The way that he came in, played the tape out loud, and didn't say a word and let the evidence speak for itself.
Iconic. Classic.
Facts 😂
They won't will they it's grant mitchell bruv lol
Zip his pants up when you are done.
This was the breaking point where Grant became Ross Kemp on gangs.
😂😂😂
😂
What a cast. All great characters.
I still love it now, but this was when it was great
The good old days
An iconic moment in television history
Definitely, often imitated but never bettered
Sharongate.
I don't watch soaps anymore but I remember this well. It kept the entire country gripped for months!
I love how Kathy slaps Sharon then just sits down :D
The single greatest scene in Eastenders history. I remember everyone in my school talking about the previous episodes cliff hanger when Grant is about to get out of the car and he hears “you slept with him” and the ending drum beat. We all thought he was gonna do typical Grant and go in swinging. But this was so much better.
Me and my sister reenacted this from reveal to arches it was so powerful even to hyper kids, i was what maybe 8/9 and she was 5 🤣 i offered to be phil and get thrown down the pit. The pit being off the end of my mums bed. Nobody was hurt cos we were playing at reenacting the scene not fighting.
I love how Kathy sits down after slapping Sharon "I'm still gonna finish my drink though"
If I was Sharon I would have literally died of embarrassment😂.
Hello22uuu No because I'd be dead 😂.
Sharon was more than embarrassed. She was humliated .imagine how she felt .This is why she got revenge on Grant
Pardon? What i was saying was he should have spoken in private not humliate her
Same 😂😂💀
@@gemmaaboagye8951 so it is ok for Sharon to humiliate Grant but not the other way around? Actions have consequences, it doesn't matter what your gender is. Why aren't you equally disgusted with Phil being humiliated anyway? Because he's a man he doesn't deserve respect? Women who blindly defend other women's disgusting decisions tend to be equally untrustworthy and deceitful. Good luck with that. I truly hope you don't have sons if that's your attitude.
I saw this first time around on TV nearly 30 years ago. Still remains one of the most shocking moments on Eastenders the way Grant marches in like that and plays the tape with that crazed and raging look on his face.
Great scene. They can never do this anymore.
The ultimate moment of 1990s EastEnders
Everyone looks so young in this. Kathy, Phil, Grant, Sharon, Pat, Bianca, Carol
mustafa karwa they was
mustafa karwa That's because they where, even Phil abs Carol where only in their early to mid 30's. I think Sharon always looked abit older than she was cause of the way she dressed and dolled herself up, she would have been in her mid 20's here!
Ross Kemp aged really well. He only looks 5 years older now then he was was the 90's.
mustafa karwa sodden goods
except for fat pat
Boy you could feel Grant's pain and anger
Everyone remembers this.... best in Eastenders history
@Mark Lynn Emmerdale's best moments in history was kym related stuff in the mid to late 90s-especially her return from the dead. The Steph Stokes stuff in the mod 00s was really good too.
Corrie's was probably Richard Hillman stuff as was the demise of Charlie Stubbs and Tracey in late 2006/early 07 era was really good. I recall the whole nation talking about Charlie.
With Eastenders I'd say there's a few to pick from but right up there along with Sharongate would be the kat/zoey reveal in late 2001 and the trevor/little mo stuff. That was epic.
The first rule of a drunken girlie chat.
Make sure your conversation isn’t being taped!
On 2:17 to 2:20 Pauline’s face be so freakin priceless 🤣🤣🤣🤣💀
Watch out keanu Phil will be on the warpath when he finds out about sharon and keanu affair
Posh Surreygirl still not found out
essay9 I think he’ll find out at Louise and Keanu’s wedding
RIP Keanu😂.
@@charlottesmith1434 Nah his alright
This is iconic. I dont know how old I was but I definitely remember watching this as a child and having no idea why grant was so angry haha
Me and my sister re enacted the arches brawl i was 8 and she was 6 , she was phil and i pretended to throw her down the pit. It was just mad back in the day when the whole family watched tv together. Had no understanding of what the tape meant mind.
The fallout from this story was epic - not just in the short term, but long term - Sharon was essentially the reason Grant treated Tiffany like crap during their marriage, Phil turned to booze and Kathy finally ditched Walford. Sharon's sins were still impacting Walford long after she left! She was like the other legendary blonde Cindy in that respect - just blowing lives apart around her, however unlike Cindy, Sharon was somewhat oblivious lol.
i don't think Phil turning to booze was a result of this;it was more that Phil always had to be the center of attention and when Ben came he got jealous and bitter that Kathy was giving Ben attention. Plus Grant bullying Tiff bad had nothing to do with this either, he always did that to women from the very beginning, sure he did the same to Sharon. And Kathy left because Phil was a Mitchell-he was going to mess it up regardless, that's what he did.
