current” (at the time) band’s appearance to the Bohemian Rhapsody era (1975) and back made it click - John’s hair changed a lot, but that bone structure remained. Of the band mates, John probably went through the most hair style changes hahaha ! Did you notice the few little moments of John at the drums?

LOL@ Fried Chicken. Everyone says that the first time they hear it. This song was written in honor of MLK, and after his "I have a dream" speech. However, they created the musical part of it first and had no words to sing to the music so they sung what was on a Chinese menu....lol When the musical part was all put together, they then worked on the lyrics and when they were done, Freddie wanted to leave in something from the menu.... therefore ended it with "Fried Chicken" lol

Drumsticks are not all the same and some brands are crappy even sell bananas (drumsticks that are not straight). Good drumsticks are expensive and professional drummers sometimes like a specific style of drumstick and many have them designed to their specifics. Big name musicians do usually have their name on their sticks and guitar picks. I have been gifted a few from some in the past. Drummers like thicker/thinner bases or larger/smaller heads. Everyone's hands are different so it makes sense that drummers might like a different stick. I knew a man who owned a drumstick business, very appropriately named "RimShot". Their inventory contained tons of different sticks and their slogan was "No Bananas." Lots of professional musicians bought from him and many had their names on the sticks. Roger wrote this song about Martin Luther King. Thanks for your energetic reaction. The Fried Chicken at the end of the song was because when they were recording this song (there is a video of the making of this song, worth the watch) they were having trouble fitting the words into the music so at one point Freddie picked up a Chinese Take-Out menu and started inserting the items on the menu as song lyrics. They were all tired and it broke the tension and gave them all a good laugh. The band decided to leave that one last bit in the song which was "Fried Chicken."

It was Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous "I Have A Dream" speech that inspired Roger Taylor to write the lyrics.,Freddie keep Roger's main idea, but modified some lyrics to make it a song of hope instead of anger., watch the "making of" this song you can see the four of them having so much good time, especially Freddie's funny lyrics😅. And also live version at wembley 1986 is fire🤟. Anyways congratulations for your 1k subscribers👏. keep it up. Thank u for loving Queen and Freddie, we love you back💛

The opening sequence of the video where they switch images between the 1974 Queen II album cover pays homage to the fact it was 10 years to the day that they filmed the video for Bohemian Rhapsody in 1975. There is a full version documentary you can find of the making of this video, essentially this is the edited version of Queen at work from the film itself. It is fascinating and fun. The song was a reaction to Live Aid with Roger Taylor being the originator of the material. They do have fun and take the piss out of each other (as we say in the uk to make fun) they are having fun, its great to see. Good reaction as always..keep going on the Queen train... Try an obscure track called 'You don't fool me' ...

You might want to watch the video titled "Queen - One Vision (Making Of) (High Quality)" - czcams.com/video/ywATOmlX6n4/video.html. Most of these visuals shots are taken from that documentary.
BTW - The members of Queen were sort of embarrassed by the footage from the making of the "One Vision" video. They said that the knowledge that the camera was on them changed the way they interacted with each other. They were obviously on their best behavior.
It wasn't a secret that Queen's recording sessions could become highly acrimonious. They all four were strong personalities with different tastes in music. The tabloids would often claim that Queen was breaking up because they were fighting but that was nothing new. They clashed a lot from the very first time they played together. They each had their own ideas.
Whoever composed the song and brought it to the group would be possessive of the song but the others almost always had suggestions to make it "better". Suggestions that were not always appreciated. Sometimes they had to fight over those changes yet, they always found a way to work it out in the long run.
Freddie once indicated they stayed together as a group because if you walked away it would be like you conceded the fight. They had to stay together to work it out just to hold their ground. (The fact they created amazing music together and that they truly liked and respected each other are probably the real reasons they stayed together)
BTW - Roger had a lot of drumsticks and probably they all were labeled with his name. He breaks them all of the time (he hits his drums hard). Also, Roger wore sunglasses because he had poor eyesight and needed prescription glasses. He thought the prescription sunglasses were cooler. You rarely can find a picture with Roger wearing his regular glasses but there are a few.

They wrote this song together as a band & the making of documentary follows them through part of that process & part of the actual recording process. Queen's basic format for recording a song was when the music was basically done they would record what they called the backing track which they then expanded on, modified, added to or embellished for the finished song. The backing tracks were usually either bass, drums, piano, vocals or bass drums, guitar, vocals. When they did the backing track for this, the lyrics weren't finished so Freddie was just singing "filler" words (there are scenes of that in the making of video). At one point he was just reading a Chinese takeout menu which is how they ended up with "Fried Chicken" at the end. They thought it was hilarious so they just left it.
The blonde in this video (and also in the Break-through video) was Roger's girlfriend.

  • @Dillon12
    @Dillon12 Před 2 lety

One Vision was written by all the members. It was from the album "A Kind of Magic" (1986). The idea of the song started by Roger Taylor, the song was inspired by Martin Luther King's speech, however all of them contributed in the creation of it. There was a song called A Kind Of Vision, it was written by Roger, but they decided to make the song turn into 2 different songs. So A Kind Of Vision became A Kind Of Magic and One Vision. The demo track is most related to A Kind Of Magic, on the other hand One Vision is really different to it. One Vision was released as a single. Its b-side was Blurred Vision (written by all of them), that is just an alternative version of it and it wasn't included in the album.
    Fun fact:
They were running out of words, so Freddie's boyfriend Jim Hutton, suggested him to put random words there and then he came up with "Fried Chicken" 🤣
    Studio Version:
Freddie did lead and backing vocals.
    John played bass.
Roger did backing vocals and played drums and electric drums.
Brian played guitar and did backing vocals and used synthesizers.

Another fun reaction from you! As everyone is telling you, now you can watch the behind the scenes "Making of One Vision" video. A lot of this is clips from it. And it's pretty funny. Freddie is making up lyrics to point out how things aren't rhyming. They change clothes through out. I THINK it's the one where Freddie is in the control room (is that what it's called?) trying to explain to Roger how he can improve the drums. Roger looks at him with the blankest expression.