@@shanefolan I always thought Phil turned to booze after he killed that bloke in the fire in the car lot.
@@doctor_gibbo1392 Because his dad abused him
@@doctor_gibbo1392 That is true, Phil first started drinking heavily in the summer of 1994 due to regret over the car lot fire and death of that vagrant.
@@shanefolan A mixture. Sharon cheated because he abused her. He abused Tiffany anyway but it was worse because of Sharon. His wives both tried to leave him because of his he treated them. He was wrong but obviously still got hurt hearing his wife talk about ripping his brother's clothes off. They became brothers again but after grant beat him senselessly. Then grant fell for Kathy years later. Should have stuck to their own wives. Sharon loved grant, it could have worked out if he hadn't humiliated her after the cheating but it was broken
You can tell how much Grant loved Sharon
once a slapper always a slapper
EastEnders was never this good again...I mean, 'Sharongate' has its own Wikipedia entry, not to mention it's own '-gate', which I don't think any soap anywhere has achieved and I'm sure I remember the story making news.
Eastenders was fucking class back in the day
Up till2005 then it got worse
This episode was when I thought OMG I have to keep watching. It was definatly what hooked me in!
Sharon wasn't secretly recorded. Michelle was interviewing her for an article she was doing and Michelle accidently left the tape lying around when Grant found it and played it in his car.
Phil Mitchell with hair! Carol Jackson looking like a young girl! Time is so cruel
jonwiley She'd have only been in her early 30's then, then again she has aged relatively well if you ask me she doesn't look bad now seeing as she is in her mid to late 50's.
Young girl? Sounds so creepy. She looked like a woman and she still looks good compared to others.
Sharon has aged badly
jay bee Sad but true. Sharon was really cute when she was younger and had her OWN HAIR! She may look fine now if she’d get rid of that unflattering weave and wear something other than black.
@@jonwiley5549 She didn't look good here as that short hair didn't suit her nor did she look really that good in her 20s or in the 80s. Sharon looked best in her 30s during her 2nd comeback in the 2001-05 era. She was a late bloomer, during the 2005 when Den was murdered I thought she looked really well and had really grown into her looks.
I still think Sharon still looks ok, her weight is her biggest issue and always has being but considering she is a middle aged woman in her 50s now I think she looks ok-she's not young anymore remember.
And now Sharon has betrayed Phil. She betrayed 2 brothers. I had to come here after Christmas day's 2019 episode
"What about Phil?" "What about him?" "You slept with him, remember? " LOL
rias hahahahaha
Heartfelt acting from Phil.
lol sharrons hair 😂😂
I watched EE from 1991 to 2005...best years ever!! Unfortunately, here in the States, the show wasn't available everywhere, only on some public tv stations. My local station was two years behind the actual show. Some people would tape it and mail it around to friends in other states who didn't get the show. I moved back in 2005 and have missed out on six years!! Of course I could now watch it on cable, but it's current, not the back episodes. I've missed so much :(
You not missing much
I've realized how much I've missed of EastEnders. I only started watching in 2008 and there is so much I didn't see! Like this storyline, it's amazing. I just got chills! Classic EE :D
heidos7 Sharongate is definitely one of the best storyline's ever in Eastenders history !
That glare from grant at 1:58.... I would of run straight out the nearest door!!
Back when eastenders had good acting with good characters. It's a sham now
It has its moments but too many characters have been killed off because that's the only way they can make drama nowadays. Plus there's only ever comedy from the Carter's
lol 😂
dead right , this was when the show was unmissable .
Pt 2 to this is Peggy slapping the piss out of Frank & Pat 😂
Yea kaffs slap is somewhat weak peggy clobbers them both.
What Sharon said on the casette, it's no wonder Grant was so upset... and angry. You should've seen them tears and the way he lowered his eyebrows. I felt really sorry for him
Johnno9989 😂
"Sharon is secretly recorded as she admits her affair with Phil and Grant is sent the tape as evidence." Actually that is not what happened if I remember correctly. Sharon knew she was being recorded, she just taped it when she was drunk with Michelle. Grant found the tape and listened to it without her knowing
Michelle was conducting an interview for a university course or something and they got drunk and forgot the tape was still running
Grant
Phil
Dennis
... Sharon has a thing for 'hardmen'
Back when Eastenders was elite!
Omg all those amazing characters :'(
Bring back Sharon, Grant and the rest of the Jacksons!
Here with a cassette deck, and they did it years later with a DVD. How EE keeps up with the times!
i remember watching this episode it's from October 1994 i just started secondary school i was at my aunts house and me and my cousin were acting on it we laughed our heads off.I use to fancy Kathy back then.
What a scene!
I think that it is safe to say sharon was the only woman grant truly loved
That makes Sharongate even worse
He did abuse her before. That's why she turned to Phil. He also loved Tiffany in the end but it was too late
Legendary ep
Classic episode.🎬
I had to watch this again. Not sure how old it is, more than 25 I reckon, but it was an unforgettable moment. Ah memories.
0:07 Grant had a high tech casette player for 1994, didn't he??????
Weirdly nobody is even slightly pissed.
i hated the way Sharon got the Blame for the affair. Kathy and Grant shunned her and forgave Phil crazy
Crev Rath Pissed me off to Phil told Grant that Sharon was the one who threw herself at him (when that wasn't the case at all Phil loved Sharon and she loved him he just didn't want to tell Grant because he knew how much it would hurt him ) .
Legendary 💯
Brilliant acting!!!!
seeing this ep loads of times
Lol this brings back memories - all got found out during Phil and Kathy's engagement party!
The slap was LAME! It was a pat on the cheek!
0:22 - can't believe that's Carol!
She looked so young like a teenager
Loving Big Ron’s shirt!
These were the years 😍😍😍
that slap hurt
Sharon in her heyday = a a very very beautiful looking young woman as she still is!! I so so had a mega crush on her "back in the day"!
I'm so happy that grant is coming home.
I was looking for this thanks. Isn't this bit of Eastenders called SharonGate
Yes
I know that Grant hit Sharon, but he still loved her you know he has still effects from the military. Grant didn't deserve that. This will always be one of the greatest storylines in EastEnders History. Poor Grant lost his Grandfather, his Dad & now his wife Sharon.
30 years on great memories 🎥
Thank you for the incredible memories! Susan Tully was one of my favourites as Michelle.
Old is Gold✔
*25th anniversary this year!*
You have to do something to mark the occasion!
Good opportunity to sell the programme abroad as well.
Iv been trying to find the full episdodes of this an aftermath its been hard
1:25
they used that sound track in one foot in the grave on Victor's party lol
Epic storyline ,no one does it better than when mitchells are at front of it
LOL I would have DIED haha I would have run like hell, not stand there like an idiot LOL
tamonettX500 Init 😂 She just froze she didn't know what Grant was going to do (I was surprised he didn't kill her at the time😂) .
I felt so sorry for grant
lmaoo when she slaped her.. it was like when u hi5 some1 hahaha !!
This was proper EastEnders.
Do you have the whole episode on this site?
I'd quite like to watch it sometime.
Alan & Carol getting jiggy 😂😊
"It's like Phil was a nice side of Grant."
Hmmmm... I don't know. Grant was perhaps worse physically but mentally, Phil was worse.
Yes but he was softer even to women. He only got in with guys. Grant could be mean to women. Only later did phil turn like grant and was mean to lisa and other women
It’s obvious neither of you remember what Grant did to Eddie Royle. That was worse than anything Phil’s done in 30 years.
Grant brought it all on himself from the way he treated Sharon.
3.12 “can I have another pint of carling first please”
it so is!
damn I didnt think stiffie alan could move like that-LMAO.
Have you got the bit after this where Grant completely breaks down blowing snot bubbles and everything, that was a remarkable bit of acting
PLEASE NAME THE SOUNDTRACKS IN THIS CLIP
Grant and Phil was like what Max and Jack are now
it was october 94
HUMILIATION! haha x
Grant always has bogeys when he cries.
back when EastEnders was great now it is complete crap
Yep there was no time like the 90's in Eastenders.
Ironic that now Phil is the moody aggressive nutter more than Grant
Chris Dawson I agree
Chris Dawson I don't watch it much
Chris Dawson yep especially now their killing all the Mitchell's off😭😩💔.
Busted big time
EastEnders was SO bloody good back then
that was back in 1994 before i was even born this is funny
Sharon always was a slapper
the original Michelle charachter Susan Tully refused to return, shame really she has been replaced
Is Susan Honey?
Funny as she's been directing EastEnders for years now
@@paulec2634 no she hasn't, she directed a few episodes in 98 but that's it.
@@shanefolanNo, she's been doing it for years.
@@Leeann-rz3ei no she hasn't. Her early years in directing she directed some Eastenders but that's it.
Duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh. Hahahaha the good old duff, duffs. This was a shocker of an episode lol. 😭😭😂😂😢😢😜😜😬😬
Classic eastenders back in the 90s
Aw Phil with hair
Carol was always down with the brothers😅
Rumour has it linford christie was going to appear in a comic relief special circa 1994 but pulled out when he heard the storyline involved scenes with carol jackson.
Big Ron!
Why would you record that I never could quit understand why Sharon done that
I'm a eastenders addict now but wow I wasn't even born when this episode was shown. Justin Bieber was probably only 7 months old awwww :) And I wasn't born yet til 3 years later. I thought eastenders was boring when I was little but I got into it and started watching it when I was year 2 which was 2002 :)
a bit emmbarissing being court like that
